excellent food with a 4 course prix fix menu but bring your black card. The meal is worth it as it was delicious and generous portions but be prepared for the sticker shock when the bill comes. The gnocchi is amazing and so was the veal chop. The desserts were incredible too (I recommend the blueberry brown butter tart). Take a date to impress or the wife for an anniversary dinner she wont forget.

Very disappointing. I have eaten at August three previous times and this was clearly a different and disturbing visit. Service was awful-no one poured wine after the initial pour, plates remained on the table for a long time, and courses were service in a rushed and sterile manner. The gnocchi was broken and salty (I have had this dish twice before, so I know what it should be. The breading on the sot shell crab was very heavy and the same as what was on the oyster appetizer--neither of which were good. The veal chop was excellent, but it should have been for the price, although it was medium well, not medium as ordered. At more than $150/person, exclusive of wine, I was very disappointed. Sure, it's a pandemic and the restaurant by their own admission was at 1/2 of the staff, but I did not see 1/2 the price. Given the fact that this was a "big event" for me, and our first dining-out experience since March, my wife and I were crushed....too bad.

The food here was fantastic and the service was superb. We ate the veal chop and lamb. Can’t say which was better because both were the best we ever had before. Every course danced on our tongues. We found our new “favorite” restaurant in New Orleans.

This is a beautiful restaurant in the CBD. We had a wonderful team of servers. Our cocktails were excellent. We did the four course menu, which in retrospect was probably too much. There were no “lighter” options for any course and the portions were not small. I found each dish to be a bit too rich and touch over salted. The dessert (blueberry crumble) was excellent. I would like to go back and order à la carte.

We celebrated the opportunity to dine out again (safely) at one of our city's finest restaurants. All eight dishes included in our two prie fixe meals were spectacular, evidencing both great sourcing of ingredients and genius in the kitchen. Such enjoyment does not come cheap. But everything from the first cocktail to the last sip of coffee was done to perfection.

This is a great restaurant! Service was thoughtful and gracious and the food was delicious! Portions were more than generous - we couldn’t finish our last course. We will definitely be back!

Living in New Orleans we are have lots of great places to dine but Restaurant August is our favorite place. Everything is first class from the cocktails, to the food to the service. Menu is not as extensive as in "normal" times but still has some great choices. This was our second visit since they reopened and we are so glad they are open.

This was one of the best dinners I have ever had in terms of food, service, and ambiance. The tables were filled with locals. John Besh was in the kitchen. The waitstaff was attentive, but followed COVID-19 protocols. I definitely will be back there soon.

The experience was the ultimate in fine dining. Service was outstanding and the complimentary bread, appetizers, and desserts were a treat. The gnocchi black and blue was incredible. If it wouldn't have been frowned upon, I would've licked the plate. As for our entree, the grilled veal chop was underwhelming with it being under seasoned and a bit tough. The hot buttered crab, sweet pea, & summer squash risotto with which was smothered, however, made it so much more palatable. We'll definitely give them another visit!

As always, food was executed to perfection. Service was the right pace. Three course menu for restricted capacity has all the favorites plus something for anyone’s palate. Get out and go see them.

It was by far our favorite dining experience in NOLA, including our visit to Commander's Palace. We own a Cajan Creole restaurant in NY and we came down for inspiration and ideas and August was oir favorite. Our waiter, Chris was outstanding . We are still talking about the food. We will keep coming back

I was looking for a nice place to celebrate birthdays and I remembered going to August about ten years ago and thinking it was a special restaurant with a wonderful ambiance. We must have been in the back room before because The front room where we sat was overly lit and big - not intimate dining at all. We were served cocktails and wine ( not chilled properly) and we sat there for an hour with no bread - just kept refilling our wine glasses. I finally said we needed to order and please bring bread. My shrimp salad was good but unfortunately was not fresh. My husband’s bisque was ok but not served hot. My husband who never complains about his food said his duck was too rare and not good. My flounder was fair. I think the restaurant has gotten overly pretentious and caters only to tourists - a real shame —I hate to think that unsuspecting tourists will eat there and spend exorbitant amounts of money and think that’s representative of New Orleans. John Besh, I’m very disappointed in you. This restaurant either shouldn’t have your name associated with it or you need to give it more attention.

Visiting from out of town. Friend recommended August. Beautiful restaurant Classy place. Very pleasant atmosphere. Great wine list by the glass and bottle. Delightful chef’s starter in an eggshell. Had the shrimp salad. I had the scallops and husband had the flounder. Both were fabulous!! Chris our water gave us excellent service. He recommended the dreamcicle with moscato. It was a divine way to end our wonderful meal. I look forward to returning.

This as our first visit to Restaurant August, received a gift card from a dear friend. First , the waiter and bus service is incredible, fast but not so that you feel being rushed. They are super knowledgeable, they know a lot about the food choices preparation, ingredients, etc. They are very engaging and personable. The food is elegantly prepared, but not pretentious, very tasty and some are quite remarkable. Only one small negative comment, one of the reductions was a bit on the burnt side, bitter tasting. However, this was only a minor distraction, and over all, each dish was well balanced with a good pairing with the sides. This was a special event for us (anniversary) and let me say that it is well worth going there for a special occasion, it is sure to impress. I now wish we has chosen from the Degustation selection, I wish I had been able to taste more of the chef's creation with the wine parings. Our intention is to definitely go back for this. The treats before and after the meal from the chef were awesome and a nice surprise. I have never tasted a chocolate truffle nor a praline so delicious, small bits of the most delicious sweets I have ever eaten. We ordered a dessert, and the chef wrote a cute "Happy Anniversary" message with chocolate on the dish, very nice. As you can see we very much enjoyed the meal. be attentive to the address as the exterior lighting has a lot to be desired, easy to miss at night, also the lighting in the restaurant is very low, so if you are like me and have night vision issues, you will need an aid to read the menu. The bathroom is on the second floor, interesting set up, old New Orleans architecture, so a bit awkward for old people like us. So bottom line, with a very few small criticisms, I would rate this five stars all around.

Service was terrible. It took so long just to get drinks. We were there for two hours and only got one round of drinks with our meal because after we ordered, the waiter never came back. The food was up to par, though.
