Very small place with great service.
Great food, great service. I had the pork skewers and peanut butter pie. It was all very tasty.
Great food. My salad (there's only one on the menu) was fresh and delicious. The slow dough bread and fried cauliflower were also very good. Not the best atmosphere and service was lacking. But that seems normal post-pandemic.
Service was great, food okay; we had higher expectations based on the food prices. It took a really long time to get our food for an 8pm reservation.
Always friendly with simple but imaginative food! We love Roost!
Great place for Friday night dinner with family. We loved the farm to table menu and yummy wine choices. We particularly enjoyed the cauliflower appetizer (which could easily be a shared side with dinner) and the salmon entre. We didn't have time or room for dessert, but look forward to a return trip to try them out.
Had a great time. Lively atmosphere and attentive staff. We appreciate Dolores and the rest of the team for their work and attention.
Food was a non-event. I had been there previously and loved it. This time it was totally disappointing. No flavor and really bad service. Clearly understaffed.
Fabulous food and Dolores did a great job considering there were only 2 servers. Noise level is so loud , you can’t hear the person in front of you and it was super hot.
food was great. overcrowded noisy room was horrible. packed in as sardines
Another outstanding meal at Roost! Dolores took great care of our family as always. Great to see Kevin in house as well. Highlights were the pork chop, chicken and dumplings and garlic bisque.
The food is always amazing and the menu offers a broad selection. The servers are always top notch. I’ve never been disappointed here.
Incredible first experience at ROOST. amazing waiter - Andy - great food, great drinks and overall great experience. Andy was the best waiter and so knowledgeable! Will definitely be back.
Always enjoy the friendly, homey feeling while eating at Roost! Like being with family!
Excellent food; a crowded and busy Saturday night; noisy!
I had heard many positive and enthusiastic reviews about Roost. Unfortunately, our experience was less than expected. We came for the Houston Restaurant Weeks menu of three courses. The first course was pretty good (cauliflower was tasty and well cooked; the polenta and sauce were nicely done). The second course was less stellar (chicken and dumplings was too salty and the chicken was very dry; the crusted gulf fish lacked depth of flavor and the combination of hot fish on top of a lukewarm beet/orange salad was not a good pairing). The last course was nice, we both ordered the mango sorbet with assorted small fruits of lychee and berries was refreshing. Overall, the dinner was just ok. I'd say the food was underwhelming. The ambience was intimate and nice lighting. For being indoors, it did become a little too warm and the humidity inside at times felt a bit stifling. The wait staff was incredibly courteous and attentive.
Went for the 1st time during Houston RW. The food was delicious! Service was outstanding! Can't wait to go back.
Great food and great service!
This is easily one of the best spots in Houston. Excellent and creative. Get the cauliflower, bread service, and some proteins.
We had read positive reviews of Roost and were not disappointed. Food was creative and extremely well prepared. I had the salad greens with strawberries and candied pecans along with the pan-seared grouper with fennel and fresh herbs. Perfectly prepared and such wonderful flavors! My husband had the pork chop with rice and a sorghum-soy glaze. It was incredible. I had the mango sorbet for dessert which was the perfect ending to the meal. We’ll definitely be back.
Fantastic food. Don’t pass on the cauliflower!
Went for HRW and the food was impeccable (as it always is). Highly recommend Roost to anyone looking for an amazing meal with great ambiance!
Great food and impeccable service. Staff was fantastic.
The AC was not working and that honestly impacted the entire experience.
We had a party of five and the BEST time with the BEST food. The staff are amazing and friendly and this is truly a hidden gem.
Fantastic is the word that comes to mind. Andy was a fantastic server. The food was fantastic. Will absolutely be back. Top of our list now!!!!
We ordered from the Houston Restaurants Week menu. Both my husband and I had the fried cauliflower and pistachio crusted gulf fish. Both were amazing! For dessert he had the donuts and I had the chocolate leches. I tried both and didn’t really have a favorite. We are so much food from the first and second course that dessert just wasn’t appealing! We highly recommend Roost. We will definitely return!!!
I am a return customer
Will be back
It’s was awesome
Roost is a favorite or ours. The crusted gulf fish and seasonal strawberry salad were amazing. A must dine in if in the area.
Every time we come to Roost, we wonder why we don't come every week. Creative food, really nice service staff, just an overall reliable enjoyable meal. We always leave happy. Kudos to ROOST! Enjoy!
Unique place with unique menu. Very enjoyable. Our waiter was very helpful. Will go back n
Everything was stellar. The only drawback was their AC wasn’t working properly. That’s tough during summer in TX. Place was packed, it’s so good to see people out and about again. Our server, Abby, couldn’t have been nicer. Overall, a nice date night for my husband and me.
I’ve been to ROOST about three times. The food and service has always been good; however, they need to upgrade their A/C system. We ended up leaving after we were seated because it was so hot. I’ve been wanting to go back to ROOST since the pandemic. Needless to say, we were very disappointed. Waitress was pleasant and understanding. She asked we write the review because the staff had brought this up to the owner multiple times with no results. Felt bad for the wait staff. They were actually sweating through their clothes. I guess I’ll try again in the winter. What a shame.
The only complaint that I have is that it got a little hot ( not warm) but hot . The place was packed , so the air needed to be on higher …. Everything else was perfect !
We were visiting from Illinois. Very good meal!
Good and service were good. It was hot inside
Our waiter was the absolute best! Knowledgeable in the food and best wine to accompany what we were ordering and even sold us on wonderful mango sorbet!
Excellent food and superior service. We will definitely be back.
