Beverage program showcases small production wines, craft beer, seasonally inspired cocktails and a full bar.
Great eats! Excellent service.
Highly recommend Riel Restaurant to anyone looking for great food with an update atmosphere. Everything we ate was delicious - empanadas, oysters, and redfish. We will definitely go back soon.
Great food and service, but due to size of restaurant and maximum tables, it was hard to visit with friends during dinner. Food was inventive and served perfectly. We will definitely go again.
Love, love, love Riel!! One of our go to spots!
Outstanding Service and appetizers were delicious with the exception of briskets(big turnoff)... again outstanding service all the way around but felt menu wasn’t deep enough and needed more Main Entre variety.
Food is consistently good. Service is friendly without being obtrusive.
Good food. Bone Marrow appetizer was not with $18. main courses were somewhat limited.
The rest of the food and wine was very good. Our Server was quick and efficient (but not so friendly).
I’ll come back.
Visited for NYE and had an amazing experience. I appreciate the effort to not do a pre fixe menu. The addition of the spoons and bubbles for NYE was the perfect touch for the celebration. Travis was knowledgeable about the wine and food. Each small plate was thoughtful and delicious. The short rib was very wonderful as well.
Best meal I ate in 2019. Just remarkable across the board.
Our server was terrific!! She took the time to go through the entire menu to identify those items that were Gluten Free or could be made GF! She was attentive, genuinely engaged and even went so far as to write down places in town that might be of interest (after asking what types of things we like to do)!
The food was innovative and our apps and main course were delicious. Though the food temp was borderline cool. Our cocktails were perfect! Dessert is an opportunity for improvement.
I would return for sure!
Good vibes only
Loved the feel and look of the restaurant. Waitstaff was very good. Cabbage rolls were...cabbage rolls. Guess I expected something a little different. While the fish was excellent, the sauce had way too much cornstarch and spoiled it. I will give it another try.
We had a thoroughly enjoyable dining experience. Heather made great recommendations and made us feel at home. The food was excellent.
Counter seating gave a good show of the cook line in action
Great food and ambiance!! We ordered a lot of Apps instead of entrees and it was great!!!
small plates - really creative foods...interesting combinations of tastes... mushroom empanades to DIE FOR. We can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu. It was pretty noisy - but its a happening place! Excellent service.
Staff is always kind and well-versed with menu items and wine-liquor. Dining at Riel is always a treat!
Celebrated our anniversary. Great food and great service! Highly recommend!
Consistently great! Terrific food, service and ambience. So excited to try the Tuesday night butter burgers. Delicious!
This was a very imaginative cuisine experience for out of towner who goes to dozens of major cities each year.
Unisex or female..... Steak was cold. Bartender amazing, staff helpful. Limited menu and quantities.
Excellent service. Eclectic food & wine selection. Not much for vegetarians (me). Good cauliflower app. But not sure if appealing enough to return with so many restaurants......
Popular, extremely noisy place. Great food, excellent service, good valet parking, but oh!, the noise. If you just want a good meal, by all means go. If you wish to have a conversation,. forget it!
Food is underwhelming and overpriced. Service was great. Wouldn’t go back again. There are way way better restaurants in Houston.
It’s been awhile since my sister and I find the time to get dinner so I kept recommending Riel’s because I had very good past experiences with them. So good that I used to go there almost every weekend.
Cauliflower- soggy, barely any kimchi sauce, celery slices and carrots were not great garnishes. Extremely soggy. We didn’t even eat half of it.
Fried rice- it was supposed to be firecracker rice but it was yet again soggy and had this sour taste. Yolk and sour is not a good combination. I remember having this same dish in the past and it was DELICIOUS. This time, I was disappointed.
*15 mins for our entree to arrive*
Hanger steak- cooked medium rare perfectly. Green beans were fresh. Perogies are always delicious. The creamy white sauce was weird so I just picked the steak out.
Truffle caviar perogies- delicious. Sooo good. Not one complaint. They used to only serve them on weekends but I guess it’s everyday now? Which is awesome.
For dessert we ordered the BEES KNEES. I’ve had it before and this time ice cream was completely melted when serve...the server didn’t even care.
Now, the service? I can’t remember her name but she had greenish blue hair...she was horrible. So slow. Avoiding eye contact. I used to work at a high end restaurant and whenever I noticed my guest didn’t finish something especially an appetizer I always ask them if there was anything wrong with it. I never just take an almost full appetizer back to the kitchen without asking questions. I always want to make sure my guests feel satisfied for what they’re paying for. She noticed we didn’t like the cauliflower and just took it and left. I’m not asking for a free meal but bc I’ve worked in the restaurant industry, it just comes off like you’re only interested in a high bill and not the service. First time in a long time I tipped 15%...
Excellent food and service. Lovely restaurant. Great Vibe.
We ordered the Houston Chronicle recommended Sliders which are available only on Tuesday. They arrived burnt and dry. The happy hour drinks were a delight. I tried "My mind's playing tricks on me" which is an upgraded margarita. In an effort to continue happy hour, we ordered the brisket, and again was disappointed. The food quality has declined and is not good enough to support happy hour. So sorry
Food was fantastic ,our server always appeared at the right time ,more than I wanted to pay but was worthit.
We went for what I’ll call the chef tasting ... they just kept bringing out savoury little dishes of special items from the menu and some great items off menu as well. The fried rice is always my favourite, the oysters were great as was everything else. Really good wine menu too!
Delicious. Travis was a great waiter. Will definitely go back
Fabulous, creative fare with excellent service and a cozy, hip vibe.
This place never disappoints!!!!!! Food always excellent and service is impeccable
Loved it! Will be back 100%
The meats were amazing: the Montreal smoked meat and hanger steak with pierogi were both excellent. the shishito peppers - which the waiter highly recommended - were extremely meh: peppers drowning in sauces that didn't really work, either together or with peppers. Wines by the glass were OK, not thrilling, but fine.
Easily one of our favorite dining spots in the city!
Would go back in a heartbeat! Super bartenders, inventive delicious cocktails, extremely good food. Do not miss it!!!
The ambience, the wine selection, the location are very good. However, I think the food is overprice. The sizes are very tiny and the taste of it did not blow me away.
Visiting Houston for the weekend and trying new restaurant. With only a reservation for the counter, we were able to get a table due to our early dining time. Interesting menus items. Presentation and explanation were excellent. Enjoyed the experience.
