The food was mediocre for the price point. Being a value person.. it was not worth the money.
Great experience overall until our server forgot one item, then another one and took forever for those last items. Some type of confusion went on or they went out to buy the lobster :-)
Highest level Japanese food - rivals the best anywhere
Outstanding! Everything we ordered was amazing. Our server was very sweet and diligent. The only thing standard was the edemame. Everything else was a pleasant surprise. What a great sushi. Be prepared for a big check but it will be totally worth it.
Excellent service, even going next door to get little kid-friendly food. Delicious food. Felt like we could have been at a fine-dining restaurant in NYC. A little pricey, but everything was so good from cocktails to sushi to dessert. Black cod was extraordinary.
Sushi chef Kazu executed! Food , drinks, and service was💯!
Excellent food and service. Our waitress was very helpful and attentive. Cool ambience and an overall excellent experience.
Great outdoor space highly recommend
This is my favorite restaurant in the vail valley! It’s a hidden gem!
Food was so so. The appetizer special was awesome but the rest of the meal was average. Service was perfect.
Such a wonderful treat. We enjoyed a date night here while staying at the Ritz. The food was phenomenal and very unique. We look forward to eating here again.
Like the reviews said...food was great, menu is limited and pricey.
Excellent food. Great Service. Would definitely go back.
The best Asian and possibly the best restaurant in the Vail/BC valley. Service impeccable, attentive and pleasant. Food just incredible, period. The filet, the black cod, the ramen, the lobster, the eggplant are all awesome. The management and staff go out of their way every time we go there to make us welcome.
Pricey but a value for what you get!
It was my first time in and I will absolutely come back! The atmosphere comfortable and inviting. My server was Colby and he was fantastic! He was super knowledgeable and gave us great recommendations. The entire staff was friendly and attentive. The food was absolutely delicious, the sushi chef really goes above and beyond! Highly recommend going!
The most amazing service because of Colby, Danny and Michelle. But Chef Kazu takes the experience to the a whole new level of fine dining. We had one of everything on the menu and could not help to enjoy each dish more than the last. Specifically the lobster rolls and wagyu beef... WOW. Can’t wait to eat here again!!!!! Also don’t hesitate to ask the servers/bartenders to create a specialty cocktail just for you! Best dinner experience in Vail Valley. Highly recommend!
Even though sushi was good I found the menu to be very limited as well as over priced.
The food definitely lacked the wow factor . It was healthy clean and good quality but for the pride it should have been off the hook special and it just wasn’t. Next time I want Sushi I’ll go to Matshuisha or our local nozawa in Avon.
Colby was a fantastic server-his recommendations were on point! The sushi is amazing and would definitly recommend going here.
We had an amazing time at Sakaba celebrating a birthday. We enjoyed it so much we can back the next night to celebrate our engagement. We came for drinks and desert but couldn’t help ourselves from ordering a bunch of food. The staff made the whole experience special. The food is expensive but the flavor and experience was worth it. We would be tempted to go again if not for their scarce availability of reservations.
First, the food is excellent. If you are a Japanese Uni fan like my husband, you will be in hog heaven. My kids loved the ramen. The hamachi, eggplant, seabass, and toro were all delicious. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable, making great recommendations for both food and bev. Even the miso Creme brûlée was delicious. All in all a great dinner if a tad pricey, but well worth the dining experience and food!
great night out
service and ambiance superb
awesome food, service and ambiance. Great for a special dinner!!! Love the patio.
The patio is gorgeous (partially enclosed and heated if needed), and sushi was incredible. Make sure to try the ramen too!
Expensive but worth it
Lindsey, Colby, Chris, and Kazu were outstanding! The experience was special and memorable and the sushi was the best in the Vail Valley!
Danny was an incredible server. Food was absolutely wonderful. Highly recommend the beef wagu dish and bubble cocktail.
It was great! Staff was amazing and food was delicious !
The food was delish! The service was probably the best we have had when not sitting at the sushi bar. My only complaint was not the price itself, but that it was listed unclearly. I didn't want to look cheap while sitting with friends so did not ask how the pricing worked and I was in charge of ordering for the table. We had a great meal - not overstuffed - with three or four cocktails per person and it worked out to about $550 per couple. Yikes. Again, no regrets. The staff was great and so was the food, but things got a little out of hand quickly.
Incredible food and service! Chef Kazu had fantastic suggestions and everything was so fresh and delicious. Our server, Colby, was friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. The outside seating is so warm and cozy with the heaters and fireplace. Best sushi spot in the Valley by far. Will definitely be back!
Excellent in every way! Very nice space indoors and awesome covered patio with fireplace outside. Sushi was very fresh and a good size 8 piece portion. Service was excellent! A little pricey but I highly recommend.
Disclaimer: Since Sakaba is in The Ritz-Bachelor Gulch you should be well aware/well prepared to pay a premium for eating here. Sushi, in general, (well...good sushi) isn't cheap on its own. Before sitting down, I'd suggest you mentally and more importantly, financially, prepare yourself to pay at least double what you would at a nice sushi restaurant (not in high-end hotel). Now that all being said...they offer some food options that are definitely outstanding: the warm lobster tail (Composed Hot Bites) was A-MAZING; the Japanese Uni (Composed Cold Bites) was SO FREAKING GOOD; the seaweed salad was refreshing; and the yellowtail (Signature Roll) was awesome!! Some of their other rolls are...eh...ok. For the price, I'd suggest sticking with the yellowtail roll; it had micro cilantro, which I think is better than average/everyday cilantro...flavor-wise. We thought the micro shiso on the spicy tuna roll was a bit overpowering; neither of us love that flavor; luckily, it's easily removable. Their sake selections are stellar; and don't forget to check out their desserts! The service was the best part, honestly! Lindsay was our waitress. She is so friendly, helpful, and fun. We had a very nice evening...a great date night!! Highly recommend (if you can afford it).
Food is outrageously overpriced and the fish itself was not worth the value. Also they over-charged us on our wine that we had to catch.
Hands down the B E S T Sushi I've ever had.
The dishes were masterfully prepared. My family and I love sushi and SAKABA was the gift that kept giving. AMAZING.
Black Cod Miso was melt in your mouth delicious, the Hamachi with Jalepeno to die for and all the rolls elegantly prepared.
Top that off with Mochi and Green Tea Crepe Layer cake makes for an incredibly happy family.
Chef Kazu came out and introduced himself.....humble and gracious.
Do yourself a favor and make it a point to dine here.
I enjoyed our experience at Sakaba the most out of the 2 available restaurants at the Ritz in Beaver Creek. Both Sakaba and Wyld had great service which should be expected at that price point. We (2 of us) had ordered multiple rolls, my favorite being Toro Negri at $48 for a 6 little pieces but It was awesome! The prices are high but at the Ritz they cater to a different class of customer in a resort environment. It’s hard to properly scale the cost/quality/service ratio but I feel for a moderate bottle of wine, dinner and no desert to pay about $450 with tip is excessive for the majority of humans who live on earth.
Having lived on Pearl st in Denver, a block from Sushi Den the gold standard for Sushi in colorado whose consistently putting out amazing food... Sakaba was on par with the quality! However, for the same dinner i had at Sakaba, Sushi Den would have been about $150 with tip for a similar lineup. Side note (if you’re at Sushi den or Izakaya see if they have the Toro Toro available- Still the best fatty tuna roll i’ve ever had)
In conclusion is Sakaba worth 3x the cost of a comparable sushi dinner in Denver??? Maybe... When in Rome!
Amazing experience, amazing food - would definitely go back!
Best Japanese food in the Valley, hands down. The fish tasted like it was right off the boat, in the mountains. Amazing.
Great food, great ambiance and fantastic service. A+
Fabulous food. Miso black cod was excellent. Eggplant outstanding. Great sashimi although we found the portion size of the nigiri to be extremely small. Yes it is very expensive but we had a delightful evening.
