Small Barn is an exciting addition to the Temecula restaurant landscape offering a casual but elevated dining experience in the form of a modern bistro. The menu is inspired by classic preparations found on bistro menus around the globe while showcasing the bounty of ingredients produced in the region. The restaurant atmosphere is crafted to be a welcoming gathering place that is beautifully designed and relaxed, but with a vibrant energy that encourages socializing and discovery.

On the site of the historic Knott Family Homestead, Small Barn has brought new life to a landmark building from the early 1900s. Great care has gone into preserving the structure and with it the legacy of a prominent Temecula family that was among the area’s first settlers. Small Barn has maintained the original residential scale and offers extensive outdoor seating including the large wrap-around porch, covered patio and fireside lounge seating.

    Good food, poor service. We sat for 18 minutes before we saw a server or were offered a drink. We also were never offered refills on our cocktails, we had to flag down an employee to get another round. Food was very good, even though they missed a few items we ordered, they were quick to correct it. Manager was aware of the poor service we recieved, normally they add a mandatory 18% for parties of 8 or more, but when our bill came there was no gratuity added. I asked why, and he said it was due to the “issues” with service. Even though we didn’t complain, they were cognizant of what was going on. Will come back, I’ve been in the service industry my whole life, and everyone deserves a second chance to impress. Hopefully we will have a more positive review next time

    Food is above average, as we have been here multiple times with the same outcomes. It doesn't knock your socks off but is a step above other establishments (which does come with a price). We had the worst service in our life in this most recent visit... in addition the patio was littered with flies.

    We might have caught this restaurant on an off day. We visited for an early dinner, and the restaurant was not busy. We were seated immediately and had an excellent, responsive server. It is the kitchen that needs work. We ordered the ahi tuna appetizer, which we were told was served poke style. I was disappointed to find bright pink low quality gassed tuna on my plate, which might be expected at a low cost quick service poke place, but not at a bistro charging about $25 for the dish. Our entrees arrived maybe 2-3 minutes after the starter, despite the server offering on her own that she would make sure the courses were spaced out. The kitchen seemingly fired the entire order together right away. And yet, my skirt steak arrived lukewarm. The beef quality was good and the sauce flavorful with a little heat, but other than that the plate had a small quantity of broccolini stems. On the plus side, my wife's skin-on salmon filet was cooked perfectly, and her dish was balanced and composed. My cocktail was also well made and tasty. I tipped well and spoke to the acting manager, who happened to be the bartender. I told him I wasn't looking for any compensation, just to offer feedback. The server insisted on bringing us freshly baked cookies for desert. The ambiance was pleasant, so if the kitchen gets its act together, it could be a good experience. As it, I could not recommend it, nor do I plan to return.

    We had a great dinner at small barn. The ambiance and decor was so cute, and the food was delicious. The wait staff was very kind.

    Food was a mixed bag. Chicken main course was superb, but Ahi "special" appetizer was a mess of avocado/guac covering a small amount of tuna. Overall, will definitely go back, but total value proposition (including drinks) needs work.

    Food was amazing and will for sure come back again. The chicken we had was so moist and not dry like others I have had at other places , and pesto sauce is to die for !!! Greta service as well.
