A little sad. This once great restaurant, the Plum and Spilt Milk, seems to be struggling. Very attentive service, but meagre portions and a cheese plate with just a bit of cheddar and a goats cheese roulade. My guest was happy, so it wasn’t all bad. Wines by the glass were good. Let’s hope for happier days. I will try again. 😊

four of us had the lunch set menu. The ambience was so modern, clean and quiet, with some traditional flavour from the actual building itself. The waiter was super friendly, the food and the wine were great value for money. We had a great time. I strongly recommend.

Food was amazing and such excellent choices. Decor still amazing from the previous restaurant name, it has always been a favourite of mine. Excellent service from the moment we were greeted to being seated to drinks orders and excellent wine and drinks choices. Will be back again.

Great service as we are a group of 6 with 7 luggages. Great help and you should try their set menu, great starter and main. Too bad we have to catch up our train, have to try their cake next time.

Booked this at the very last minute and we were absolutely thrilled at finding this restaurant. Fantastic, professional and personal service. The food was great as were the drinks. Highly recommend. They were great with my daughter who was coeliac too and were well informed about allergens.

Excellent traditional dishes with the odd twist . A major benefit of dining here is the calm environment compared to the more common noisy bustle of Kings across restaurants . Attentive service but not disruptive.

Souless. I asked if a main (quiche) came with salad or did I need a side, was told came with a salad, got a tiny handful of leaves. Not good value for money and not as per the reviews on here.

Excellent food and service at the table. Booking service awful, and reception on arrival atrocious. Not full ever at lunchtime, so no need to book in advance and incur possible £25 per person change or cancellation fee. On arrival the maitre looked up, said hello, then continued to text on phone for a further few mins. No apology or explanation.

My friend and I had the set menu after a very hot day in London. The waiter was brilliant and kept filling our water carafe as we were so dehydrated!. The food was lovely with good sized portions. I have been there before and have booked to come twice more with other groups of friends. So handy for catching the train home as its right next to King's Cross and St Pancras stations.

Great location, and good service. The food was poor though. I had an overcooked, dry pork chop which was close to being inedible, and undercooked new potatoes. A shame, as the location is great.

A nice, sophisticated restaurant with a reasonable European menu. Decor was nicely plush, and atmosphere was quietly soothing. Food for nice, I enjoyed the lamb chop, nicely seared and juicy on the inside. My friend had the chicken cordon bleu, which was perfectly adequate. Nice restaurant, if I am in the area again I would consider going again

Breads were very dry, vegan pasta main was flavourless and lacking substance and steak was significantly over cooked from what was ordered however Vegan Mango Cheesecake was absolutely delicious and its a stunning building, with lovely decorations and furnishings.

Overall a good venue, very convenient. However, for a mid-week early dinner, it was lacking a little atmosphere, the upside being that we could more easily chat. The food was OK, although I think I made a poor choice, not necessarily due to the quality, just that sometimes we choose meals we do not really enjoy. The staff were attendant, courteous and could not be faulted. My friend was very complimentary about the experience.

The highlight was the amazing service we received from the waiter. Menu was a good mix of traditional, vegetarian and vegan. Decent loos and some very cool ante room with incredible decor and parquet flooring which I will come back for.

Booking was brought forward 15 minutes due to and issue with open table (which was fine), i was however disgruntled at been given the bill whilst eating the desserts and with out asking for it.

Myself and 2 girlfriends had afternoon tea for a Sunday treat, and it was absolutely delicious. The setting is lovely.. very clean, quiet and peaceful, when downstairs in Kings Cross is so busy! The food was all well prepared, we had a glass of complimentary Nyetimber on arrival which was perfect, and the staff were super attentive but also knew when to leave us to just chat (I think there was a staff member called Chris who was superb) We’d highly recommend Rails and will definitely go back.

Very nice food - service was very slow though, we had to ask the staff for everything. The benedicts were tasty, but a little on the cold side (as if they had been sitting on the pass for a while). the toast was not toast - just warmed bread. At least they has the good grace to take it off of the bill.

Food took almost an hour to arrive, was cold when it arrived. Hadn’t cooked the meat the way it had been ordered. Staff left us alone while we waited so we had to flag them down to remind them we were here. This despite the fact we were one of only three occupied tables in a large dining room. If they can’t deliver when the restaurant is quiet I can only imagine what they’d be like if it was busy/normal.

We went on Sunday for brunch and the place was pretty quiet, in fact it was empty when we arrived at 1.30. I ordered the burger and every one else ordered the eggs, Although one of us ordered the high tea which she shared with her young son. The food was unremarkable and functional but the portions where a little (and I'm being polite) on the small side. The service was very good, although since we were the only people seated I'm not sure how it would be at a busier time. Considering the small portions and lack of 'atmosphere' , I think it was extremely overpriced. I would not return and would suggest others looking for brunch in this area despite the convenience of Kings Cross station to should seek their meals elsewhere.

Pity the staff only just about spoke English, were difficult to understand at times. Good food but very expensive especially that all vegetables and side salads were extra. A tiny portion of fries was £5 !! Ridiculous price for a glass of wine which seems par for the course these days.
