SOL Mexican Cocina - Denver
Fabulous dinner. Comfortable, fun atmosphere. The street corn was fantastic. Also loved the beef ribeye taco.
The server was so nice and the food was overall tasty. I love the chips you get here to start the meal and I enjoyed the shrimp taquitos as a appetizer. I ordered the chicken burrito and honestly the chicken needs more flavor. I was shocked that it didn't have any authentic taste or much flavor at all. My SO ordered the chipotle seitan burrito and it was delicious and was packed with flavor. We also ended thr night with the deep friend bread pudding which was delicous. The margs were strong too. Pricey but good food. They had way too many people crammed into the space especially during these times. I was elbow to elbow with two other tables and that was a bit uncomfortable.
We were not pleased with being seated at the bar when we had made a reservation. Prices were too expensive for what was given.
I picked SOL Mexican Cocina for our 14th anniversary dinner because I have been following them on Instagram and their food and drinks look amazing! I was nervous because whenever I pick somewhere new, its a disappointment!
We walked in and were greeted right away, and the male host wished us a happy anniversary, and put us at a really great table. I had requested outside near firepit but they had no longer offered that. So he sat us near the wall that opened up completely and it was perfect! He then brought us a complementary shot from the bar and made sure we were set for the perfect night. There was live music going and we appreciated that! The food was amazing, the salsa the black bean dip the frozen beer and the Michelada. Especially the sweet corn! That is a must! When we were leaving we made sure to let a staff member know how impressed we were with the service and the food! The only thing I would have liked was having dessert offered, that would have completed our meal. We were so full though we didn't think of it until we got home and settled for ice cream. Still 5 out of 5 stars and worth every penny. Definitely would return here.
Good taco Tuesday deals with live music which we liked, but maybe not ideal for a meeting or something. Margs were great and not too sweet.
Appetizers were delicious. I could have just ordered those all night. Had the Salmon quinoa salad & it was satisfying with a lemon type dressing. Everything tasted fresh. Loved the toasted corn appetizer. Wow! Drinks were great. I’d have to say the only thing is that meals in Denver are getting too pricey but for three of us our meal was worth the value.
Wonderful waitress, excellent food. Perfect all around!!
The restaurant lived up to it’s reviews. It was cozy and quiet with great service and good food.
We had a great time. Took a little longer than usual due to a large party but management took care of appetizers.
Our margaritas tasted like sour lime, they did not mix it right. For the price of the drink it should have been perfection since it is there signature drink. Also, they were out of glasses and was not served in the appropriate glass. We did say something but they did not take it off of our bill or offer another drink or even a credit for next time.
The food was good, but the service was less than average. I went there once before and brought all my friends with me this time and was very disappointed after I talked it up.
Good food and good service.
Perfect meal and restaurant visit - excellence at every step of the way - food and drink about the best Mexican ever had - superb service (thank you Juana) - memorable evening!
Really love this place but too loud for a dinner conversation. Had reserved for dinner for 4 several weeks ahead. May have been better if host sat us away from the live music in bar area.
The server was very nice and helpful. We ordered off of the Tuesday Taco/margarita menu. We had the baked guacamole, the street corn, tacos (carnitas, fish, chicken, and the animal taco) and the quesadilla. The best part of the meal was the corn which was very tasty and the quesadilla (which doesn’t say much). The guac was bland, the fish and carnitas tacos were both bland (we actually had one carnitas left because neither of us wanted it). The animal taco was tasty (has a bunch of fried onions and shoestring potatoes on it with sriracha sauce) but the steak was overdone and overall dry. We looked at the normal prices on the menu and we will not return to overpay for the quality we had. Overall, we were both disappointed as we were excited to find a new Mexican date night spot but SOL did not deliver.
Always nice to go for happy hour.
Food was cold when served, appetizer came after dinner plates, drink didn’t come as ordered and then didnt taste good when fixed. I returned it. Tasted like chemicals. Waiter was very nice and attempted to make things right with each mistake. Food was expensive for quantity and quality.
Great upscale Baja Mexican dishes and excellent service. The atmosphere is pleasant, with cozy seating and updated decor.
Great food, good service, and expensive drinks. Thanks for quality experience.
Great ambience, service and food!
As always, Sol always delivers… great Margaritas, great food and great service. It’s become one of our go to spots
Food was very well prepared. Our server was very good. The margs are some of the best in town. The cucumber / jalapeno one was fantastic.
Great service and atmosphere. Drinks and appetizers were very good. Little bit of a high price point for some of the dishes.
SOL is simply a GREAT FIND ! The homemade chips & (2) Salsa(s). were
off-the-charts good . Our entrees
had amazing seasonings and flavors.
Margaritas fit right in with the overall
outstanding…. Well ; Everything.
Meet some old friends for dinner. We were seated promptly and our server, Christopher, was great! The food was fantastic!! The service was excellent!!
We will return!!
I have been to Sol before and enjoyed everything from beginning to end. This time around not so much. Staff was great, but food this time really lacked quality. Food was cold and took a while to come out. Ordered a total of 8 tacos for my friends and I but no one was impressed. I ranted and raved to them about this place but don't any will return.
Bar service was Very Slow. Restaurant was very loud and frenetic. Not a relaxing atmosphere.
We were seated in the bar area and it was too noisy for conversation.
When we came in, they had trouble seating us and repeatedly said we were coming in during a server shift change. We waited 15 minutes for water but then were able to get our drink and food order in right away. Our food was delicious but was each missing the 2 sides we ordered and had onions despite us asking for it without. Overall our food was a 10/10 but service had a lot of room for improvement.
We have been going to SOL for the past 2 years and really enjoyed. Lately it's not as good as it used to be. Slow service, they often forget to bring water/cutlery/chips, the food is average. Hopefully it will get better!
It was a miss and it’s nuts to buy two tacos and have it be over $24.
Probably the worst food I had had in Cherry Creek ever. No flavor, dried out meat. Really poor food experience for the price.
Absolute joke in terms of service. Forgot one persons meal multiple times (a salad). Never came for refills. Forgot wine multiple times. Didn’t have glasses for wine so just didn’t come back, remembered then said can we just take your glass and rinse it out? When grabbed and asked the food and drink was supposedly coming waiting on a piece of salmon(the forgotten meal). Salmon came almost a half hour later and couldn’t even be cut into (showed to manager). When salad did come it had items in it that were asked to be taken out. After grabbing the manager he did attempt to rectify the situation. Still issues with the final receipt which he also rectified. He was professional and understood the situation. I hate complaining on forums but had family in from out of town and will probably never return. When final bill did come server who made multiple mistakes still forgot to come by and cash us out. Watched the table beside us receive their bill (after us) and returned bill (before us). Very disappointing. Moderately busy but watched people who came after us and receive multiple items before us. Had planned to stay and drink but felt unwelcome and that we probably wouldn’t receive correct items.
We had reservations but we were seated in the bar area. The bar area was extremely loud. The margarita was $17 and a chop salad with chicken was $20. The drink was good, the salad was average. We also got the ceviche and calamari. The food was ok, the portions have been cut in half from when we were regular customers a while back. Not the best experience we've ever had. They seem to have the same issue many restaurants are having right now, they are seating at full capacity but they haven't hired all of the staff necessary to support the crowd. Service was a quite slow. Friendly, but slow. We used to love SOL, but now I'll have to see if we will be regular customers after another attempt.
Great service and cocktails
I know most places are understaffed, but service was extremely slow. We waited probably 10 minutes for someone to come over, and another 10 to receive our drinks.
The “creamy” sauce on tacos was mayo-based, which was pretty disappointing for a $16 taco and a higher-end place. We had to send the food back because my boyfriend doesn’t eat Mayo (they should probably call it “aioli” for folks with allergies!) Over $140 for a meal we could have gotten at a cheap place on South Broadway for $30.
Ambiance/decor was nice, but it was very loud.
Won’t be coming back.
Birthday. Service was great.
Absolutely terrible service. Lately I've been giving places the benefit of the doubt due to many places having trouble finding laborers, but SOL has plenty of people who look to have mastered the art of "doing nothing" while also looking busy. We had a party of six and were never asked for more chips even though we had two orders of guac. Had to flag down random people for help. Drinks took forever to come out and we were not asked about refills until an hour and 15 m minutes into our meal - meaning they missed out on some serious money. My wagyu skirt steak, ordered medium rare, came out rare. Grilled corn was delicious. But not good enough to warrant ever coming back.
Met some co-workers for tacos and margs - had a great time. Our server was on top of it and the food was great. Great location too.
Amazing and attentive service!! The food was so fresh and delicious, completely seamless experience of awesomeness from start to finish! Great place with easy parking right next door.
Great margaritas and Mexican food!
