This was our third time at August. Whenever we are visiting New Orleans we try to get a reservation
I understand that the chef is not the same as the previous time we were there --- But, everything is even better. Our waiter was profesional in every way and service was timed to perfection. Two of our guests went to the restroom just when food was coming out. The waitors turned right around and brought the food back to the kitchen and re-presented the food at the perfect time when we were all at the table.
The food is excellent. Each guest ordered different items and each raved about what they were served.
Wine service was perfect. Even though we lingered over conversation and wine, we never felt rushed
Huge pours on tasting menu
Knowledgeable wait staff
The food is overrated. It was just ok. There are better options in the city.
This is currently the best fine dining restaurant in the city
I can't say that this is the best restaurant in New Orleans, only because I have not tried them all. That being said you would would be hard pressed to find a better restaurant experience. What food and service used to be, what food and service should be. Enjoy!!
Upscale dining with gourmet options aplenty
The Crawfish beignet is a must. While we did not do the tasting menu, items are available for order. my pompano was extraordinary. My husband raves about the swordfish. We're from Florida and are very pick up about our fish. This chef honors the fish choices with a careful hand. Chess pie and dirt cake was the perfect finish.
Absolutely devine experience! My husband and I did the set meal with the wine pairing. Each portion was excellent and made to perfection. The wines matched perfectly and complemented the meals. It was a most enjoyable night!
Everything I expected. Food was phenomenal. Service excellent. Very comfortable.
It was an absolutely exquisite experience to visit the restaurant, and experience great service and delicious cuisine! Absolutely a must visit place!
Our favorite restaurant when we visit New Orleans. Excellent food and the service is beyond compare.
Very unique but challenging menu. Many unusual presentations and choices.
I love the potato gnocchi which our waiter recommended. Followed that with the flounder - probably the best flounder presentation ever.
Nice selection of wines and wind by the glass. Knockout desserts.
Nice service and never felt rushed.
We loved the restaurant...thought the food was delicious and we had a wonderful server. It made for a wonderful evening in New Orleans
We were in town for a conference and decided to make reservations here per recommendations we received. Dinner reservations were full so we ended up coming for lunch on a Monday. My goodness, this place did not disappoint! Service was great, there were big fresh flower arrangements by the entrance (which I love) and the food was just phenomenal. Loved their famous crab gnocchi ! This place exceeded our expectations in every way.
Absolutely wonderful dining experience. We had the tasting menu with wine pairings, and I have to say the pairings really stole the show. We've been to several Michelin rated and '50 best' restaurants, and this was the best pairing we've ever had. Not necessarily the best wines by themselves, but perfectly enhanced the flavors of the dishes. Stellar all around.
Great as always
Food was excellent and wait staff was awesome! Cannot wait to return!
Had the tasting menu with wine pairings. I had the vegetarian version while my husband had the carnivore version. All of the food courses were excellent with the exception of one vegetarian course which was removed from our bill. The portion sizes were rather large for a tasting menu of 5 courses; so pace yourself and only eat half of what is served. Only a few of the wine selections were exceptional; had higher expectations of these. The service was absolutely outstanding and frankly made the evening memorable. Would dine here again, but would order a meal and select my own wine rather than order the tasting menu.
This was our first time to visit Restaurant August and it certainly lived up to its stellar reputation. The menu options demonstrated tremendous range by the chef, coupled with creativity, and finished with great presentation. The service was also exceptional and the staff was very, very knowledgeable regarding the details of each dish and its preparation. We recommend the crawfish beignets, potato gnocchi, lacquered duckling, and the flounder Pontchartrain.
A bit pretentious to be truthful but good tasting. The restaurant seems a bit “full of itself” and grandiose. I prefer more down to earth and straight forward.
Vacationing in New Orleans. Lovely room. Service impeccable and the food was excellent, though the portions were small.
We went for lunch on Friday. The wife got the price fixed and enjoyed each course. I got the fried oyster appetizer and the flounder for my entree. Both were excellent. We look forward to returning.
The food was amazing. I would go herr next time when I wisit
The high priced food was mediocre except for the appetizer egg which was delicious. That cannot be said for either entre, duck or pork loin chop. Could barely hear the music that was not romantic. Ever hear of Sinatra, Dean Martin, Perry Como, Andy Williams? Or are they too expensive for your music budget? Also, being there early with my wife and being put in a side room while the front dining room was nearly empty from the time we got there to the time we left really put us in our place. Unworthy while they supposedly are waiting for better customers to show up that dont. Will not return.
Why four and not five stars? Hands down the most fabulous food. This was my third time to dine here and every time the food has been extraordinary and the wine pairing phenomenal. You will not be disappointed with the food. With that being said, the four instead of five stars is about the hostess and main waiter ( not to be confused with Russell the back up waiter who was lovely). The hostess was rude. I don't know if she thought we were too young to be there or were not dressed to her standard but she certainly gave us the feeling that we weren't supposed to be there. We did not feel that way the other two times we came. The main waiter was also snooty at the beginning. He seemed to come around for quite a bit of the meal but then he disappeared and the service became sub par for the end of the meal. If you have the chance to go to August, you should because the food cannot be beat and the first two times the service could not be beat. Maybe the hostess and waiter were tired from the Mardi Gras experience or just having a bad day.
Food was super overrated and disappointing. Gnocchi was bland and I’m pretty sure missing the crabmeat, steak was underwhelming and have had much better elsewhere.
The wait staff was fabulous and very knowledgeable about everything they served!
A restaurant of exceptional quality and reasonable prices. The menu is not very long so only a few alternatives available but everything was good. Also the recommendations for wine.
This was absolutely the most wonderful overall eating experience my husband & I have shared. From the amazing food, the beautiful architecture (check out the wallpaper in the ladies restroom), the fantastic attention to detail from our server, it was out of this world. I would highly recommend to anyone!
Out standing experience. The duck and pompano were excellent. Great dinner
Booked resies for this place for the bf's birthday. Wasn't disappointed. Excellent from beginning to end! We did the tasting menu with wine pairing. Every bite delicious!
We had great service! The food was phenomenal! Robert and Steven were our servers and were so great!
The food was great and the service was fantastic. I will definitely go back the next time I'm in New Orleans.
The staff was very knowledgeable about food preparation, wine suggestions. The food was absolutely delicious. Very nice ambience, will go back again.
Exceptional experience! Visited for lunch and Erica took excellent care of us - above and beyond the call of duty. Will revisit for sure.
Not as good as other restaurants in this price (Fearrington House Inn- Chapel Hill, NC). Disappointed after seeing this as one of New Orleans most romantic restaurants.
We live in the French Quarter and go to August frequently. Cocktails are awesome and the food is always outstanding. They recently changed Chefs but never missed a beat. The wait staff are very professional and extremely knowledgeable about the various dishes on the menu. New Orleans has many great restaurants but this is our favorite restaurant. The restaurant itself is beautiful and the high ceilings keep the noise to an acceptable level.
Not a bad dining experience, but in this town - with so many options, this needed to be (and should have been) better. Working in the food and beverage industry for more than 40 years, means that my wife and I typically have to postpone our own holiday celebrations as we are busy earning our pennies on those days. We decided to dine at Restaurant August as our Valentine’s Day celebration (3 weeks late) while in NOLA for a conference of the Country’s biggest and best catering operators. We took advantage of the F the rest was very pedestrian by NOLA standards. Sorry Restaurant August but on this night, this should have been (and needed to be) better. But, the restaurant was full - so maybe we were the exception.
The service and the food were both excellent. Highly recommend.
This is a terrific restaurant from top to bottom. Would recommend to anybody.
