All four dishes we ordered were terrific. Will return, even if not attending the Guthrie.
A very enjoyable meal and evening. Would be pleased to return for another special occasion.
1st Time at sea change! I would definitely go back! Peter was exceptional! He went over and above to meet our needs! He had great recommendations! On top of it all one of us had left our gloves and the restaurant called to inform us!
Imaginative fresh food and superb personal service without hovering. Great location for Theater or Mill Museum.
We had been wanting to go to this restaurant for a while, finally made it and what a disappointment!
Salad description was divine, but there were not enough beets, and the salad was drenched in dressing. Then my husband had the ribeye steak - it was tough, overdone and lacked flavor. I ordered the mussels in a Thai broth, it was really a shame. It seems that people in charge of the kitchen do not taste or care for the food.
The only good part was the service. I will not be back and hope someone in management does something to improve the food coming out of the kitchen.
restaurant temperature was finally comfortable and warm. Food was piping hot, service attentive.
Steak wasn’t very tender. Branzino was ok, but not great. Chicken was just fine. Octopus was awesome. Server forgot some things we requested. Ambiance was fantastic and so we expected more from the food.
A really nice restaurant with great food. Great service. Friendly staff
We had a great evening before going to see The Christmas Carol. The entire staff was amazing, as usual. Our server Phillipe was particularly attentive and pleasant. Every dish that we had was better than the previous one. We really enjoyed the Iceberg salad and the Scallop entree. Thank you again for another great experience!
Solo dinner before heading upstairs to see A Christmas Carol. The environment was festive with lots of families. The service was excellent. Finally, my meal was superb. Always a great time at Sea Change.
An otherwise nice dinner was ruined by poor service. We arrived early (5:45) so we could have a leisurely dinner. However, the service was so slow that we were almost late for the play. It took almost 45 minutes for the appetizers to arrive, and the main course arrived after 7:00, so it ended up being a rush to eat, get the kids to the bathroom and up to the play on time. That was terribly disappointing for so expensive of a meal.
This was a family event to kick off the Christmas season. We were very disappointed in the service. The reservations were at 5:45pm and we didn't get served dinner until after 7pm! We intentionally made early reservations to be able to eat then walk around before attending the Christmas Carol at 7:30pm. In between appetizers and main course staff took away clean utensils instead of dirty ones and removed water glasses without replacing them. Initial drink order of wine took almost 30 minutes to serve. Overall it was a slow, stressful experience and we would not recommend. Too bad as the environment is nice and space is convenient for performances.
Fish was excellent, service fine, room is cold … temp.
Always special! The octopus starter was amazing, scallops superb, striped bass fantastic. Wine list terrific. They don't rush you but make sure you get to your show. One of my favorites, anywhere.
Food was excellent. Service was slower and less attentive than I would have liked. Restaurant was cold at first.
The food was very good, definitely 4 star. We had quiche special, fish cake benedict, salmon sandwich, breakfast and fish and chips. Service was a bit slower than usual, crowded restaurant and perhaps not enough servers?
Really enjoyed the experience. Well versed in getting customers out for show
Food was quite tasty and well presented. Ambience was comfortable and quiet. Location next to Guthrie is terrific. However I had a bad experience with my waiter who seemed to ignore me (perhaps as a single diner?) while paying lots of attention to table next to me (4 person group?). He checked on me once after food was served but that was it. He simply handed me dessert menu without asking if I wanted it then left immediately. I had to flag him down to order dessert after 10 minutes by calling out to him while he made third visit to table near me. I realize that single diners don't leave as much of a tip as a multiple table. But as I've dined most of the time alone, I've never been ignored as much as this waiter did. Definitely affected my overall experience of the evening.
Sea Change never disappoints. I usually have lunch or brunch there before a show at the Guthrie, but this was dinner. My server was knowledgeable and helpful, and service was prompt, but not hurried.
I started with a Tattersall martini and 6 perfect East Coast oysters, followed by two sea urchins and mussels ina slightly spicy Asian broth. I would love to drink a cup of that broth.
All in all, it was a wonderful meal. I’ll be back, I hope soon.
The food was phenomenal. The oysters were delicious! And our server was fantastic!
Overpriced average scallops atop a tasteless slab of bread substance. But the beet salad was very tasty and fresh. Think I'll try Oceanaire next time.
I love the SeaChange, and have been a patron for quite some time now. The food is excellent, but the prices have moved up.
As a gluten intolerant person I have to watch my diet very carefully, and was disappointed to see that, different from other restaurants that have become more aware of their clientele’s dietary needs, SeaChange seems to be going in the other direction. That is too bad.
Of course, it does not change the quality of food and service, just its eligibility as one of my go-to places. Other than that—a good place for a night out.
Delicious food and wonderful service! It’s expensive but worth every penny. Food is beautiful and very wonderful. So much time and care go into providing a superior dining experience. A restaurant that deserves your business and hard-earned money. Wow! It’s amazing.
Great food and service! Recommend you give it a try
The trout was excellent. All food items were fresh and tasty. Wait staff were knowledgeable. Always a good restaurant before a show as they are tuned in to getting you to the theater on time. Very pleasant space.
Food and service were superior, but the Port Flight was the highlight!
The location is ideal for anyone attending a Guthrie performance. The cheese plate appetizer was excellent but the main courses were average. The price point is on par with Capitol Grille or St. Paul Grille but the food and service isn’t at the same level. You are definitely paying for the convenience of the location.
This was a beautiful restaurant to have a very special dinner. The service was a bit off due to the rush coming just before us but overall the food was amazing, the wine was perfect and we had a great time.
Server, I think Phil, was great. Martinis were exceptional and they even made it with Blue Cheese olives. Most enjoyable!
over the past 3 years we have been to over 90 restaurants in the twin cities and sea change continues to offer sophisticated innovated fare and excellent wine pairings... the softly lit, not overly noisy ambience enhances your dining experience... this is the perfect quality place for either a romantic dinner or enjoyable date for 4...enjoy!
Disappointing Quality Control on their food. Staff did bend over backwards to make the experience better.
The food was amazing. The raw oysters hit the spot. It was a nice option for dining before the show. Would definitely return!!
The food is very fresh and very well prepared. The service is haphazard and slow. We went at 6:00 and had tickets for a play at the Guthrie at 7:30. We had time for a drink, an appetizer and a main dish. No salad, no desert -- not enough time.
The drink were made to perfection.
The iceberg salad was surprisingly tasty with a delicious dressing.
The entrees, scallops and branzino, were prepared with a flavorful combination of flavors and textures.
All in all, the dining experience was very satisfying.
A reminder of what food at an excellent restaurant tastes like.
A very pleasant surprise. Great food. Great service. Nice ambiance. Great location for dinner prior to a Guthrie show.
The menu at Sea Change has become old and boring. The website isn’t kept up to date. Their goal is to keep dishes simple and prepared ahead as much as possible to be able to serve as many Guthrie patrons as possible before show time. We dine here several times a year because of the Guthrie connection. Unfortunately I don’t look forward to the dining experience anymore. The ambiance and service are still good, but the menu ... yawn.
Service was poor. No host at the door, and the bartender acted like he didn’t see us for several minutes while he was working, then after there was a small group of people standing at the door he decided to acknowledge us and seat us. Initial wait staff introduced herself to us but then another took a very service for the table. Seemed like we waited a long time without seeing wait staff throughout the meal. Saw plates come out to the wrong tables around us. Not worth the $95 price of brunch, without any alcoholic drinks.
Waiter had many tables. He did the best he could I think.
Dinner before show
Perfect. Wonderful food service and ambiance. I live in NYC and have dined at top restaurants and this was right up there
