Rio City Café - Sacramento
Rio City Cafe is situated in beautiful historic Old Sacramento, overlooking some of the most prominent landmarks in Sacramento. The Sacramento River runs by our spacious outdoor patio, with spectacular views of the historic Tower Bridge and the Ziggurat (pyramid) building.
Rio City Cafe opened its doors in May of 1994. We display a comfortably casual setting, with indoor and outdoor seating. We can accommodate large parties and banquets, as well as private parties in our banquet room for special occasions. Or just simply enjoy a cocktail or glass of wine and the view in the outdoor cocktail area. During the colder months, enjoy the view from inside near our cozy fireplace.
Food was excellent, our server was warm and treated us like family, there was absolutely nothing wrong with our visit and I will be back!
Outstanding food and service. We enjoyed being on the patio. Our server was very friendly and helpful.
My girlfriend and I went there on a Saturday night to celebrate our mutual birthdays. Very easy getting the reservation online and at the time requested. We were seated quickly and our server was quite nice and well informed of the menu items. She had the salmon & I had the Bistro Filet. Both were very tasty and we would both order them again. We brought our own bottle of wine and the $15 corkage fee was nominal. Overall, a very enjoyable experience.
Awesome Dining service was outstanding great place to dine
Brought my husband here for his birthday dinner. Dinner was great, service was awesome. I wish they would’ve done something for his birthday, but whatever. Will be back!!
Amazing as always
Dine Downtown date night with my wife.
We loved it! We will be making reservations for Valentine’s Day❤️
We went to try their pre-fix dinner. The food was hit and miss. The french onion soup was very salty with a crostini laid on top but no cheese to be seen; the clam chowder was okay. The salmon was nicely cooked but the sauce on it was definitely a miss--tasted like something from a Campbell soup can. The chicken schnitzel was dry and the Alfredo sauce on the tortellini was gummy. The chocolate tort was rich and creamy but the bread pudding looked like a pressed blob of wet bread.
Asked to be seated at the bar since the restaurant was empty. Bartender ignored us for at least 10 minutes. Was then a jerk. We left and dined at the Firehouse instead.
We ordered from the Dine Downtown Sacramento menu. The salmon was divine. The appetizer salad was so good, we agreed we would return just for it. The service was just right. The server didn't hover, but was available when needed. We will definitely return here.
Good place for lunch in warm weather. Sit outside over looking river. My dinner entree meat was just OK and vegetables and potatoes was too cool. Desert was great. Cocktails were great and reasonably priced. Service was top notch.
We have eaten here several times previous. They never disappoint. One of my favorite restaurants in Sac.
Normally I would yes on reccomending this restaurant to a friend but this last experience was not very good. The Coconut Shrimp was horrible, it came out dark brown and tasted like they had not change the oil in the fryer in a LONG time. The Burger was not bad but the fries were cold, so it they did not cook at the same time.
The waitress was OK but seemed very distracted, this was not our best experience at the Rio City Cafe. We ate dinner there on a Saturday night at 6pm and the place was empty, It is obvious why and and I wont be back.
This is a great place for a casual dinning experience. The food was well prepared and flavorful. The restaurants interior was inviting and comfortable. Expect good service from the service team. My family and I have dined at Rio City Cafe a few times and have had a good experience each time.
We went for an anniversary dinner. Nice place with a good view of the river.
Patio located right on the river. Appetizers and entrees were excellent. None of us was hungry enough for dessert. Went back again the next day.
This is probably the best place to see the New Year fireworks from Old Sacramento. We showed up about 30 mins early for our 8:15 dinner reservation but we were seated right away. They have a great deck from where you have an unobstructed view of the Tower Bridge and West Sac Riverwalk. Good food, good value. We'll probably make this a regular New Year's Eve dinner spot.
Excellent food and service. After being seated near the entrance door (in the cold wind draft), we asked to be relocated to a better area, which the staff did.
They were setting up wedding reception and lots of noise. Probably should have have shared that when we made reservation.
Service was great! Fish and chips were too greasy!
I had just arrived in town and chose Rio City as a special place to kick off the holidays together. It was the reward I offered for all coming to pick me up after my travels.
Great wait staff, but food was so-so. The staff was fantastic
Cheesy sourdough wAs amazing appetizer
We had a very pleasant Thanksgiving dinner. The staff was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was delicious and everyone loved what they ordered. The cheese bread appetizer was divine.
Great as always. Thanksgiving dinner was all I’d hoped for. Our server, Andra was delightful.
It was great for a Thanksgiving holiday
As first year empty nesters my wife and I wanted a quiet Thanksgiving dinner out. We made a reservation at Rio City Cafe and were greeted at the door with warm smiles of welcome. Our waitress, Whitney, was attentive and professional, while also exuding the same warmth. We ordered Calamari which was outstanding. I happen to like the red cocktail sauce with mine and they quickly made a flavorful rendition for me. We shared a bowl of butternut squash and a side house salad which were both quite tasty. Then they brought out the main dish, filled to the brim, of turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and brussels sprouts, all of which were satisfyingly filled with flavor. We topped all this off with coffee and s slice of pecan pie (heaven). Ours was a wonderful holiday experience at Rio City Cafe.
Thanksgiving meal. The food quality was very good. The service was efficient and friendly and the food came fast. Pleasant environment.
Great food and service
Food was excellent, a bit pricey for our poor souls, but definitely worth every penny. Service was wonderful and very knowledgeable! Definitely would go again.
My friend’s birthday was Sunday and she and another friend came down to spend the weekend with me to celebrate. I picked the Rio City Cafe because I knew they would like it. We got to sit outside on the heated patio overlooking the river. It was magical. Waiter was great, friendly, attentive, and the food was top notch! Couldn’t have asked for more. Love this restaurant!
We had a great time for our friends Birthday brunch. Service was great. We had reservations and got seated fast. Our table was ready. Food took long to come out. But the food was great.
Nice atmosphere, patio overlooking river, service was good and food was outstanding! Everything we had was delicious. It was a bit on the pricey side but worth it. The clam chowder is some of the best I've ever had. Everything was cooked perfectly and served on time. My only complaint was the pineapple on top of the crab cake wasn't quite ripe. I would definitely go again!
Wonderful food and service. Parking is the only negative.
Nice view of the river from the patio. Excellent service and food.
Great ambiance! Food was amazing & had the perfect table on the outdoor patio looking out on the river! Staff and service was great! Highly recommend!
Food was mediocre at best, had to send a dish back because inedible. Other dishes were just soso. Not much care given to flavor or presentation.
The house salad was amazing and the rosemary fries, which I did not order are a hit. The chicken noodle soup could use some more flavor.
Great view on the deck! Good food and service.
