Had a great experience and food was super good. Will be back. Steve M
Absolutely wonderful. Tacos, guac, the agua de mango/limon—and a great “dessert” frozen horchata. My husband and I stumbled upon Puesto down by Seaport Village and were blown away; we were ecstatic to find out the OG Puesto in La Jolla—and somehow, it’s even better! We had a great server who was personable and friendly; he gave us a little history and just did his job so well. My husband and I have found ourselves a “regular” place when we visit La Jolla or Seaport Village!
Great tacos and margaritas! Also love the verde guacamole!
Food was fine, service was great which has been difficult to get at alot of places because everywhere is still pretty under staffed. We sat out side on the deck they put in the parking lot and it was as nice as that could be.
I'd come back.
Everything was delicious! The staff was incredibly friendly.
These 'fancy' tacos are just that: fancy but not really great tasting. Had to ask 3 times for a refill of diet coke. Guess these 'hip' places are all the rage, but give me some good basic traditional Mexican food any time over this
We were told by friends in New York that we MUST go to Puesto when in La Jolla! They did not disappoint! What a perfect dinner! And the margaritas were the best ever!
I felt that we were rushed because we had a reservation at 8:45 and you close at 9:00. I wish you would say that somewhere. I know the hours are posted publicly but I would think you would close a little later.
Drinks wasn’t that good and food wasn’t really warm. I had two filet miegon tacos and one carne asada.
Loved seating outside as you can people watch! Highly recommend the esquites, and the skirt steak tacos were the tacos I enjoyed the most. It’s hard to come across authentic tacos these days though. The service was great!
Amazing food and customer service. Shaded outdoor seating.
Great food and drinks! All 4 of us enjoyed our dinner and drinks! Great guac too!
Food not good
The music was too loud!!! I asked several times to have it turned down , with no success. I was seated in the outside “parklet”, which occupies space that would normally be multiple parking spaces on the public street. I find it offensive to have the music that loud in the outside space, affecting those who are simply walking on the side walk. Keep the loud music within the building walls and not on the public street.
I absolutely love puesto, but sadly this visit didn’t hold up their usual customer service. I called the day before our reservation to confirm that it was a table for 7 to make sure they could accommodate because we were taking family from out of town. We booked a table for 6 originally Bc opentable wasn’t allowing 7. They reassured me everything was noted and ready for the next day. We arrived right on time and were promptly seated. Unfortunately they decided that their tables for 6 people would be enough to squish 7 adults together rather than sit us comfortably at a larger table. The worst part was that the 7th seat was at the end of the table. Their tables don’t have anywhere to put your legs if you sit on the ends Bc of the table leg covering the entire side. So when you sit, you are 1 foot away from the table - impossible to eat like that, come on. After making the hostess aware, she was understanding, meanwhile the other hostesses looked at me like I was crazy and made excuses about not being able to seat us anywhere else. I would just have to deal with it. One hostess that originally sat us said she would figure it out and let me know, she was very sweet and helpful. After waiting at the small table for about 20-25 mins they moved us inside and then we sat at the table for another 15 mins without anyone approaching us to order. Lots of time wasted on both ends and was a bad taste in our mouth especially with visiting family.
Our final waiter was very kind and helpful, food was great but it was worse than sitting in a McDonald’s dining room by the end, tbh. It was just not nice at all.
If you cannot accommodate a larger group of people comfortably for dinner, do not take the reservation - simple. Don’t try to squeeze adults into a smaller table to make the money and not care about if we’re uncomfortable. That makes the experience horrible and the food unenjoyable.
Amazing quality food, great servers and they play good music. I’ll be back for sure! Thanks Puesto for the hospitality
Love Puesto. Our server was very nice with a great personality. We had to ask for more salsa and chips twice and avocado, which I did not ask for, was put on my tacos. The kids enjoyed the mochata’s immensely.
Great tacos, the only thing we were not so happy , the lobster tacos had very little lobster meat !
Upscale tacos, delicious tequila! What more can you ask for?
The best tacos ever!!!!
The food was good, but the service was terrible! Couldn't get a refill or a waiter if you tried. Must be terribly short staffed but people were running around all over the place. When one would pass by, the would just ignore me.
Amazing food and service as always!
Great food and drinks, love the outdoor seating option.
Server was great!
Excellent Mexican food
My grandma and I got tacos for a fun Thursday night out. It was great. I got the Paloma and it was wonderfully refreshing. The tacos were fabulous. They are wrapped in cheese and a little different than other tacos I’ve had. They are a little heavy and loaded with cheese but still good.
Love this place and the food! Always a good meal with superb service. Taco Tuesday is the best!
Amazing food and service. The waiter remembered who ordered what and was super sensitive to food allergies across all of our dishes.
Great food and drinks, nice outdoor seating. Guacamole is the best!
Service was wonderful, Terrance the bartender was so kind and made wonderful margaritas for my family and I! Food was great as always. Definitely recommend the tacos and taquitos!
Overall great experience
We love Puesto! Especially enjoy dinning on the new covered patio area, where dogs are welcome. Puesto is casual, but the food and service is elevated. My favorites are the Filet Mignon Taco and the Lobster Taco. Several good vegetarian dishes available, also. Fresh made Margaritas, chips and Guacamole. If you want a bargain, try Taco Tuesday 3 PM or Happy Hour 3-5 PM, M-W-F.
A random surcharge on the bill was quite disappointing!’nn
Puesto is a nice high end Mexican restaurant. I've been to the one in Mission valley and that one is better and they have more options. Their potato taquitos are great!! Tacos are decent too.
I just find it very expensive so wouldn't recommend if someone is looking for a budget meal.
Great food and great service!
It was Father's Day. I was surprised that the whole menu was not presented. Only starters, tacos, and bowls. Burritos and other things were missing from the menu. Tacos and service was very good. A small Cadillac Margarita was $18. The tacos were pricey $9 to $12 each (they suggest you need 3). We ordered a shrimp ceviche which was small but tastey and again pricey $16. It said it had mango and papaya in it...apparently it was pureed into a sauce because I found no mango or papaya pieces. So overall, good tasting food but small portions and overpriced. As I mentioned, the drinks are overpriced. I was sitting on a asphalt street with no view but of the street. I understand it is La Jolla. Will I be back? Maybe but during Happy Hour or Taco Tuesdays when it is supposedly a little cheaper.
Amazing happy hour/ great server
Wish they still had the plant- based chorizo but loved the veggie tacos I had :)
Hope to go again when I’m in La Jolla
I love Puesto, they have great tacos. I recommend it.
Food was great, drinks were great, and service was great.
Objectively, It’s a little bit overpriced for what it is, but 100% worth trying.
