Small Barn is an exciting addition to the Temecula restaurant landscape offering a casual but elevated dining experience in the form of a modern bistro. Three-time Top Chef All-star, Angelo Sosa, has created a menu inspired by classic preparations found on bistro menus around the globe while showcasing the bounty of ingredients produced in the region. The restaurant atmosphere is crafted to be a welcoming gathering place that is beautifully designed and relaxed, but with a vibrant energy that encourages socializing and discovery.

On the site of the historic Knott Family Homestead, Small Barn has brought new life to a landmark building from the early 1900s. Great care has gone into preserving the structure and with it the legacy of a prominent Temecula family that was among the area’s first settlers. Small Barn has maintained the original residential scale and offers extensive outdoor seating including the large wrap-around porch, covered patio and fireside lounge seating.

Fiendishly nestled into a busy corner on old town Temecula‘s main drag, chef Angelos new restaurant is offering insanely imaginative and well designed plates at quite honestly great prices. The menu, from starters through dessert, need to be mined several times to taste everything. We had Petaluma chicken and salmon one day and broccolini & eggs Benedict the next.

Overall nice place to have brunch or lunch. Had to wait even with advance reservations,
wait staff seemed a bit overwhelmed but then settled down. I look forward to going back again soon

Unfortunately we were sitting the sun, so it got a little warm, however the ambiance is wonderful, the food is good. Our server was very nice, but the drinks and food are slow to arrive.

We had 9:30pm reservations, and have eaten here several times. Tonight was the first time we had guests, and it was so embarrassing for us to have raved about Small Barn, only to have been so rushed with ordering drinks and food as they were closing the kitchen soon. Who does that?!!!! So disappointing after having given such rave reviews.

We had heard great things about Small Barn and it did not disappoint. The atmosphere was rustic and fit perfect for the area. We loved the quaint ambiance and being so close to the street traffic really did not subtract from that. The server explained the menu well and suggested sharing each other’s plates. That was a wonderful suggestion so we ordered something each of us would eat. I had the pan seared Faroe Island salmon and my wife chose the herb roasted Petaluma chicken. These dishes were beautifully prepared and the presentation was top quality. The meat was perfectly cooked and moist. The fish was the seared perfect on the skin side and probably the best salmon I have had. We also opted for the cake at dessert which was delicious. Everything was made from scratch. In fact all ingredients were fresh and made that day. Prices were great considering the style of plating. Ranges from $17-$24 on average. Definitely will go back. We made reservations two weeks ahead and still ate around 5pm. So what plan ahead.

Every dish, every bite was perfection. We had a great waiter, shade on the patio, margaritas, poke, watermelon salad, the burger, fries, tomato soup, grilled cheese, beef with chimichurri, asparagus, chocolate cake, peanut butter ice cream, cookies and almond milk......everything was soooo good. We drove out from Orange County, you will need a reservation and you will have a great meal. And the aesthetic is lovely.

We loved everything about this place. It is centered in the middle of downtown Old Temecula. Perfect to sit Nd have a few drinks and people watch 🙂. The food was amazing. There was nothing we did not like. The watermelon salad was my favorite 😍 it’s definitely a place we would come back to.

The host at Small Barn are absolutely the best! The vibe is always great. They made mine and my daughters night out absolutely amazing! The service is a little slow and not sure that’s the servers fault. Looks like they have them taking on more than they should but still not terrible service. Bussers are great and the food.... wow! The food is amazing

The service was very slow. The food servings were very small, they said the salmon didn’t come with anything else as sides, so I ordered a side of asparagus for extra money and it came with 4 pieces of asparagus cut in half so it looked like 8 pieces. The salmon filet was very small too. The ahi tuna came and it is usually in cubes, The picture on their website was cubed, but it came out like a purée. Really weird and it didn’t come with anything like chips to eat with it like you see in all other restaurants. They recommended
The chocolate cake for dessert so we ordered it, but the caramel that came with it was so salty, we couldn’t eat it.. I know they are new but they need to work on their menu, make it taste better, more value for your buck... I went away hungry and spent 150.00 for two people.. I heard it was a good restaurant and I gave it a try, I won’t be going back..

The food was A-MAZ-ING!!!!
I'm hoping that on our next visit that the service will bump up a notch.
Service time for our drinks was slow, after 2 request for a wine chiller for our white wine bottle, I went to the bar myself to get it. It also took several request to get the sun shade down for our outside dining. Understanding that with Covid things are a slow go, we gave it the necessary grace. Had the service been better the experience would of been top notch. I might add that there was not one bit of deliciousness left on our plates when we were done, we even commented to each other "wow we ate every single bit" The portion size were satisfying plus.

Can't say I loved the barn door on the restroom, it allowed a vulnerable openness to the sink and mirrored area, a lady needs to primp, without audience of the bar!

The place is really cute. Food was pretty good as well. Only complaint was that we were seated in what was probably a waiting area pre-COVID. But understandably they have to make due with what they have. It just wasn’t comfortable to sit and eat at. It was a bench with coffee type tables. And we are tall individuals so we had no leg room either because there was nowhere to move the table to since we were in such a small place. I wish they would have asked if we were going to be having lunch or just cocktails and sat us accordingly. Where we sat was not conducive to eating.

This is such a charming barn style restaurant. You can tell the took time on all the small details. It's very farm like with a modern twist. The food was delicious. The service was outstanding. Very attentive! You can tell they take pride in satisfying their customers.

Love the ambiance and the food and drinks, however this place is not cheap! Went for a girls night and did enjoy ourselves, but they don’t tell you when the last call for drinks was or when the kitchen closed so that was disappointing in regards to service. Will definitely come back!

Awesome experience. From the moment we arrived to the time we left. We had reservations and we were seated very promptly. We got the best table a bit sunny but we love the location. Great service, beautiful colorful, delicious dishes. "Even the eye candy dessert"! Mario Lopez was on the house lol. Great experience highly recommend.

Very friendly hostess & server, chicken was a smidge dry, the salmon needed a salad or something else with it, outside dining was beautiful but those foot rests for tables need to go, salmon was cooked perfectly, desert was super yummy and I love all the gluten free options

We went here to celebrate our anniversary. Outside seating only at this time. We had reservations for 5:30 on a Thursday and were seated promptly. Noticing several empty tables I doubt reservations would've been necessary. Within a couple of minutes we were greeted by our server who took our drink and food order. She did explain that due to the goal of fresh prepared food, items are served as they are prepared and may arrive at different times. However our food arrived 5 - 10 minutes BEFORE our drinks (Old Fashioned and glass of wine). A side note on my OF; I was a bit taken aback when it was served with no ice, cool, definitely not cold. The OF is a cocktail served on rocks, the bigger, the better so as to minimize dilution from melting ice. It was also on the small side. I was expecting a more generous pour for $12. Fresh, hot food is a wonderful idea but our server should have suggested holding the food order until at least we were served our drinks. My wife ordered tomato soup and grilled cheese. Note, very small serving size of each, more like appetizer portions. The soup was hot and quite tasty but the sandwich appeared to be 95% bread and only 5% cheese: hardly enough to color the bread! It was the least amount of cheese I've ever seen on a grilled cheese. She did comment that the bread was delicious.
I ordered the Petaluma chicken which was served with pesto sauce and topped with arugula salad. This was very good, and an adequate serving size. I would order this again.
Overall, for the most part, a good, new establishment with a few little bugs to work out. As I do most establishments (at least in my area) I will revisit and update my review.

Tried this place out on a Sunday with the fam. Chose to be adventurous and ordered items that sounded good but were unsure. Choices far exceeded our expectations. Most of the food was amazing, full of flavor and nice pairings.

Although we love creme brûlée we weren’t ready for corn brûlée. Also - music volume kept going up so loud we couldn’t hear each other at a small table and then the volume would drop very low. Something loud enough to hear but not so loud it ruins the experience

Great "neighborhood gem" in old town Temecula. Reasonable priced menu - somewhat unique entries. We were there on Sunday for brunch. Try their Petaluma chicken with pestachio pesto and aragula salad. Great service. The owner checks on you to make sure everything you wanted is to order. We will definitely return, and bring friends.

This is the best restaurant in town. The chef is amazing. Service is excellent. All the food is fresh and really good quality. I really love the steak with chimichurri on top, and the watermelon cubes with cheese. The drinks are also really good.

Food was well prepared and beautifully presented. Some things were spicier than described. The waitress was slow but the other service was good. Being outside on the street can be noisy, but overall this is a great addition to the Old Town dining area.
