Food was excellent and so was the service. Tables on the patio were well spaced. My only knock is that it's not really an open air patio. There are windows and shades that block air flow and it's a covered roof. Would need to take that into consideration before returning.
LOVED IT! The tequila cart is a nice touch. The decor is super sexy and fun and the food was phenomenal!
Our server Mary was fabulous!
Great food and good service. Enjoyed the atmosphere.
Very pleasant lunch destination. The secret is the sauce for various dishes.
The ambiance was great, we sat in the patio area near a huge fireplace. The food and drink was very delicious. I ordered the red sangria and the chicken tacos with rice and beans. The service was a bit lacking this visit, we didn't see our server as often as we would like.
This is a blend of Mexican and American food in my non-gourmet opinion. The food, while expensive, is wonderful. The service is great. These days of course reservations are de rigueur because of pandemic rules, so there is no waiting. Highly recommend.
Great ambience, attentive service, food served lukewarm after a long wait.
People at the front desk were very nice, professional and elegant. The food is delicious except the ceviche was spicy. The server was very nice and helpful.
4 stars only because they had ran out of steak and mashed potatoes :/
Food was terrible!!!!!
Amazing restaurant, great service, food and drinks were excellent!
I would recommend this place to anyone that wants a nice romantic date
My Valentines Day experience at Red O was phenomenal. The food was spectacular, the service was top notch. I reminisce about the 2 hours that I spent there. It could not have gone any better if I had tried. I was very proud to have been able to dine in at such a fantastic establishment! I would give it 6 stars if I could!
Our waiter, Michael, was excellent! He took great care of us throughout the evening. We were there on Valentines day so everyone else was pretty dressed up. We were a bit more casual, but Michael didn't treat us any different. We started the evening with the house chips and salsa (fresh and tasty). We ordered the Original Ceviche and loved every bite. Michael cooled down some Casa Migos tequila for us to sip on and then my wife ordered the Chilean Sea Bass that Michael highly recommended. I was debating, but Michael had earned my trust so I asked him to help me decide. There was a lobster special and the lamb chop and he guided me to the lamb. He also made sure I got a side of the chimichurri which he said really made that dish pop. We finished off the night with a Jalisco Mule and a Chocolate Lava Cake. Both of which were fantastic. San Diego has lots of great options for food, but I would highly recommend Red O!
Valentine’s Day was really nice, all the women were given a rose upon leaving, and they had a tequila shot cart goi f around when you first sat down. Sever was super nice, attentive and took our picture at the beginning of us taking our shots. Asked if we wanted a before and after picture. Loved the food would definitely go again.
Went on Valentine’s Day to the San Diego RED O I initially wanted to go to the Newport location since I’m from LA but we decided to spend the day in San Diego. The service to get into and out of the restaurant was good very friendly. The place was very busy. I felt like our service wasn’t as attentive to us as he should have been. We got oysters and ahi tuna tartare as the appetizer and both were delicious and fresh. But when it came around to our actual order which was the tomahawk and lobster tail it was very sub par and over priced not worth it at all. The steak came out to be super burnt on the exterior and also not tender at all. Aside from that the taste from the crust was disgusting. The lobster tail was also pretty bland and over cooked. The kitchen could have been under a lot of pressure since it was Valentine’s Day but none the less I wouldn’t serve food of that standard to anyone.
Valentine’s Day date.
Excellent Service! Great atmosphere!
Beautiful for Valentine’s Day! Food was wonderful, gave us a rose for the special event, great service, warm cozy spot by the fireplace. Hosts were super friendly, wonderful valet service. Unforgettable evening.
The food was amazing as the photos! Taylor and the manager Danny took care of us and I appreciate the hospitality! Would definitely go back here for other occasions!
We eat Mexican food all around town and Red O is our favorite spot, it's not just the same old food you get anywhere, there are more unique yet still authentic selections along with the typical tacos and enchiladas and everything is delicious!!!!!
Good experience
Awesome service and food was delicious! I highly recommend! John
Incredible Valentines Brunch!!
Had a GREAT sister-tine's dinner! Restaurant was beautiful, food and drinks were amazing. I LITETALLY finished my WHOLE plate (and I never do that!) Good was THST GOOD! Shout out to our waiter, Andrew aka ANDY😁. Will def be back!
Great experience and food/drinks were delicious 👌
Got there big special which was a large lobster with a tomahawk steak. The lobster was very overcooked and rubbery in parts. The tomahawk was pre-cut when served which was very strange.
We love this restaurant and have been several time but not a good night for the cooks.
Always a great experience
Made reservations for dinner outdoor dining, was placed indoor by the bar, watching UFC at high tables (not the Romantic ambience I had planned for). Inquired about it as my reservations were a month in advance and was told it “was a busy night, and it’s first come first serve”. I get the restaurants are hurting with the pandemic but don’t do reservations if you’re not honoring them. Service was slow, probably because they are understaffed due to a pandemic. Entree weren’t very hot. Drinks were good. Probably won’t go back
Valentine’s Day
Food and ambiance was great. It was on the pricey side for Mexican food but good quality. I enjoyed the tamales appetizer and the carnitas burrito which were both very good. The only disappointment I had was that I asked for an extra plate so I could share with my husband and I was brought a very dirty plate with food crusted on it and the waitress was not around or checking on us to exchange it, so we ended up eating it without the extra plate.
Great experience
Food was fantastic. Decor is beautiful. Margaritas were disappointing.
I was looking forward to a nice weekday dinner at one of my favorite spots but it seems like some things have changed. The salsa lacked flavor, the carnitas taco used to be really tasty, having small chunks of sautéed meat and now they’re using what it looked to be boiled meat without any flavor.... the Chilaxin margarita was fair. Server was nice and remembered our drinks but when my friend and I asked for the parking tickets to be validated and when we got out of the parking lot only one was validated sooo... not a great experience this time 😒 I will have to consider going back...
Great food Great staff
Food was really good and the service was great! Would come back again!
Great service, awesome drinks and wonderful food.
A very pleasant experience
We are there for a couple birthday’s. It was awesome and delicious and the service was great! The two waiters who assisted us were friendly and enjoyable to interact with. 😁
As always, the food was excellent. We requested an outdoor table and while we were seated on the patio, it was almost completely enclosed with heavy canvas curtains. In addition, the manager was walking around talking to people with a mask that was hanging below his nose and sometimes below his mouth. Most of the waitstaff, though super attentive, were also wearing ill-fitting masks. We will definitely go back, but not for a while.
