   Food was decent but a little overpriced for the amount. Our server Ivy was great! The hostesses were nice but very disorganized and seemed confused and unsure what to do at times.

   Loved this restaurant in downtown Durango so much, we ended up going twice - once for dinner with reservations and once as a walk-in at the bar for a late afternoon snack. All the food was delicious - steak, seafood, salad, starters and especially the tiramisu! The wine-by-the-glass and whiskey selection was good and the service was friendly and professional. Overall, a great experience!

   Purgatory has a very special sentimental place in our hearts. We return this time each year to celebrate (now almost 40 years) being together! Thank you for keeping the setting the perfect place…atmosphere, food & service.

   So cold you had to wear a coat & hat through dinner. Poor service. We had to ask 3 times for water before she remembered & there were only 10 tables of people there. Not worth the money. Food was cold. Awful!

   . Stay away of Purgy’s - they are run by freshmen ! There is no other explanation Purgy’s canceled two reservations for Dec 31st and Jan 1st. made on Dec 28th! Other restaurants in town handled the New Year’s beautifully - I dined at several of them over the mini vacay (I would post names but I know they would not allow my comment if I did) They could not even handle the 6:00 pm fireworks properly - they delayed it three times just to sell more booze at the bar! I left at 7:30 and the fireworks were still not on. Whatever manager called to apologize but apologies are futile! Can’t use them at the restaurant

    First time at Purgy's was an absolute delightful experience. The food and staff were on point. I would recommend dinner here is you're ever in Durango or passing through.

    The app shouldn’t allow people to make reservations for lunch....there are not lunch reservations or a hostess. It is complete wild random free-for-all dining with all the other skiers on the mountain. Get in before 12pm or you won’t have a chance. Reservations are only for dinner, don’t let the app trick you like it did me.

    Great location but having doors would be a great addition to keep the bar noise out. And some light background music. Presentation of food was good but selection could have been better. On a cold day choice of soups would have been nice. Even something simple like chicken and biscuits would have been great. Disappointed that we were there at 530 and steaks were sold out from the previous day...

    This was our 2nd (dining) trip to Purgys , we have had lunch here on various occasions as well . We started off with wings delicately breaded with corn meal , cooked perfectly , sitting over a bed of tasty risotto. For its slopeside convenience & consistently good food we would recommend Purgys .

    This is a good option if staying at the purgatory resort. We ate there three of the four nights we were there. Good food for the price.

    We had dinner reservations at 7:00 in the evening. There are about 12 items on the menu because it is tailored to be fine dining. This was the second night we ate there and it was the second night they were out of 4-5 items and all but two deserts. They were not prepared for the crowds, not busing tables, and out of food. Amazing for a high end resort. I felt sorry for the waiter who was very nice.

    Highly disappointed with Purgy's! Made New Year's Eve reservations months in advance. Even went in day before & picked out which table we wanted (staff wrote it down). Walked in on New Year's Eve little after 8 and low and behold, was told THEY WERE NOT HONORING RESERVATIONS AT ALL since they were too busy. Ridiculous excuse and exact reason we had made reservations!!! THANKS FOR SPOILING OUR NEW YEAR'S EVE PLANS AT PURGATORY! Would NEVER recommend this place to anyone!!!

    This was our Christmas dinner second year in a row. Delicious food, lobster mac and cheese and salmon were both excellent, and bread pudding to die for. Very friendly prompt service, we really had a lovely time. Great after-skiing option.

    We have had lunch & appetizers post skiing at this slopeside restaurant before & it’s always been pretty good but we were pleasantly surprised with our first dinner at Purgys . We started off with a chicken corn chowder , it was hearty & had good flavors . For our mains we had a cornmeal dusted trout & the salmon dish . The trout was the star of the night . I’m not a big fan of trout but I ended up eating 1/4 of my wife’s trout dish , it was lightly dusted with just the right amount of cornmeal & was cooked (skin on) perfectly . The salmon was good , it was wild caught & well cooked. Conveniently located on the mountain & good food . Will definitely eat here again .

    Was running late for a 5:15 reservation made on Open Table. Called to notify the restaurant and spoke to a very nice woman who informed me they were not open and had not been open since the June 1st forest fire. She further stated they probably would not open this summer at all. Be sure to call them first for status.

    They’re allowing reservations to be made, even though they’re CLOSED!! Quite frustrating for your family of NINE to walk up to a restaurant in which they’ve made a reservation, only to see a sign on the door that they aren’t open. If I don’t show up to a reservation, Open Table dings me. Well what do they do to a restaurant that shows “hurry, only six spots left.” When the doors are locked up? Insanely ridiculous.

    Food was okay, but service left much to be desired. Very slow, brought appetizers at the same time as main meal, burger was over cooked, bun stale. Wrong wine. Charge for a sad, stale tiny plate of bread. They realized the issues and took s few dollars off the bill but I don’t think we’d rush back anytime soon.

    Loved our night out at Purgy’s! Jeff, from Bristol, TN was our waiter and was extremely attentive, courteous, and helpful. Great place for a relaxing dinner with friends!

    We ate at Purgy’s twice and weren’t disappointed! We had a family dinner the first night and then had Christmas dinner there as well. It was great food and great service.

    Terrible service. waited 15-20 minutes at table for any service and only got water by asking the water person. Very inhospitable given high altitude ski resort where hydration is key to avoiding altitude sickness, especially after day of skiing. Waited another 5 min then had to ask hostess if we could get a server. Server lacked hospitality or friendliness and merely processed our order, which took long (30+min wait) for simple soup/salad and 2 kid meals. Large bottle of water spilled when food was delivered and food runner walked away without helping to wipe it up. Only decent staff was hostess. Food was mediocre at best. Overpriced for lousy service and so-so food. And dining room only half seated with several tables already eating their food.

    we had great service for a table of 7. We were a post-wedding party. there was a salmon salad, 2 salmon entress, and 3 chicken entrees. not one complaint from our group but lots os compliments. the bride and groom were treated to a complimentary brownie and ice cream skillet! Yummy!

    This was to be our 40th anniversary celebration! Someone messed up big time!! We drove 29 miles in the rain and arrived to a closed restaurant!! We had reservations for two weeks prior!! The main reason we chose this place was for the Elk. What a bummer!!

    Our family had a dinner night out at Purgy's as part of a ski trip to Purgatory ski resort. It was our first time there to dine. Starting with the BAD food: the fish tacos had almost zero fish and were LOADED with dry red cabbage and sour pickled onions on cold dried out flour tortillas. A chicken Caesar salad was very unoriginal with too much dressing tasting straight out of a bottle. One person in our group ordered the dinner special, which was a short rib on gnocci with arugula. That was pricey but looked more like decent restaurant fare. The Thai chicken wings were good. The children in the group ordered the fish and chips, and a kids cheeseburger. All OK. The place had canned music playing, and a rustic atmosphere. It could have been so much nicer if all of the food tasted better. Service was OK but our drinks were only refilled when we tracked down the server.

    Was not notified that no dinner menu was being provided. I had planned a nice Anniversary Dinner and ended up with Nachos. The lodge should have been provided this information, as well as its patrons! Very disappointing!

    Food was nasty even by bar food standards. Service was marginal at best. It is one of the only shows in town for dining later at night and is in a beautiful location, but not a good value at all for what you pay. We got there an hour before closing and they couldn't wait to get us out.
