Russells on Macklind is a neighborhood restaurant that serves seasonal farm to table dinner and weekend brunch. Russells is located in a renovated 100 year old building at the corner of Murdoch and Macklind in the Southampton neighborhood of St. Louis. WE arrived at our table at 7:15, right on time. The waitress arrived to take our order about 7:25. Our food did not arrive until after 8PM..They appeared to be a bit short staffed.

When ordering we were told the owner who manages the menu, etc was off tonight. The food was sub par compared to our prior experience. The red snapper was tough, the pasta was not good and the burger was ordered med rare arrived well done. Very disappointing. We asked for bread, it arrived after we paid the bill.

Food was very very good. I do think it’s a bit overpriced though. It was very loud inside. The sound resonated so it was hard to carry on a normal conversation. Service was poor. We waited 15 minutes before someone came to take our drink order. I would go back again and I thought the food was amazing but the noise and service could be improved on.

Everything was great regarding our dinner at Russell's. Our waitress was very friendly, helpful and good at her job! Food was delicious - I had the Ricotta Angolotti and my husband had the Hand Cut Pasta. Both were outstanding. Ambience was great - we ate outside on the charming deck. We will be back.

The table was not properly set. No knives. Our wait staff could not have cared less about our drinks, however her knowledge of the specials was great. She gave off the impression that she had better places to be. The pot roast was phenomenal and I recommend it to anyone looking for a dish that will remind you of Sunday at Grandma’s house.
