SOL Mexican Cocina - Denver
Both entrees were over salted and dry (the result of being kept under the heat lamp too long or oven). Tortillas were not properly heated. I was raised from a traditional Mexican family with traditional foods Therefore for the price of the food you would assume the chef had an idea of how to manage a kitchen and prepare the food in a better manner.
The food was absolutely delicious and the ambiance was chic. We had a great time.
Great dinner - thanks. My grandson spilled his milk and it was cleaned up in a second and life went on!
We have eaten at Sol several times and it has been outstanding. The food the service and overall ambiance! The hangar steak entree is one of the best Mexican dishes I have ever tasted.
Yesterday 9/7 the salsa was not as good as usual, but the rest was amazing!
This was our first time at this restaurant, and I almost never give restaurants five stars, but Sol Mexican Cocina deserves it. Innovative takes on traditional Mexican dishes, attentive service, and comparatively good value overall combine for the top rating. My only knock was the high decibel level, but that comes with a crowded restaurant. The margaritas were well made, and you get the traditional salsa but also a black bean dip with chips. We got the roasted corn appetizer, which they slice off the cob at your table--it was great. I had the halibut special, which was well worth the $30 price (huge piece of fish), and my wife's tacos blended unusual ingredients with excellent preparation. Our waitress was very attentive. As I said, I seldom give a five star rating, but this restaurant deserves it.
Veggie tacos and burrito were a hit! Also loved the margaritas, so many choices! I have to give a shout out to our waiter, Sam, who, when I found a piece of beef in my veggie taco, comped us the entree. I will go back to this charming restaurant again! Highly recommend if you are looking for delicious American Mexican food and you can spare a couple extra dollars for a classy casual evening❤️
The Chilaquiles were basically like nachos with egg, cheese and green sauce. Awful!
Overall I liked the good! I thought the margaritas were ok and the wine! The guacamole was just ok as well!
Amazing food, wonderful atmosphere and even better service!
Came for my moms bday since she was in town from out of state. Amazing service and food was SO good!
Food was great. Had live music. Our waiter, Butch, was unbelievably awesome. It was a great way to end our Denver trip! Try the duck tacos and let the waiter take you through all the tequila options. You won’t regret it!
Excellent service for our large group! The food came out quickly, everyone's order was correct, and drinks were refilled immediately. We'll definitely be back.
Burrito sucked. Waited half hour for food.
It was great! We will be back.
The food was good however out of the drink I wanted to order. Then out of an entree. Our service wasn’t the best either. The food is very good. Wish were told up front what items were sold out. My friend got the wrong fish tacos so overall service was a bit of a mess.
Average food, service, ambiance.
The restaurant was lovely; the food was great and it was a terrific evening!
We enjoyed the ambiance but that’s about it. None of the front house staff smiled or engaged outside of there tasks. Our waitress was kind but again, stuck to her tasks and took 15min on average to circle back to our table. I made eye contact with the unhappy manager and tried to get her attention but she was obviously not interested and never stopped by our table. The food was flavored okay and some of it not well at all. Needless to say, we will not be returning.
Great drinks and food.
The food is always fantastic, and the drinks are good. Service is great, and we’ll keep coming back. The only negative aspect is the parking garage. The gate often doesn’t work, it took 10 minutes to get out, and the attendants are not helpful. If you go, park on the street or use valet.
Superior food and cocktails in a pleasant atmosphere. Sol is much larger than expected, but the speed of service did not suffer. Really enjoyed both taco plates (carnitas and sweet potato/black bean) and cocktails matched well. Will DEFINITELY be back.
Food was delicious! Loved the table we had in the corner that was perfect for 5 of us.
Amazing experience. Had to change reservation once and half of party was 1 hour late, but Matthew was an exceptional server! He started us out with drinks. House Marg is pretty darn good! And some apps - Naked Guacamole, Black bean dip with homemade chips and Grilled Corn on the cob, all delicious. When our other half arrived we started over with more guac and another corn, both well received! The only negative I can say was, first corn was awesome. Second one was loaded up with pesky scallion tops that nobody likes, especially the girls we were treating. Leave those nasty things off! Thanks!
We all ordered an assortment of specialty tacos - I’ll summarize by saying the Filet, both styles of Shrimp, and the Carnitas are all superb. The chicken on the regular taco plate was just OK. Chicken good, but green spicy sauce overwhelmed! Should have asked for it “on the side.” All in all, fun time for over two hours, great food and exceptional service. Thank you again, Matthew!
The food we all had was really good, naked burrito is a good vegetarian choice. Our server had to be reminded to bring things she promised. But we had a nice time.
As usual, the noise level is rather loud. I always forget until I arrive the next time. Saturday night our server was a little slow and we had to ask for her a few times. In her defense, she was busy. The food was good, although my husband stated he would not get the fish tacos again.
Overall a good experience. We'll definitely be back!
Excellent food, great Margaritas, and very cool vibe!
Really good food and margaritas. What more can you ask for? Cherry creek prices and all, but still a nice spot, would definitely go again.
A go to place now, with friendly hostess and servers.
We didn’t have the best experience here. We were out celebrating a friends birthday and moms night out and were told by the GM to “be quiet” and one of my friends was told “especially you” we were just a group of moms trying to have fun. It was 8pm so not a “family dinner” time it was later and we were being no louder than anyone else in the restaurant. The GM seemed like a real peach and I will not be visiting here again. Clearly she doesn’t want people to enjoy themselves or have any fun 🙄.
2 parents and 4 near adult children enjoyed a weekday meal here together. The elote and guacamole were great and everyone enjoyed their entrees and cocktails. Thanks for a great meal.
The service was very slow. Went for a lunch with co-workers and it took over an hour and a half.
Great menu and tasted fresh and unusual
Goodtimes. The server helped us figure out spice levels and was patient.
Great guacomole and service. Food was also quite good. Festive atmosphere
Sol is consistently delicious and enjoyable all the way around. Thank you!
I was expecting better. The fish tacos were very mushy and the beans were barely average.
Our dinner was around 7:45 pm and the two items that I wanted to order were not available anymore (the grilled octopus and duck tacos). Drinks are good. Even with reservations, I didn’t get good seats for our party of three.
One of my favorite Mexican Restaurants. Fresh ingredients, unique seasoning, great options on the menu.
Slow and inattentive service. Food lacked the bold flavor you’d expect from this kind of authentic food. Worst of all was the awful service. That feeling you get when your server treats you like they’re doing you a favor by waiting on your table.
Need white meat chicken
