Food was well prepared but initially prime rib was served cold. This was quickly rectified in a satisfactory manner. It is a very pleasant place to eat with generous spacing between tables.
Service by attendant was slow but congenial.

Last ate there (steaks) 9 years ago. The filet was better than I remembered!

Wish I still drank alcohol to enjoy more of the impressive beverage menu. Despite the fact that my wife and I do not drink alcohol, our server was great and did not treat us like a waste of time and loss of tip money.

Food was good as well as the wine list. Steaks were cooked as requested. Sevice slid off as tables filled. Staffing shortages?

Very nice evening out! Service was great and all of the staff were personable. Food was fantastic if not slightly overpriced (that was a common theme in Santa Fe). Au gratin potatoes, crème brûlée and filets were perfect. Old building had a super cool vibe. I thought it could stand to be “cozied up” a bit, but my husband loved it!

Asked that my salmon be cooked with olive oil instead of the lemon Butter sauce and easy oil. Salmon came absolutely drowned in butter. Broccoli Overcooked. Sitting upon a mushy buttery mess. Carefully ate salmon off the top and abandoned the rest. Partner ordered chicken- also drowned in fat. He picked at it and barely ate. Manager noticed we didn’t eat our food and asked what was wrong and I explained the above. She kindly offered to take my meal off the check but I declined and insisted we pay for what we ordered. The server was indifferent. Partner ordered Pinot Grigio and she brought a glass of red- when we corrected her in a friendly manner her attitude and manner suggested we were mistaken . She took the wrong glass of wine and went into one of the private dining rooms behind us and had a whispered conversation for several minutes before finally taking the glass of wine back and bribing us the correct one. Made us very uncomfortable. Overpriced, inattentive and indifferent service. Food inedible for the most part. Never going back.

I recommend this restaurant. The food was delicious - I had the pork tenderloin and my husband had salmon. We had a very relaxing and enjoyable experience! When we come back to Santa Fe we will definitely dine again at Rio Chama.

The food was good, but the service was terrible.
Our waitress wasn’t very hospitable. She was abrupt when taking our order. She never checked back after our food was served, until we were done. We never got steak knives with our steaks and had to ask for them 2 times before they were brought over, while the food was getting cold. We asked the waiters who delivered our food for bread. We had to ask two more times until we received it.
Additionally, our waitress spent an inordinate amount of time speaking with guests at another table, looking at pictures on a phone, etc.
And, for the prices of the steaks, they could at least be served with a potato.
We had a lovely private table, so we were excited when we arrived, but it was more of a disappointment than a pleasure.

Open table's online reservation process was not aligned with Rio Chama's reservations. We arrived at 4:30pm due to the system informing us of no other reservation accommodations available. However, we learned upon our arrival there were plenty of reservation slots available.

Otherwise, great food, great ambience and great staff!

Meh. The chili relleno with eggs was okay, but the sauce was way too oily. The prime rib hash was slightly better, but the beef was overcooked to well done.

We made reservations for our 43rd anniversary. Our waiter, Jerry, was outstanding. Karen, the host, also made us feel very welcome and even allowed us to say hello to the owner of the restaurant ( a friend from Jackson WY) with a photo op in the bar. Romantic courtyard dining with a fun bar scene.

My friends and I wish we had dined elsewhere. The prices are extraordinarily high. The service was poor throughout the entire meal. The waiter was out of focus and distracted throughout the meal. The wait to order was absurdly long. The waiter was so bad I didn’t tip, the first time in years.
This is Santa Fe dining at its worst. There is no excuse for the overpricing and poor service. I advise you to go elsewhere.

I am reviewing Rio Chama on behalf of my boss- a CPA here in Santa Fe, NM.

To celebrate the end of the tax season, and the end of the chaos our office goes through every year from around February to April (it was to May this year), my boss made reservations here for a party of 5.
He had no issues changing the reservations to add people once our workers decided to bring their significant others.
We even added a new person last minute and there was no issue. That was super nice.

Parking is probably hard if you're not used to city parking. I never even checked if Rio Chama had it's own parking lot since I always usually just park in the giant lot that's down the road and across the street near the Lamy Building.

Getting there and sitting down, the atmosphere and ambiance was perfect! The only bothersome issue we had the whole night was at first there was no music playing, and it was a little too quiet to be comfortable. Our waitress fixed that immediately.

It took a while to get drinks out to us, but our waitress said the bar was getting slammed so we understood. Food came out pretty quick, not too fast, but not "waiting for hours" slow. Food was very good, everyone was happy with what they got, and all the meat dishes were perfectly done.

It was pricey, but well worth it. I really wish I ordered some appetizers- I'd have jumped at at least 4 out of the 6 appetizers offered on the menu-- buuutt my boss was paying for it all and I didn't want to rack him up too much. Appetizers could be priced a tad bit lower in my opinion BUT I never tried any so maybe they are well worth the price.

I also want to note that our waitress (Autumn) was EXTREMLEY strong- willed. She put up with my boss, and basically the entire office being a little too drunk/ happy/ friendly (in my opinion). Having worked in the catering business before, I know how hard it is to put up with people like that everyday, and I commend her. Thank you Autumn!

Our "go-to" restaurant when we come to Santa Fe. Food, wine, bar selections excellent.
Never disappoints. Great shrimp cocktail, salads, entrees - usually get their prime rib- hard to beat! We will keep our tradition of coming here first! Starts our Santa Fe break off right! Oh - carrying a large selections of whiskeys now- had a really nice Rye ! Go there!!

Pre -pandemic I was a frequent customer at Rio Chama so I was excited to return on Mother’s Day. I wanted to give this a 5 star but due to the main course of a 4-course set menu, I cannot. I ordered the Spaghetti with Scallops without the pancetta as I do not eat meat. Unfortunately, when the main course arrived it had pancetta. I sent it back and the server and the restaurant manager were very kind and apologetic. Apparently, it was the fault of the kitchen. I was fine until the corrected main course arrived. It was very soupy with tiny scallops and lots of green olives added for whatever reason. It was barely edible and, in fact, made me sick later in the day. I did not say anything at the the time as I did not want to make a scene. The other courses were delicious.

We have had many dinners here...all very good to great. This was our first dinner since Rio Chama re-opened with the new chef. This dinner was great. Attentive waitstaff, as always. Warm comfortable vibe, quiet dining room. The prime rib was perfectly prepared. The short ribs with risotto was even better. The meat melted in your mouth. I am a member of the Wine Club. If you are a wine lover then you must become a member. The wine list is full of excellent choices from inexpensive to expensive, but bottles are fairly priced and affordable. Wine Club members get fantastic discounts. Great way to enjoy excellent, well-cellared older wines. We had the 2005 Verite....a real treat.

We had a delightful dinner at Rio Chama in Santa Fe. The whiskey list amazed my brother and I enjoyed the Blueberry Smash and my guy had a Roadrunner IPA. We started with the combination appetizer that had huge shrimp, oysters, buffalo sausage, calamari, and shisido peppers. All yummy. Then I had green chili corn chowder and the tomato salad. Both fantastic. My guy had ribs and Buffalo sausage, he couldn’t eat all of it! My brother had prime rib.
We were all delighted with out meals. The service was fantastic. The bartender even came out and chatted whiskey with my brother to make sure he got what he was looking for in his drink.
