Californian
Situated in San Francisco's historic Jackson Square, Lindsay and Chef Michael Tusk's Quince features a nightly tasting menu that highlights the seasonal bounty of Northern California. Chef Tusk was named “Best Chef: Pacific” by the James Beard Foundation in 2011. In 2012 the San Francisco Chronicle bestowed a fourth star to Quince. In 2016 Quince was awarded its third Michelin star, which it holds to this day. The cost of the tasting menu is $298. Quince requests all cancellations be made at least 48 hours prior to avoid a $298 per person (plus tax) late cancellation fee; this policy also applies to same day reservations. If we are unable to confirm with you, your reservation will be cancelled one day prior to the reservation at 5:00 pm. Due to the complexity of the menu, it may not be possible to accommodate all dietary restrictions. Please note, our menu relies quite heavily on shellfish and dairy-based ingredients.

Disappointing. After second course, there was a forty Minute wait for next course. After that the timing of service was spotty. Wine selections were spotty and main courses did not wow.

The food and service are simply exquisite. They were incredibly accommodating. The courses are well paced but you should definitely plan on coming with an empty stomach. Most elegant restaurant in the bay area.

Looking for a tasty place to leave 1k? They will gladly take it off your hands after three hours of romancing you with a lovely repast. If quince were an image it would be a dominatrix sporting a chef’s toque. She’ll take you for every penny in your wallet—and you’ll like it.

I took my 11 year old daughter as our Christmas present, and it was an amazing experience. We asked not to look at the course menu or even be told what we were being served. It was an amazing experience! They even served one of our courses in the kitchen and we had the great pleasure of meeting Chef Michael Tusk! This was our first 3 star michelin experience and hopefully many more. The my hat off to the chef and the staff, what service !!!

Trying too hard to hang onto three Michelin stars. They forgot who the customer really is. The young staff are running things there and it shows.

While our journey at Quince started a little bit in an awkward fashion for a 3 star Michelin establishment (we were asked to stand at the bar while the table was getting ready), the overall experience made up for it. Between an extremely attentive and friendly staff, to amazing food, we spent an extraordinary moment. The food ranged from delicate seafood (delicious hors d'oeuvres with sea urchin, poached prawn and caviar...) to great meat (took the dry aged duck and did not regret a second). I got tempted by the cheese platter, however it probably ended up being too much food... luckily we were offered to take the last sweets with us. I opted up for the wine pairing, which made me discover great new wines while covering the standards pretty well. The sommelier was very attentive and provided great explanations and guidance. Overall, a great San Francisco table.

After a magical wedding ceremony, my husband and I decided to celebrate our new nupituals at Quince. I notified the restaurant a week before our reservation that my husband does not eat seafood. This message was not conveyed to our server, Gregory, as our customized menus had seafood listed for the majority of the courses.

We were served a glass of champagne each while awaiting our first course. We assumed this was on-the-house, in celebration of our wedding; however, upon receiving the bill, we saw we were charged $96 for the champagne.

Although the service was not great, what happened in the following days was disrespectful. At the end of our meals, our server, Gregory, told us that our bill was settled. We assumed that the remainder of the balance was charged to the credit card we used for the deposit when booking the reservation.

The following morning, my sister asked me how we enjoyed the wedding gift. When I was unsure of what she was referring to, she told me that she & my parents paid for our wedding dinner at Quince. My sister had completed the online form provided by the restaurant, which included a personal message from the family, and submitted all the info they requested to surprise us with this amazing wedding gift. Quince COMPLETELY DROPPED THE BALL and NEVER told us our meal was a wedding gift from my family and never delivered the message.

We reached out to Quince about this the following day. After three days of back & forth messages, emails and phone calls, we spoke with a manager named Dan. He told me that his server, Gregory, claims to have told us at the end of our meal that it was paid for by my family. THIS IS A LIE. Dan told me that he believed his server and that (by default) we must be lying. After an “investigation” on his part, his resolution for ruining the wedding gift from my family was to take off the involuntary 18% gratuity (the final bill for 2 people was almost $1,700.) COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. ZERO STARS!

The best restaurant experience we have ever had...ever! Truly a Michelin 3 star experience. Every dish was a piece of art and the flavors were mouthwatering. Even the plates and flatware were unbelievable, from all over the world. We highly recommend, just know that it’s an experience that comes at a cost, however well worth it.

Quince was absolutely outstanding. The service team is impeccable, the food is amazing, and the ambiance was great. I have dined at 3 Michelin Star restaurants before so there were a few things I knew to expect, but Quince goes above and beyond. My boyfriend and I had a fantastic time celebrating his 31st birthday here and we were lucky enough to meet Mr. and Mrs. Tusk as well as a look into their wine and kitchen. We had such a great experience and will definitely plan a trip back to San Francisco to dine here again. We are so glad we were able to make it and receive such an amazing experience.

We own three restaurants ourselves and have grown up in the business.
We have dined at several Michelin starred restaurants and can emphatically say quince is the best dining experience we have ever had.
Chef Tusk continues to be a inspiration, the restaurant is at the pinnacle of dining.
Congratulations to the whole team you deserve it

When you are spending 6 times what other very good restaurants would cost, and more than a new refrigerator, I think you ought to expect everything to be perfect. So, when I told the waiter that my wagyu beef was too salty and it would have been preferable to apply very little salt and allow customers to adjust for their taste, his response that he would relay this comment to the chef was inadequate. There have been a few other occasions where I have had this issue at other restaurants and it is fairly common practice to comp the customer, in this case it would have been for the supplement charge. This did not happen.

But, even before we came for my wife's birthday, there was another issue. The restaurant demanded confirmation in an email of the afternoon prior to our reservation which I did not see until the following morning. Other fine restaurants we have gone to would call us to confirm not placing the burden on the customer and at the last minute.

Compounding the above, I sent an email to Quince 4 days before writing this review but received no reply whatsoever. They can't care about me, as a customer, if they don't even respond to an email.

This evening was a surprise gift for my husband for our 24th Anniversary and it did not disappoint. Our server was very welcoming, attentive and discreet, as expected of a Michelin 3-star restaurant, and the personal menu was a thoughtful touch. The food was exquisite and paired beautifully with the wines, and combined with the elegant ambience created a very memorable evening.

My wife and I have been to a lot of great restaurants over the years but Quince is right at the top. Just sensational. First of all it is a very elegant and quiet atmosphere. The fixed multi-course meal is wonderful. We also enjoyed their wine pairing which was also exceptionally nice. They also have special dishes to add to the fixed menu. On our night we loved the home made pasta with truffles. Chef Michael Tusk 's rare talent is on display. It was my wife's birthday and their extra kindness to us will never be forgotten. Quince is expensive so save up for an unforgettable experience. With many of the great restaurants closing in San Francisco, I am pleased to see Quince alive and prospering.

The staff was amazing and attention was taken on every detail. The food, however, was pretty disappointing. It was photograph worthy at least, but I’ve tasted far better for far less money. When all was said and done and we turned down the $85 and $100 menu upgrades, we still spent $1k for two people with tax and tip. Seriously it was worth $400 maybe. Out of 10 courses, two were flat out not good. I think those were the dishes that cost more to upgrade. I’m guessing with the added truffle or caviar upgrades, they may have been good. Kind of insulting to have to spend more for a decent meal when the price is already $295 per person. The main course was roasted duck that was just OK. Unfortunately we had duck the night before at Girl and the Fig the night prior in Sonoma and it was awesome.
