We came for the valentines tasting menu after donating blood. Restaurant decor is a bit too hotel, business-y to be romantic. I think it would have been better if you were by the window with a view but we were stuck in the corner behind the server station. It would have been nice to have had some of the floral decoration throughout for everyone to enjoy instead of just in the centre section. My partner didn’t even see it until we left. They had speakers in the ceiling but it was quite echoey so gave the effect of being underwater. It sounded like someone was playing music next door rather than there being an atmosphere. The food was absolutely delicious. The lobster ravioli in particular was a revelation. The music was odd. The staff overall were friendly and professional. One waiter poured my tea in really strange way which meant the boiled water ran down the pot and onto my hands and lap. He didn’t notice until I cried out to which he apologised and ran away, leaving me with a sodden tablecloth and lap. In the end I had to mention it to the host as I didn’t think I should pay for the tea that was half poured over me and the table. He took service charge and tea off the bill which was nice but I don’t think I’d really recommend the experience even though the food was amazing.

Lovely waiter. Food was slow but they did give us an extra glass of Prosecco beyond the time limit to make up for it. They also found us a table in the bar after our meal which was great.

It has been a very long time since we were at Skylon. We went on Friday 7 Feb. taking advantage of the evening standard special menu. It's a lovely restaurant, with great views over the Thames. All dishes were good. The music wasn't too loud, but in my view wasn't necessary at all - the place already has a good buzz.

Excellent food, wonderful river views, and great service when you are relying on it for pre-event dining at the South Bank!

The food was lovely as usual. Although the waiters misheard and served me two incorrect dishes, they were very attentive in manner and very pleasant as well as apologetic. We had a really enjoyable evening and the ambience was lovely. I will return again. Thanks.

Service was not up to the standard I was used to from Skylon. Stood at entrance 5 minutes before someone came. Then I was not asked whether I wanted my coat checked in. Waiter took 15 minutes to come back for our order (we had to ask). He said the roast did not come with potatoes so we ordered fries. Then it arrived with roast potatoes. The deal was bottomless Bordeaux but we had to ask for glasses to be refilled after sitting empty for 10 minutes. Overall the restaurant was busy but not overly so. Food was good but Roastbeef was a Bit tough. One of us wanted a salmon starter and the we found out that ist was sold out. Not a great experience. I loved the food and service at Skylon in the past and had recommended it to my friends but frankly this was a bit of an embarrassment.

The food was outstanding - our compliments to the chef who I believe was called Oritz.

The only very minor downside was the service as we had several people asking us for our order (both in the bar area and at our table) even after we had already ordered.

We loved it and would definitely go again!

Business diner with 3 UK-based colleagues and one from the USA.
To my surprise, none of them had ever been to the RFH before so they enjoyed the location, views & architecture as much as the food!
We assembled at the bar - service was a bit slow but the prices are very sensible & there's a nice, lively ambience in that area.
The views are breathtaking from tables close to the picture windows.
Set meal was very good - starters were OK, mains were better with the fish the outstanding choice.
Nice selection of well executed sweets.
We weren't rushed to leave which was a bonus.
Definitely a place to go back to.

Pre-theatre meal from the Evening Standard menu - absolutely delicious. Wonderful views from our table and very attentive service. We went off to the theatre feeling thoroughly spoiled.

Have eaten here on numerous occasions and have never been disappointed.

We dined before a piano recital and I am so happy that we booked Skylon. We chose the 3 course pre-theatre but ran out of time, and the staff graciously allowed us to return after the recital for coffee and dessert. Wonderful. We will return

Service was over zealous. Waiters felt disorganised, and made us feel rushed and hounded. Shame as food was delicious.

Pre-theatre menu worked very well - classy food arriving promptly for reasonable price. Would have preferred more wines by the glass (no prosecco!) And they could do with more credit card readers as we had to wait 10 minutes to pay when keen to leave but these are minor quibbles which can easily be addressed.

I very much enjoyed my meal at Skylon but found the range of wine at the bar very limited. If you are dining, you should be able to have the same wine. Due to this, I was required to pay £12.50 for one glass, which is very expensive. I also felt that the variety of courses is limited so I was required to have Gnocci which cost £21.00, again, this is a lot for a bland, vegetarian dish.

The meal was very expensive for what it was, whilst the staff are very friendly and attentive, the overall cost spoilt the dining experience for me.

This is one good restaurant, The staff are very attentive indeed, not over bearing , just right. Had lunch here with a friend, and the food was excellent, not to much that you were full up, and not a couple of chips with peas and your asking for more. It was just right , which leads us into dessert. I had the chocolate bomb dessert, truly wonderful and a coffee to finish. A truly memorable experience .

I would like to thank Mehmet and his team for a wonderful experience, !!

Skylon has been a firm favourite for a while and while this visit didn’t disappoint on food or service, the change in layout of the restaurant (single format rather than grill and fine dining) brought down the overall experience and made it more suited to every day dining rather than formal/special occasion. As a result, we’d be less likely to come back for evening meals.

My mum and I took advantage of the pre theatre menu and weren’t disappointed. We started off with a refreshing cocktail and then we polished off our food. We were lucky to have a view overlooking the River Thames too.
I would not hesitate in recommending the Skylon to others.

I have been to Skylon on a number of occasions and has been very good. Service was lacking somewhat this time. Wasn’t overly busy and there were plenty of staff. Wasn’t sure if it was due to new team members. Had to ask to order drinks, tried to take way starter even though was still being eaten !! Had to ask for our wine to be topped up as they take the white wine away, etc etc. We did mention it when one of the party had her wine glass removed and we were still drinking!! No conversation or did we want more drinks etc. When it was mentioned, we did get looked after by the Manager and far more attentive service. Went some way to help. Food was nice. Has put me off recommending and I hope they get service back to a better level.

It was very loud and they forgot to bring my salad. The food was pretty good, but it was so incredibly loud. The view wasn’t as good as anticipated. We were seated by the large windows, however they were covered in a film outside (dirt?). There were tents placed outside the windows, also partially blocking the view of the river. I just don’t think the reviews lived up to our experience. It was overall an okay experience, I probably will not return with so many alternative options for dining in London.
