Always good - have been coming here for years and never had a bad experience
A long established business that continues to serve good food with well trained staff.
It was just dead. Food really ordinary and jolly expensive.
A beautiful room
Needs a re think.
abbiamo frequentato questo ristorante in diverse occasioni e possiamo dire che il livello è costante: ottimi i prodotti ed in particolare la carne che è tenera e saporita. Attento anche il servizio. ritorneremo
We came for a pre theatre supper. The restaurant was nearly empty when we arrived at 6pm and it is always so much more exciting when buzzing. We had fillet steak which was a perfect proportion. And wine. Lovely service and we sat in the window.
Fresh and tasty.
The steak was cooked to perfection, the chips delicious and the creme brûlée superb. But, at £60 a head, it was too cramped and noisy. And our guest was sent to a different table from us and came to find us after ten minutes. But yes I would recommend Rowley’s.
This stalwart of the West End dining scene delivers reliable good quality food in a Brasserie atmosphere
Unfortunately as with many of its competitors the price rises lead to a bill that is at the top end of the value spectrum. Great for business lunches
Really lovely steak, cooked to perfection in this charming (if a little noisy) old Mayfair restaurant. Top draw friendly service and I would strongly recommend a meal if in the area.
The steaks are truly delicious and it is quite something to be able to order chateaubriand for one! The decor is almost Parisian and what is nice is that you are dining within an elegant room but don't feel any sort of supercilious air to the place. The position is excellent for the Jermyn Street Theatre and for St James generally.
Steak not up to normal standards and service was slow. Great location but not as good as it used to be overall
FABULOUS FOOD, Great service, attentive without being too intrusive
Chateaubriand kept warm on hot stove was amazing.
One of the best Steaks we have ever had.
Wine list not terribly extensive and the steak cuts not extensive either compared to other steak restaurants - quite narrow choice BUT what we had was amazing.
I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone. Service was very bad, there was an incident with a child going to the toilet in the corner of the restaurant. The staff could have asked the people to bring the child to the bathroom but didn’t even acknowledge there was a problem! There was a lingering smell while people where eating next to the customers. This was a disgrace and the staff should have dealt with this!
Rather expensive, especially wines, but good quality and excellent service.
The Italian waiter and staff were very friendly in serving us as the last customer of the night.
Our table had lamb, aged fillet, and roasted salmon. Everything was excellent and service was outstanding.
Decent steak and very good wine in a discreet and relaxing atmosphere with friendly but non intrusive staff
Overpriced and didn’t get much food for the money. Was expecting something really very good but got a chicken breast and some frozen chips for £28. It was a joke. Sold on the website as a real treat.
Nice restaurant -smart but not too formal and in an excellent location for Piccadilly Circus and the West End.
Very high quality food beautifully cooked, friendly and cheerful staff team but run off their feet on a very busy night. Noise was very difficult for 4 older people to cope with, will ask for be a table by right at the back next time or choose a quieter night. A great evening nevertheless, thank you
If you like steak and chips, this is the place for you. I managed three lots of chips which must be a course record.
Very much enjoyed my first visit to Rowley's, although it has been on my hit-list for a good while now. Superb location and with striking interiors, we settled down to mini fishcakes, entrecote and fillet steaks and a mouth watering tarte tatin for dessert. All dishes were excellent and I plan to return very soon.
Great entrecôte with a great pairing red. Excellent evening
Rowleys is an institution and has been for years. The restaurant has a front and a back, the front is much the better part ambiance-wise, but even when the restaurant is empty they will seat you at the back first.
The lighting at the back is way too bright, and when I asked them to ‘dim’ it I was told it was already as dim as it would go (it was like a school canteen). So I asked to be reseated at the front. This request was asceded to, but with bad grace, which the manager didn’t bother to hide.
The food is spot on (chateaubriand, frites & green beans) and our wine was very good. I love the place but the love is being chipped away each time I go because of the managers approach (this is not the first time).
Great restaurant, friendly staff, great food and wine beautiful ambiance.
A warm and vibrant atmosphere with great service and wonderful food. Highly recommended
Always a favourite, Rowley's never disappoints. This time we had lunch on a Sunday, and for the first time I felt the service was average. The two staff were overworked, not very smiley, and in our case they got the order wrong for two of the main courses. I hope this is just a one-off, and not the future of Rowley's.
Went for a special occasion and even though we were one of only 8 people in the restaurant, 4 staff still inattentive, too busy talking and on their phones.
Food was good although heavily priced. Beer £8 and £9 for a bottle is a tad heavy IMO
Oldest restaurant site didn’t live up to expectations
For the first time the service was slow and unresponsive.
Rowleys is great because it is unpretentious, the food is easy to chose and always top quality.
Great staff, great service.
Well done; been going to Rowleys for over 20 years
Having eaten here many years ago I decided to meet friends here. We all thought the food was very good but found the service a bit erratic.
Lovely for family celebrations. Service was fantastic. Most of the steaks excellent but cote de boeuf dissappointing on this occasion. Love the roquefort butter sauce and all the fries!!
Food average steak tough vastly overpriced very limited starters 4 of us went on the 7 dec would not rush back definitely a tourist restaurant at the price
Fabulous! Great food and attentive but not overbearing service. Good wine list too for all tastes and budgets.
The atmosphere accompany s the stylish food on offer here.
You feel quite special in these city surroundings which is a treat.
The service levels however need to step up to manage your expectations..otherwise its just a yearly visit.
We used to come here years ago and the entrecote-frites was a real treat. Had it this time and it was mediocre - meat quality not great, a little chewy and, irritatingly, already sliced-up - exactly how they do it at the more-upmarket places like Hawksmoor and Goodman. Which is fine there but not what you want from an old school steak-frites place.
Good, efficient, friendly and speedy service though. Starters were fine and the decent house claret went down well. We had a nice time but, as I say, the meat was a little disappointing.
Very tasty meal. Steaks excellent, chips perhaps not up to Relais de Venise standards. Service good overall although waiter was clearly guessing when asked which of the steaks was rare and which better done. Quite pricey but generally decent value for money for a restaurant in this area. I'd definitely go again.
Reliable, old standby, with many repeat customers. Old wooden tables, informal and efficient service.
Entrecote and chips are top choice. But menu as a whole is unchanging and agreeable.
Excellent food as always. Consistently excellent service
