Sagardi Basque Country Chefs is part of SAGARDI GROUP, a large restaurant group championing Basque Gastronomy since 1996, founded by Chef Iñaki López de Viñaspre.

London is the 30th restaurant to launch and is situated in the centre of one of London's most bustling food and drink hubs, Shoreditch.

Simple, healthful cooking including meat and fish grilled over hot coals, marmitako stews, txistorra sausage, Idiazabal sheep’s cheese, “txipirones” (baby squid) and “roxario” salted cod omelette.

If you take your steak as seriously as the Basques do, relish in the restaurants premium red meat Txuleton (chuleton in Spanish) or Txuleta; enormous rib steaks from fattened, old cows that have lived in complete freedom with a 100% natural diet (min 6 years old).

Boasting an array of crafted beverages, a collection of over 200 wines, exquisite champagne, G&T´s, cocktails, traditional Basque vermouth and cider, trendy “perron” glasses and the famous TXAKOLI.

    Pintxos are small plates served at bars and taverns throughout the Basque Country and serve as the backbone of the local cuisine and culture. Chef Iñaki Lopez de Viñaspre has created a tantalising set lunch menu consisting of four authentic pintxos that give homage to the Basque Country. Available in our bar, Monday to Saturday, 12pm-5pm.

    You only get one choice, but it’s a good one: Dry-aged boneless "Txuleton" beef, served with beef dripping roast potatoes, a selection of seasonal vegetables from our Basque Country gardens, homemade Yorkshire puddings and signature gravy. Served from midday until we run out at £35 per person (two people or more).

    A very limited menu every Friday for the next few weeks! You'll be greeted with a glass of Basque cider and the original Basque appetiser, Pintxo Gilda. A skewer made up of pepper, anchovy and olives. Incredible flavour and very typical from the Basque Country. The menu starts with some Jamon Iberico that we're hand-cutting. The fat completely melts in your mouth, releasing the most intense flavours. Followed by croquetas with pan con tomate, chargrilled baby leeks, and Txistorra, a fresh Basque sausage that we're making with the best raw ingredients; fresh minced pork, garlic, salt, parsley and paprika. Juicy sirloin steak from the parrilla, and a warm Basque cheesecake served with a dollop of homemade blueberry jam.

    Menu is designed for groups. If you want to choose your own dish, it is somewhat limiting. There is only one steak cut you can choose if ordering for yourself. The same with the fish. When we went, the only charcoal grilled fish dish I was offered was 1.4kg of monkfish, a bit much. Ended up having pan fried cod. What we had was OK, but had hoped to have eaten something else from the grill. Service wasn't great. One waiter went to see if they had any other fish and never returned. Another who took our order was pretty snooty that we questioned the choices of which there were none. A shame. As I say, it's probably a different experience with a big group where you all share.

    The food was really good and good value for money. We did the Friday set menu and it was good to try everying. Would go again

    Excellent food. Service good. Just a shame it wasn’t busier (Saturday 2pm) as that would have helped the atmosphere

    Indifferent food in odd portion sizes, inconsistent service, felt too much like a chain for the price point they are aiming at. Now I know why I was able to get a table for 4 there at short notice on a Saturday.

    We had a nice night at Sagradi but feels like they are working out some kinks. The hostess at the front desk clearly has no customer service experience. We had a booking on open table which I had booked weeks in advance. She made me look it up on my phone and then proceeded to tell me that open table doesn’t work and that she can “squeeze me in” even though restaurant is 75% empty. The steak was excellent and the sides were also tasty but overall it just felt expensive and just nice. We weren’t blown away. I think if the prices were adjusted and service improved then it could be a really great experience as the concept is really cool and the food is tasty.

    The food was average at best, the portion size for three people was terrible, and service was very slow with not all items coming out at the correct time.

    Food was very expensive and prices were misleading. Service was very very slow and the side dishes were very underwhelming and expensive.
