Need some improvements on getting food out hot and my Veal Rizzuto was piled with way too much artichokes. There should be a balance of the toppings. One of our friends was not served with entire group and had to wait at least 10 mins or so for her entree. My partner’s beet salad was delicious. One person had steak and enjoyed it. Definitely should serve the fried Oreos with caramel gelato!!
The food was fabulous. We were early diners, and there was a lot of noise from the bar that kind of spoiled the ambience. They had two competing sound systems going.
They are great owners and the food is outstanding. Well worth the value large portions. Great Italian and steaks are great.
Excellent in every way.
Great food great service! Will visit again soon
Why this place is as popular as it seems, is a mystery to me. The food is mediocre at best. Ordered the lump crabmeat stuffed mushrooms. Could not find any resemblance or taste of crab. When asked, the waiter stated that the crabmeat waste finely minced. My entree was veal picatta, way over cooked and swimming in a butter and caper sauce. Pasta side was tasteless and very dry like it had been sitting out for a long time. My wife had a grilled red fish which she said was good but not great. Crunchy bread was excellent and clearly the best part of the meal. In contrast, the wait staff were very good and eager to please, equal to any fine restaurant.
With so many excellent fine dining establishments in the area, I see no reason to return.
We liked it a lot
It was a great time with friends visiting from out of town. The combination of great food and friends make for a great evening.
Loved the martini and Friday lunch specials. Such great service! Waitress heard that it was a birthday and surprised us with a dessert with candle. Right down the street from me but first time for my girlfriends and they thought it was fabulous. I'll definitely go back -- my new favorite Friday lunch spot!
Just moved our family to Lakeview and right around the corner from Rizzuto's and wanted to support some of the neighborhood places, but what a bad experience.
My husband and I went in with our son to have a nice dinner and celebrate the buying of our new house at 7pm this past Saturday. However, as soon as we were greeted things went wrong. We were met by a well-dressed female hostess and what I assume was the manager on duty. Though the main dining room was only 60% occupied, they had "trouble deciding on a table" and eventually offered to walk us to our table through the server area by the kitchen to the not in use back dining room to a table in the far back corner. Our empty room had only music drifting in from the main room, the lights were on full blast, the candles were not lit.....Clearly a sign that this room was not expected to be used and would have at least been seated by 6:15 – 6:30 had they wanted to use it that night.
We could tell very quickly that we were sat here because of our child and even noticed the hostess felt awkward about it. Sealing the embarrassment for us was that as I spoke with my husband about how embarrassing it was, we heard at the entry to the room, what I assumed to be the owner asking why the table got sat and even that it wasn't ready for use. We politely got up and let them know that we were not going to stay. Wish it would have been better and had they treated us with a child with respect and care they could have gained a regular as we live only a few blocks away.
This was the fourth time I've been to Rizzuto's, the first two being for the Sunday Brunch (which was wonderful every time). The next two times for dinner and again the food was wonderful. I always recommend Rizzuto's to anyone who wants a great meal. I feel the food is great and the prices are a good value.
Everything went well, I thought my meal was great, my wife didn't think much of her main course. Salads were terrific. Wait staff was hot and cold, ok when they showed up, but long spells between visits and didn't come through with a request. Just a few key misses that if corrected would make for a pleasant dining experience. I would go back, but my wife said she would not return.
Excellent meal, offering local ingredients. Wait staff very attentive, notable wine list & delicious cocktails.
This was our first time visiting for Father's Day. We waited patiently for our server. We sat for 10 minutes before the servers assistant came with water. I did not have glasses in my spot, so she skipped me. I assumed she would be back with a glass for me. We didn't see her again until after our entree arrived. I asked our server for a water glass. And again. And yet again after she took our order I asked for water. Finally our server came with water and said sorry I guess we have a shortage of water glasses right now. The restaurant wasn't busy and there were plenty of tables that had no one sitting, but had glasses. The server asked if we had been there before. We said no. She made a few entree recommendations. My friend ordered the wedge salad. I guess he should have asked how big it was or if it was to share. After he ate some of it our server said yeah I guess I should have asked you if you were going to share because it's so big. Umm yeah or at least said it's 3 wedges. Our server highly recommended the soft shell crab special. She said it was the best she's ever had. I got it. I guess she doesn't eat out much. It was bad. Definitely time to change the grease. It was supposed to be topped with lump crab meat and artichokes. I had 1 small piece of crab meat. It was very disappointing. My friend got the pork in red gravy and it was delicious. My son got chicken parm and loved it. Maybe we should have all went with Italian food!
Worst Father’s Day dining experience ever. I’m so embarrassed that I suggested this place to take my father. The service and food were beyond terrible. I can’t believe this place stays in business
Erika is a local gal, gem of a server. You will enjoy the staff and food
This was my first time visiting this restaurant. My fiancé' and I were very impressed. We were a few minutes early for our reservation and they sat right away. The food and service was amazing. We even brought home leftovers which were still good 2 days later. We were in and out on a Saturday night in about 90 minutes. We did spend over the budget but the champagne was well worth it. We will definitely return in the future.
Upscale dining in a comfortable setting. Our wait staff was knowledgeable and personable. The menu was true New Orleans and the food was delicious
The food was exceptional and the service was perfect.
Appetizers very good. Soft shell crab OK but not great.
Ran out of creme brulee dessert special
I'm not sure why I never expect this place to be as good as it turns out to be, but it was awesome as usual! We started with 2 special salads, one with beets and one with scallops. Both of these were exquisite, and able to be shared. We went with the softshell crab special after that – terrific – along with our favorite eggplant dish.
John the waiter: perfect as usual.
Everything we had was delicious. Excellent service. Great place for a special occasion.
Celebrated our daughter’s birthday by going to brunch at this restaurant. We had a enjoyable time.
We always have an excellent meal there, one of our favorites.
The quality of the Food as well as the service is consistently great. One of our favorite places to eat when we go out.
first off let me say that the food at Rizzuto's is very good, if not excellent. But that is where it stops. to call what they call service,"service" would be a stretch. we had 2 friends come in from Houston and we wanted to go somewhere nice..We had been to Rizzuto's twice, without a problem, but last time we had Roland as our waiter and he was johnny on the spot, with every detail, reat waiter!! this time we had to practically beg for bread. after 30 minutes and a couple of excuses we finally got some. our waiter was absent most of the time and could not be found. by the way , the restaurant was 2/3 full, not slammed by any means. it took forever to et a drink. several tables came and went while we sat there. at one point a gentleman came to another table, i asked if he was a manager , he indicated he was. i told him that the service was terrible and we were very upset. his responce was that we have cut back some, he didn't offer an apology or even much more than an acknowledgement, he just walked off, we never saw him again.generally i am a 20%tipper, i really felt i was over tipping with the 10% i did leave, although he didn't deserve much more than that. other friends have had service issues there. are the waiters rookies? possibly they need to hire someone who know how a wait staff is supposed to function. service seems to be a problem at Rizzuto's, and it is a shame because the food is really good, but the service makes you think twice about returning. the food is good, but if you can't get it, what good is it?
Beautiful decor and atmosphere. Food was excellent. Service very good.
Wonderful experience. Excellent drinks, food, and service. I chose this restaurant randomly due to gaining some unexpected free time, and it was a great decision. Highly recommended!
I consider myself a tough critic when it comes to Italian food. I can say definitively that this is the best Italian food in New Orleans. Services was excellent, the wine list was fairly extensive, and the food was wonderful. We will be back.
Way too noisy, couldn't hold a conversation at the table. Won't go back.
The best part of the meal was our waiter. Food was mediocre. Service was very good
Service was wonderful, dinner was wonderful, drinks were wonderful...... need I say more
Excellent Dining Experience. From the very first greeting, we were well taken care of. The service and staff superb. The Menu was full of great choices. Everything was delicious! Drinks, Appetizers, Salads, Entrees, and Dessert. We came home with plenty leftovers! The renovation is clean, simple, and beautiful! And, they took a Polaroid pic of my husband with his complimentary Birthday Dessert!, and printed the pic for us. Grasshopper Martini💗 Such a wonderful experience! We will definitely be back! Thank You!!
Waiter talked too much, bothered some in our party. He was new to this eatery, did not know menu perfectly. Was a very nice gentleman.
Best Italian restaurant in the City. Staff was exceptionally nice, courteous, and knowledgeable.
This place was awesome! The steaks just melted in your mouth! We also loved everything else we had, including the fabulous mushroom salad. Great, great place. We will be back!!!!!
We had a table of 5 at Rizzuto's on a Tuesday evening. Everyone enjoyed our meal. The cocktails were good. They put brandied cherries in their old fashioneds, as everyone should do. They make them with top shelf bourbon and don't put in too much bitters. We had the oyster appetizer. They were good, but not as good as at some other places. They tended to the drier side. The marinated mushroom appetizer was great and very light. Everyone got something different and there were no complaints whatsoever about the veal marsala, the chicken piccata, the veal Rizzuto, the oyster bordelaise pasta or the linguine and clams. Everyone said theirs was excellent! The chocolate cheesecake that we shared for dessert was also very good and I'm not a big fan of cheesecake. 2 of us had espresso martinis for dessert. Yuuummmm! We love this place and are very happy to have it in our West Lakeview neighborhood.
What great service and delicious food! A must go to!!
I was pleasantly surprised at the food my family and I received from Rizzuto's. The portions are HUGE! My mom got a New York strip that was cooked perfectly. The a la carte baked potato was too small for the price. My husband and I both had Italian dishes that were AMAZING and HUGE. I took home a full meal, after eating half of my meal. There was hardly anyone there, so I would have liked the service to be a little more attentive.
