coconut cake layered with dark chocolate custard, milk chocolate custard, coconut buttercream, and dark chocolate ganache
Food was delicious, but really rich,a little too much cream sauce.
August is amazing- the service is impeccable and the food is divine. Even in the pandemic it feels special!
We had Mark as our host. He knew it was our anniversary from a previous visit. He was fabulous. Everything was flawless. Fine dining but not fussy.
Sommelier was excellent. Extremely knowledgeable with no pretentiousness. Her recommendation was spectacular and she could have easily sold me a more expensive bottle. Very open and willing to talk, share her knowledge. Food excellent as always. Duck was best I’ve ever eaten. Service was impeccable. Never anything but exceptional. 6th time dining at August, twice since Covid. Excellent effort at safe public dining.
Mostly delicious meal, but the chef has an obsession with finishing salt which made its way onto every dish, including every single dessert . Yummy soft shell crab but disappointing, way too salty veal chop.
We were celebrating our one year anniversary! The food was delicious and the waiter was amazing. The manager on the other hand was straight garbage and completely ruined the night. First off, he looked borderline homeless. His hair was greasy and constantly in his face. We honestly thought he was a busser in a dirty tuxedo. He tried taking our plates of our second course when we politely said no and that we were still working on it he threw his hands up then slapped them on him legs then shook his head and walked away. To top it off when my wife got up to use the restroom. He yelled at her across the entire “fine dining” restaurant to put her mask on or get out! Then said she gave attitude in response! In actuality she was just shocked and confused that it he was even talking to her (because it was completely across the entire restaurant) and in such a manner! It was absolutely appalling. I do not recommend this place to anyone and I will never go here again. Completely unprofessional.
The staff went out of their way to make the evening perfect! Every dish was better than the next!
Always the absolute best. Managed with best Southern style and the service is beyond expectations. You won’t find a menu anywhere like it. Never disappoints.
Great. Fine dining at its New Orleans best.
The food was absolutely amazing. The server staff knew their stuff and made excellent recommendations based on my questions. The food was so amazing. Delicious and put together rather well. Very pleasing to the palate and the eye. Will return again if I ever get back to New Orleans!
A great place for a special night out on a special occasion.
The service, food and dining room are all top-notch. They were clearly prepared to protect diners from Covid.
Restaurant was originally listed on Coolinary website; then when we arrived, we were told they were not participating. We stayed anyway and enjoyed the meal.
Outstanding service. The food was amazing too. Highly recommended.
Amazing dinner. Top notch service and every bite of food was absolutely perfectly prepared.
Always one of our favorite restaurants in New Orleans. They highlight regional cuisine and take it to the next level of sophistication. Very well done and they made us feel welcome.
We had a wonderful time. The cocktails were wonderful and Mark left us alone to enjoy it!! Elise and Mark were great servers. The gnocchis with truffles were amazing as was the soft shell. My husband’s lamb and risotto was also remarkable. We’ve already made our next reservation.
I was a little disappointed that it was a set menu. There was a mess up with one of my courses but the staff took care of it immediately. The food was delicious as always but look forward to when al carte will be back
They are only offering a 4 course prefix menu which is quite expensive (nearly $400 for 2 with one drink each and tip). Some of the dishes were wonderful- the Royal Red shrimp with vegetables, the lobster ravioli, and some were just ok - the shrimp bisque was muddy, the soft shell crab was so-so. Service was good. Good but not worth the money.
Fabulous! Gorgeous restaurant / incredible food / amazing service. A very special treat!
One of the best restaurants in the City;
Top quality food, very well prepared, excellent service.
Always a wonderful experience
This restaurant is amazing, definitely a must visit restaurant in New Orleans, possibly the world. Get the gnocchi, it is outstanding.
We stop in New Orleans just to have dinner here.
Everything was perfect!
A wonderful meal. Our server was Mark and he was amazing.
Usually one of the best restaurants in New Orleans. August is a slow time even without the virus. The food was not up to their usual standards. We eat here 2-3 times a year. We will come back of course, but not one of their best nights. Service is always very good
Fantastic experience. Veal chop was sous vide and grilled and presented above medium rare as ordered. A little chewy. Lamb sirloin fantastic. Pasta course amazing. Service impeccable. Shrimp remoulade great/foie gras was delicious. Memorable night.
Service is always 100%. Food was excellent. Perfect place for a romantic date night.
August used to be one of our favorite restaurants for special occasions. Unfortunately, the present four course prix fixe menu is too much - too expensive and too much food. The first two courses were delicious but rich enough to make a meal. My main course, red snapper, was overcooked and mushy in texture. Another diner’s soft shell crab was good, but no better than fried crab at a beach shack. Doberge cake was uninteresting but we ate a bite or two with the coffee. I left the snapper- not worth bringing home. Won’t be back until the a la carte menu returns.
Restaurant August is one of our favorite restaurants and we are so glad they are open. Understandably the menu is not as extensive as in pre COVID days but its still has enough choices. Food and service are always top notch and its such a nice place to enjoy fine dining. They take COVID restrictions and operations seriously so we feel comfortable going there. Bottom line is August is still a gem to be enjoyed
The food is so amazing. I cannot criticize anything about the taste. My veal chop was unsatisfactory but everything else was over the top. The price is a bit steep but I understand why they're having to charge what they charge right now.
Perfection. Absolute perfection in every way.
Birthday brunch. Wonderful food, excellent service, beautiful dining room. My favorite restaurant.
Everything was wonderful as usual. Great food and service.
We love this restaurant! The food and service is always wonderful. Alexis was amazing!
excellent food with a 4 course prix fix menu but bring your black card. The meal is worth it as it was delicious and generous portions but be prepared for the sticker shock when the bill comes. The gnocchi is amazing and so was the veal chop. The desserts were incredible too (I recommend the blueberry brown butter tart). Take a date to impress or the wife for an anniversary dinner she wont forget.
Food and service was outstanding. Quite pricey but for a special occasion it was a great experience.
Very disappointing. I have eaten at August three previous times and this was clearly a different and disturbing visit. Service was awful-no one poured wine after the initial pour, plates remained on the table for a long time, and courses were service in a rushed and sterile manner. The gnocchi was broken and salty (I have had this dish twice before, so I know what it should be. The breading on the sot shell crab was very heavy and the same as what was on the oyster appetizer--neither of which were good. The veal chop was excellent, but it should have been for the price, although it was medium well, not medium as ordered. At more than $150/person, exclusive of wine, I was very disappointed. Sure, it's a pandemic and the restaurant by their own admission was at 1/2 of the staff, but I did not see 1/2 the price. Given the fact that this was a "big event" for me, and our first dining-out experience since March, my wife and I were crushed....too bad.
