The meal was incredible, was an unexpected excellent dinner.
Restaurant Rizzuto is a unique dining experience. The menu is varietal, but centered around a strong Italian tradition of home-made dishes. Their wine list has offerings for any palate and price range. The service is extremely customer oriented and begins the second you walk in the door. The Hostess remembers your name and makes sure that you are seated at your convenience. We were a table of two and had two people assigned to meet out every need. Rizzutos is not just a pleasure, it is an experience.
The ribeye was perfectly done to my request of medium rare and perfectly delicious. The crab cake had lump meat and just the right seasoning with no fillers. The meal was rounded out by a beet salad that was outstanding in the freshness of the ingredients and dressing. The bolognese and eggplant dishes were excellent done in genuine Italian style as Rizzuto's does so well. We had great service with the courses well timed as always. The food and wine were also well priced and a great value considering the quality and portion size. This is our favorite steak and Italian restaurant in New Orleans area.
Food was delicious and ambience is warm and cozy. Our wait staff was excellent.
My wife and I were very well pleased! The food was superb! Service Superb--tipped about 23%! The only thing lacking is they need more painting or pictures on the walls.
Food was excellent I had the chicken piccata and my husband had B Bill Rizzuto. Both were delicious!
I was disappointed. The food was lukewarm when it reached our table. Nor did the kitchen live up to expectations. Tony Angelo’s occupied this space before Katrina. It was one of the finest restaurant in the metro area. I was praying that Rizzuto’s would be a post-K reboot of its predecessor. It wasn’t . Not sure I’ll return.
The Grouper special was one of the best Grouper dishes I have ever eaten
Food was fabulous, service was outstanding. Bartenders were very personable and drinks were delicious.
My seafood salad was amazing! I was disappointed, however, that they did not honor what I was told when I called the evening before. I specifically asked whether the $1 lunch martinis were offered and was told yes, which was an incentive for bringing a martini-loving Birthday guest with me. It was embarrassing to have to question the waiter and have him come back with a NO after checking with his boss, saying the hostess with whom I spoke wasn't a server and didn't know about prices. My guest was then uncomfortable and said she didn't need a martini. Of course, I paid the $13 but seems like it would have been good business to just give me the $1 price and then set the hostess straight. This was my third Friday lunch visit with 1-2 friends and I've told many others about the deal. Again, I realize it ended but the error was not mine; I called.
Rizzuto's is now my favorite Italian restaurant in New Orleans. Actually, both the Italian dishes and the steaks are excellent. The service is very good and the owners, chef and bartender are very friendly. I have not had a bad meal here and everyone that I've taken there has loved it, as well. I'm so happy to have this great restaurant in my West Lakeview neighborhood!
Had dinner last Sunday for our wedding anniversary. Hannah, our server was great! The only negative about our meal was the bruciuluni that I had ordered was not hot. At best it was room temperature. This should not have happened at a restaurant of this caliber.
Went to Rizzuto's Ristorante & Chop House for dinner with my wife. She had the Chicken Parmesan and I had the Tomahawk Porkchop, which was delicious and tender. It was one of the best porkchops I had ever eaten. The portions were so large that we had enough to take home for lunch the next day. The atmosphere was lovely and the wait staff were amazing. I will definetly be going back in the near future.
While the food was good the service was pretty bad. When we first arrived and sat down at our table it took about 15 minutes for us to get a drink. When we were finally asked if we would like some water, we asked the server for sparkling water. After 5 more minutes of waiting the drink server never came back but our actual waiter showed up and gave us regular water. Not sure what happened between our drink server and waiter but there was definitely no communication or extra care. The problem with trying to get water continued throughout the night. We got there around 8:30 and quickly became the only table around so I cannot say that the problem was caused by the restaurant being busy. After we tried ordering water from the drink server Nate one more time, I gave up after I saw him walk away from our table and go immediately to another table to start setting it up for a potential new client. For the price of this restaurant my expectation was that the service would be better. I guess this place is just better for larger groups.
The Best Steaks in the GNO area. Cooked to perfection. Fork Tender Filet
There were two dishes that we had which were good. The Eggplant Rolatini and the Burrata and Arugala Salad. The pasta -supposedly their homemade pasta- was dry and tasteless. The Veal Piccata was drenched in a heavy lemon/caper cream sauce instead of the traditional light lemon caper sauce. We were seated in a bizarre back room corner of the restaurant surrounded on two side by heavy red draperies eventhough there were many other tables available. We asked to move and our waiter was very agreeable to this idea which make our experience a bit better. I ordered vodka with a twist of lemon and had a wedge of lemon in my drink. Same for the two men at the table who ordered Sazeracs-lemon slice instead of just the peel. Weird. Overall it was a big dissapointment and we will not return.
Fantastic food! Impeccable service!
Enjoyed our meals and service. Had leftovers as well. Only complaint was only one walkway to the restaurant. Was raining when we arrived and walked through the grass to the front door, otherwise would have gotten more wet going around to the side walk.
Good and staff were great!
Can’t go wrong at Rizzuto’s. Best meatballs EVER! I had a craving for chicken piccata & was not let down. Great martinis, decent wine list, good times with good friends. As well, my kids love coming here...
It was our anniversary and we hadn't yet tried Rizzutos, so I made a reservation and away we went. I always try to find the positives when I write these reviews, but this place left me wanting more. The dining room is nicely decorated and comfortable. They sat us adjacent to the entrance to the kitchen despite the dining room when we arrived being about 20% occupied. It was a very busy area, but it didn't bother us. The only staff member who acknowledged our anniversary was the hostess. That was somewhat disappointing. I had the baked oysters as an appetizer. They could have been baked slightly longer but they had a nice flavor. My wife had the eggplant valentina. She raved about it; even better than Tony Angelos version. We both had a veal dish for our entrees. Both were barely warm when served and mine was rather tough, but we were enjoying our evening. I think it was somewhere during our entrees that our server lost interest in us. To be fair the room had filled up and he had gotten busier. He finally arrived for a dessert order, which he impressively verbalized because of some issue with the printed menu. We ordered a coffee, a cappuccino, and a shared dessert. The coffees came, and were completed before the dessert ever arrived. No offer of refills was made. We did not let this experience ruin our special day, but I had certainly expected more. My last comment concerns the managers. There appeared to be 2 on duty. They both worked the main room and the private rooms greeting old friends and many like us who were trying their establishment for the first time. Very commendable. It appeared that they stopped by every table with one exception....ours. I know it sounds childish, but we were disappointed that our special night was not special to the the staff or management of this establishment.
first time here since Tony Angelo's. Had heard good things. Appetizers were outstanding, very generous and priced reasonably. One of our party had a little problem with the pasta alfredo, but the wait staff and then the manager went out of their way to fix it and well they did. the other entrees were very good. we all agreed that we would definitely return. I think they will do well in a very tough restaurant town.
This was not our first visit to this restaurant. Our last visit was wonderful but this visit seemed like we had gone to a different restaurant. Quality of food was not equal to cost of food. Two sides were brought out cold and overcooked to the point of being burnt. Waitress was hyper, overbearing, and annoying . Very disappointed. Will not return nor recommend.
Need some improvements on getting food out hot and my Veal Rizzuto was piled with way too much artichokes. There should be a balance of the toppings. One of our friends was not served with entire group and had to wait at least 10 mins or so for her entree. My partner’s beet salad was delicious. One person had steak and enjoyed it. Definitely should serve the fried Oreos with caramel gelato!!
The food was fabulous. We were early diners, and there was a lot of noise from the bar that kind of spoiled the ambience. They had two competing sound systems going.
They are great owners and the food is outstanding. Well worth the value large portions. Great Italian and steaks are great.
Excellent in every way.
Great food great service! Will visit again soon
Why this place is as popular as it seems, is a mystery to me. The food is mediocre at best. Ordered the lump crabmeat stuffed mushrooms. Could not find any resemblance or taste of crab. When asked, the waiter stated that the crabmeat waste finely minced. My entree was veal picatta, way over cooked and swimming in a butter and caper sauce. Pasta side was tasteless and very dry like it had been sitting out for a long time. My wife had a grilled red fish which she said was good but not great. Crunchy bread was excellent and clearly the best part of the meal. In contrast, the wait staff were very good and eager to please, equal to any fine restaurant.
With so many excellent fine dining establishments in the area, I see no reason to return.
We liked it a lot
It was a great time with friends visiting from out of town. The combination of great food and friends make for a great evening.
Loved the martini and Friday lunch specials. Such great service! Waitress heard that it was a birthday and surprised us with a dessert with candle. Right down the street from me but first time for my girlfriends and they thought it was fabulous. I'll definitely go back -- my new favorite Friday lunch spot!
Just moved our family to Lakeview and right around the corner from Rizzuto's and wanted to support some of the neighborhood places, but what a bad experience.
My husband and I went in with our son to have a nice dinner and celebrate the buying of our new house at 7pm this past Saturday. However, as soon as we were greeted things went wrong. We were met by a well-dressed female hostess and what I assume was the manager on duty. Though the main dining room was only 60% occupied, they had "trouble deciding on a table" and eventually offered to walk us to our table through the server area by the kitchen to the not in use back dining room to a table in the far back corner. Our empty room had only music drifting in from the main room, the lights were on full blast, the candles were not lit.....Clearly a sign that this room was not expected to be used and would have at least been seated by 6:15 – 6:30 had they wanted to use it that night.
We could tell very quickly that we were sat here because of our child and even noticed the hostess felt awkward about it. Sealing the embarrassment for us was that as I spoke with my husband about how embarrassing it was, we heard at the entry to the room, what I assumed to be the owner asking why the table got sat and even that it wasn't ready for use. We politely got up and let them know that we were not going to stay. Wish it would have been better and had they treated us with a child with respect and care they could have gained a regular as we live only a few blocks away.
This was the fourth time I've been to Rizzuto's, the first two being for the Sunday Brunch (which was wonderful every time). The next two times for dinner and again the food was wonderful. I always recommend Rizzuto's to anyone who wants a great meal. I feel the food is great and the prices are a good value.
Everything went well, I thought my meal was great, my wife didn't think much of her main course. Salads were terrific. Wait staff was hot and cold, ok when they showed up, but long spells between visits and didn't come through with a request. Just a few key misses that if corrected would make for a pleasant dining experience. I would go back, but my wife said she would not return.
Excellent meal, offering local ingredients. Wait staff very attentive, notable wine list & delicious cocktails.
This was our first time visiting for Father's Day. We waited patiently for our server. We sat for 10 minutes before the servers assistant came with water. I did not have glasses in my spot, so she skipped me. I assumed she would be back with a glass for me. We didn't see her again until after our entree arrived. I asked our server for a water glass. And again. And yet again after she took our order I asked for water. Finally our server came with water and said sorry I guess we have a shortage of water glasses right now. The restaurant wasn't busy and there were plenty of tables that had no one sitting, but had glasses. The server asked if we had been there before. We said no. She made a few entree recommendations. My friend ordered the wedge salad. I guess he should have asked how big it was or if it was to share. After he ate some of it our server said yeah I guess I should have asked you if you were going to share because it's so big. Umm yeah or at least said it's 3 wedges. Our server highly recommended the soft shell crab special. She said it was the best she's ever had. I got it. I guess she doesn't eat out much. It was bad. Definitely time to change the grease. It was supposed to be topped with lump crab meat and artichokes. I had 1 small piece of crab meat. It was very disappointing. My friend got the pork in red gravy and it was delicious. My son got chicken parm and loved it. Maybe we should have all went with Italian food!
Worst Father’s Day dining experience ever. I’m so embarrassed that I suggested this place to take my father. The service and food were beyond terrible. I can’t believe this place stays in business
Erika is a local gal, gem of a server. You will enjoy the staff and food
This was my first time visiting this restaurant. My fiancé' and I were very impressed. We were a few minutes early for our reservation and they sat right away. The food and service was amazing. We even brought home leftovers which were still good 2 days later. We were in and out on a Saturday night in about 90 minutes. We did spend over the budget but the champagne was well worth it. We will definitely return in the future.
