Went for Houston Restaurant Week - great options and everything was wonderful as always!
Always good food and service, even during these weird covid times. So glad to be able to enjoy Roost and hope to do so for years to come.
Our favorite neighborhood place. Very attentive to the COVID situation, so we feel very comfortable when we go. Miss the scallops! Can't wait to see the new menu when it comes out. BTW, the crab cakes are yum!
Memorable food - loved the cauliflower and pork chop, great service and very personable chef / owner! Great experience!
Server did the absolute bare minimum, my tea was old and tasted moldy. I told my waitress and she said nothing, took it and walked away and moved on as if nothing happened. No new tea or different drink or apology. My pork job was good but my wife’s food was partially cold. They looked like they were having trouble managing everything but their is no excuse for poor service from the waitress.
Unique and fun menu. I feel like it's the chef having fun. It's my go-to for a special dinner.
Everything was great. The food was very good and the new menu has some great items to choose from.
Roost is a neighborhood gem! The meal enjoyed was fabulous- Kevin is such an innovative chef!
Love Roost: the food is fantastic and locally sourced, service is attentive but not invasive and the prices are spot on. Also love the steps they have taken to ensure customer's safety during Covid. Thank you, Roost!
Great food, wine selection, and nice/observant staff!
My first experience was definitely a positive one and I will return.
This place was exceptional the food was exceptional. I will return. !!!
We did the early Houston Restaurant Weeks menu and it was delicious and a great value!
Awesome service and great food. It was nice to still have physical distance in place. Thanks!
Always awesome! Thanks Kevin and Dolores!
Fabulous. Great food. Great service.
Excellent service, great food. Always a lovely experience at Roost!
Post-pandemic, this restaurant has done a great job with the distancing of tables, taking reservations in order to follow along with 50% capacity & creating as close to the same ambiance as prior to the pandemic. The food is excellent as always and the service is top-notch. Kudos on how Roost has handled the re-opening!
Wonderful ambiance, good food and friendly, professional staff.
Great meal all the way around - we hosted my parents
We love the place and look forward to dine there again.
Super kind. They placed a sign at our table for our anniversary.
Chef is a genius, crispy fried duck, pan fried chicken and dumplings, uber flavorful ribeye spectacular, this is one of the best restaurants in America let alone Houston
This is absolutely my go-to place for a nice night out and great food. I’ve been there about five or six times now, and it’s a cozy small place with a wonderfully put together menu that changes every few months, so there’ll always be something new to try. They also have a small but great wine and beer selection. For sure one of my favorite, if not, my favorite, places to go. Never been dissatisfied, always pleased. I highly recommend trying them out.
Roost is one of our favorite restaurants in Houston. From the food & wine, to the service, to the ambience, it is consistently charming and delicious. And thanks for always having vegetarian/vegan options! :-)
Excellent service; really good food that was different from your typical fare.
While amidst the Covid reaction.. Good meal, well served, quiet despite being a Friday night through prime time, relaxed European dining pacing. perfect for a group with a conversation interest. certainly will give it a go again.
Food was delicious, our server was just wonderful, didn't catch her name but she was very friendly and knowledgeable. Can't wait to go back!
The chef was amazing he came out with every course and explained the item and the thought behind it ingredients etc! Wow!!
As advertised the restaurant was comfortable, cozy and intimate. The food was an excellent home cooked delight (and the home cook at my house is spectacular...). Andy was our server and he too was exceptional. We will be returning.
Oh, and Monday is happy hour all night.
We’ve dined at Roost over a period of 6 years several times and it has never disappointed. The food is always good, the wait staff pleasant and the ambiance casual and cosy. I think it speaks for itself when a restaurant survives that long in the Houston scene! (And that’s only when we started going, I don’t know when it originally opened) Please keep doing what you’re doing😊
The menu selections are top notch! My favorites include the fried cauliflower and salmon tartare!
It's inside an old house with a 2nd floor, so it has a very cozy atmosphere, dimly lit. Food was very flavorful, and the menu rotates every season. They do keep a few of their staple appetizer items all year round. The mussels, roasted cauliflower, and the garlic cream soup was our favorite.
The famous cauliflower was really good (although pretty greasy) however, the bread service and dips it comes with were soooo good! There’s not a huge selection of food so my husband just got the burger (he knows what he likes and sticks with that) and he thought it was good. I got the roasted chicken and it was very good. They are a little overpriced but you get some great wine/beer deals for happy hour! Overall experience was great.
I like Roost, it’s heaven for H’Town Foodies and I like eating there with a small group. You can order lots of different items and sample your way through the menus. My most recent outing I was there with six others. When I started ordering appetizers, the bread and pickled veggies that I love the waitress keep on cutting me off and telling me that was to much food. The first round, plates were emptied and everyone got a good sample. So onto the entrees and it was the same deal. The waitress panicked and cut me off again. She also panicked after we had two glasses of wine each over the course of two hours and refused to serve any more alcohol for our own safety. Even started questioning who was driving and riding with who. It was the strangest and most obtrusive server experience I have had at a restaurant.....ever..!!! And it was a birthday for one of my guests and we brought a cake and was charged $3/person slicing fee? My conclusion is, do not go to Roost with any more then a table for four because it confuses them. And don’t go there to celebrate anything that involves a cake..!!
Amazing food but totally weird service.
As always, Roost is a cozy and most importantly delicious destination! It has a neighborhood, homey feel and the food is so expertly spiced. Wine bottle prices are fair and approachable. Andy is a wonderful server! We will be back!
This was our second time to Roost, and both times the food was delicious and the service was great. The place is small so it can get a little noisy, but the ambiance is definitely worth it. We will be back!
Always amazing when we visit! The bread service is one thing we always order and then we try a selection or two from their menu as it rotates about every 6-8 weeks.
Very accommodating when we were running behind, incredible food and patient and attentive waitstaff.
