Great sushi and amazing whiskey that paired together in an unexpected confluence. Low key ambience made for an intimate evening with friends.
We loved it so much we booked for two more nights that week!
First time at Sandfish. I would highly recomend. Lots of menu choices for sushi and cooked items. Service was excellent and food was outstanding.
Came here on a friend recommendation and reading rave reviews on Eater. Got sat and 20 minutes later still hadn’t been approached about a drink or a welcome. We finally flagged someone down and ordered a drink. Our server then came over but had zero table manner and didn’t even ask how we were or apologize for the delay. Food was mediocre at best. Server never asked if we wanted another drink and we again had to flag someone down to pay our bill. Overall experience a fail. We pretty much felt invisible.
Overall, wonderful. The staff goes above and beyond to make the experience special. Food is very tasty and the combo of whiskey and sushi is spot on.
Best sushi we’ve had in long time! Don’t miss out on this place. It’s amazing.
Really enjoyed the creative twists and flavors in Sandfish's sushi preparation.
Service was inconsistent due to waitress being distracted by a high maintenance table.
They serve what is ordered as they wish to prepare - you may want to pace your order if you want enjoy certain menu items before others ...
Memorable always adore eating here. Sushi is remarkable and high grade. Service is good but not consistently so. I keep going back as often as i can!!
It was good. I have no complaints.
Did not over excite me.
Great food/drink...excellent service. We enjoyed it all...several very unique dishes. I recommend trying the scallops with walnuts!
Excellent service, atmosphere and food. Brussels sprouts were delicious!
Besides being out of avocado, everything was great! Margarita was spot on also.
We were excited to try this unique dining spot but unfortunately didn’t even make it to ordering sushi. First, they directed our party of four to a table where one of the seats was quite literally rubbing against the bar stool at the end of the bar. There was no one seated at the bar at the time but it was clear that both places would be miserable spots to sit. The rest of the dining room was empty so we asked if we could sit at an adjacent table, but the hostess told us she would have to check with her manager?!? Small thing perhaps, but it just set a weird tone.
It was 10 minutes before our waitress came to our table with menus and water, despite the dining room being empty. Our miso soup was barely lukewarm. The waitress spilled one when setting it down so she clearly knew the cold temp but still served it. We asked for warm soup and she bought it back at its correct temp.
We ordered both chicken and beef gyozas, at her recommendation. Both were lukewarm...how can something that is fried and made in house not be steaming? Well, the looked they came out of a bag from the frozen section of a supermarket (and tasted like it too). This and the miso soup made us question their food safety standards and immediately made us uncomfortable ordering any sushi from this SUSHI restaurant.
The jalapeño poppers were equally disappointing—cool concept, but they looked like a jalapeño fell on the floor, collected dust and some tempura scraps and then got in a fight with five different sauces. The spicy edamame was mediocre.
We ordered two different Japanese whiskeys. The waitress was uninformed about the flavor profiles. She asked us what whiskeys we normally like and we described their flavor profiles, but she just recommended their most popular ones. The whiskeys were the best part of the meal, probably because that was the only thing they had no part in making.
Waste of money. One of those spots that looks cool online but is a total disappointment. Avoid it.
Wonderful creative sushi rolls! Everything we had was great. Fun atmosphere!
Excellent find in PS! Friend recommend and we ended up with a new must-do in Palm Springs.
We really loved the food although the restaurant was a bit noisy for our taste.
This place is excellent, food, service, drinks, atmosphere, the whole package. For price, it's incredibly reasonable considering it's surrounded around some pricier Palm Springs restaurants. This is a can't miss spot in Palm Springs.
Incredible food and menu and great drinks. Some of the best sushi we’ve ever eaten.
The food was amazing. The decor was so unique and all the special touches down to the menus did not go unnoticed. On top of it all the food was amazing! Will be coming back every time I am in Palm Springs
I was so impressed with the quality of fish at this restaurant. I assumed when I wanted sushi whilst in the desert I was going to have to pay a premium. And that we did! But it was so worth it. The fish could not have been better quality, the wait staff was super attentive and kind, and the whiskey selection is to die for. Want a cocktail, try the cat nip! I will definitely be back. It's a small restaurant, so our group of 9 was a little crowded, but we didn't mind. The restaurant did a great job of making my 30th birthday celebration memorable!
We celebrated a 30th Birthday party and didn't make all the reservations at one time. The manager was amazing and accommodated our group so we were able to sit 9 at the table. We will return truly a great night and amazing SUSHI.
The sushi is good (better than other places in PS), but for the price I wasn't that impressed. One thing that was super top notch was the brussels sprouts!
I have to say my wife and I eat out a lot. And this is by far the best Sushi place we have ever eaten at and we just finished 2 years of driving around the country in an RV and we ate our way thru and of all the places we ate this one was by far our favorite. I would say one thing was the service was good, but not great our waitress obviously knew one of her tables and spent more time with them than any others. Thus our drinks were a bit slow getting to us but they were great when we got them. She wasn't terrible we still enjoyed our selves our drinks and our food
Really great sushi. Very fresh and well prepared. I would definitely come back!!!
The Yellowtail sashimi melts in your mouth and the jalapeño poppers were delicious. Happy I tried something new and had the Tomcat gin on the rocks. Our server James was very attentive and helpful when it came to choosing what we wanted.
Every dish we gad was delicious. The octopus carpaccio, the jalapeño poppers, the signature rolls and nigiri, all fresh tasting and delicious.
Really poor service and food on the same level as any just around the corner pick-up sushi joint
I was disappointed that they were out of a draft IPA.
Was slightly nervous to eat sushi so far from the ocean but a local bartender confirmed it was amazing so we tried it. Some of the best unagi nigiri I’ve ever had and the hamachi Hama (yellowtail shoulder) fish was incredible. Would definitely recommend and go back. Tempted to get some nigiri on our way out of town!!
Cocktails were fabulous and sushi was yummy! Unfortunately, service was horrible and it really impacted our enjoyment of the meal. If you're paying over $100 for a casual dinner for two people I expect better service than what we received. Everything was incredibly slow, even though when we arrived the restaurant was 75% empty. Sushi dishes were served spaced out with long delays between dishes (about 30 minutes) which was really disappointing because I prefer to eat a variety of rolls rather than one sushi roll all by itself, then wait 30 minutes, eat another solo role, then wait 30 minutes, etc. I understand spacing the rolls out slightly but often times another roll will show up before we're halfway done with the other one, not 30+ minutes later. On top of that, the server never offered another cocktail even though my husband's one and only cocktail was empty by the time the first dish was served - and she'd leave our table too fast for us to order one when she'd put down dishes. She never asked how our food was, if we needed anything, or apologized for the delay until the very end of the meal when another guest in the restaurant got up and left before receiving their bill because they had been waiting over 30 minutes for a bill that never came - at that point suddenly our service improved and they were very prompt in getting payment from us. Overall, we were pretty disappointed with the lack of service and pace of food coming out.
Amazing dinner, I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. The sushi is extremely fresh and the flavors are in perfect harmony.
Great food- lots of fresh sushi options, the rolls were a very large. Had a delicious dinner!
My husband and I had date night we had such a great time. The decor was beautiful the food was amazing what an awesome little place
Great service and Sashimi! And excellent whisky selection, really.
Fabulous, as always!
Just incredibly awesome food in a hip space!! The miso soup is the best. Do NOT miss the scorch olives

It took a very very long time to get drinks.
