We found this place on Yelp and quickly made a reservation—we were greeted in a very friendly manner and seated quickly. The food was amazing...and a lot for the money. Very fresh tasting blue corn tacos with a great array of unusual fillings. Delicious margaritas. Way too full for dessert.😉. However the drawback is that it is VERY loud! Otherwise we loved our experience.
Amazing!!! So fun. Went with my family for lunch. The service was great, the margaritas were on point and the food was fabulous!
The salsa and chips were delicious. My frozen horchata was great. However, the ceasar salad was so spicy I couldn’t eat it, my entree was cold and my husband’s entree lacked flavor. It seems overpriced for what we got and the quality was not that good. On the plus side our server was delightful!
I recommend it whenever someone's in or near La Jolla. If a friend says "I love guac," I take them to Puesto for their pomegranate seed rendition. The staff is fast and friendly. And the tacos... get 3+, including one you've never tried. The mushroom one really wowed me.
Great evening and great service. Our table availability was only about 10min late but we received many apologies. Really fresh and varied flavours in the tacos and best margharitas weve had in san Diego
We had the most fantastico experience at Puesto! Service was great. Food was even better! They helped us celebrate our friends engagement - truly special!! Their attention to detail was on point.
Cold. Shut the door! Weird food. Not classic Mexican .
Great service and very tasty spin on the taco
Ask for the table next to the kitchen. Fascinating to watch the food being prepared. Guacamole is the best, and try the spicy jalapeño margarita.
Lunch was delightful. Don’t miss the butterscotch budino.
We’ve been to this location before and came back for the food and service. I figured that this time, given it was the weekend, I’d make sure to have reservations. Even with reservations, it was a 15 min wait to be seated. Better than the 45-60 minutes they were quoting to walk up customers, but unexpected.
Unfortunately, this experience was night and day different from our previous one. I’ll definitely avoid this location during the busy times. Food and service was less than satisfactory.
Server ignored us, empty drinks and $10 guacamole without chips. She seemed more interested in another table.
Ordered the tacos. Filet mignon tacos were very chewy, not a good cut. Chicken tacos were good, but not $5 a piece good. Server wasn’t available, so unable to comment.
May not have been a good night for Puesto. Saw the manager get chewed out by another table nearby. We may opt for Barrio Logan next time. Better food and value.
Amazing food and ambiance
Was an incredible dining experience - ambiance was great, food was excellent, drinks are superb! Would definitely go back if I ever am in San Diego. Get the Gobernador and Carne Asada tacos!!
Everything was great, however, it took a really long time to get our food. We had to take it to go, so that we wouldn’t miss a comedy show :(
Fun and incredibly delicious food. So unique and dog friendly! If you are in La Jolla, be sure to eat here!
I love this place!! The hand made tortillas is 🗝. And of course, the mezcal flights!!! Wow
Vibrante; camareros conocedores; representación casi perfecta de la comida mexicana. ¡Solo hazlo!
Food was really good and service was very friendly. No frozen margaritta though. Would highly reccomend.
I really like the Filet Mignon tacos..but it is way overpriced. I have not had a taco like this restaurants but it is just not the kind of place that I will go to just for lunch because..rather an occasion. My family chose different food items from the menu and they where also sattisfied witht their food...so food is definately 100 percent..my only and biggest complaint is price.
The filet mignonette tacos were fantastic. Started out with the guacamole and it was also very good. They make their tortillas as you watch and then wrap your meat in the cheese sleeves. Service was great and food was a ten.
Good food and good value.
Great! Best tacos ever! Love the filet mignon tacos - they are to die for! The corn dish is also excellent. Margaritas are delish. We love both locations - the one in La Jolla and the one in San Diego. Favorite place for great Mexican food! The wait staff is always very friendly and attentive too!!
The service was great everywhere from the host to the bartender to our servers but the food was disappointing compared to the downtown location. This was my first time dining in La Jolla and I expected the same food quality as the downtown location however this definitely wasn’t the case.
Puesto is super colorful and fun, and the tacos are delicious!! They also have some of my favorite guacamole in San Diego.
Food has always been good to great; margaritas are phenomenal but the service was beyond dreadful. Table was not available when we arrived, bartender not responsive, server... well, I hope it was his first day, but I gather it was not. Disappointing, to say the least.
Excellent food/service but consistently overpriced, thus a poor overall value. A now and then place, but no more.
Everything was great, just a touch loud (mostly due to a large table next to us), but not enough to mar the experience. Food was delicious and creative.
I ordered Maine Lobster and Spicy Atún taco, lobster pieces were dry and hard as the rock, ahi was also over cooked. I was very disappointed. I used to like this restaurant but I don’t think I go back.
Food is always great but it drives me in saying that they never bring the guacamole out as an appetizer. What is the point of ordering appetizers when you bring them out with the entrée. Services never been great here either typically always need a water refill.
This is our second time dining at puesto. Our first dining experience was lovely. The second experience left us disappointed. The service was subpar, the flavours were more bland.
First time here! Very impressed by the taco menu, and I especially loved the chicken verde taco. The sauce was delicious.
Food was amazing as always. Our guests from out of town loved it
Delicious and pricey tacos! Zero wait so my reservation was on time, but the place also had several open tables. We ordered drinks, and it took 23 minutes for it to arrive. I asked our server where my drinks were. He blamed only having one bartender for the half full restaurant...I don’t see this as an issue. I think he forgot to ring the drinks in. It is as rather disappointing to have to wait that long for drinks. However, the food was great. Love the chips and salsa and the Canitas is phenomenal. I didn’t like that I had to ask for a water refill.
Excellent authentic Mexican cuisine at a reasonable price, with very good service. We were impressed that the tables were not jammed together in an attempt to cram as many customers as possible into the restaurant. In addition, the table was ready at the reserved time (which is more than we could say of Eddie V's). A reasonable amount of space between tables and on-time seating is indicative of putting the customer experience above squeezing every last penny out of the place.
One of the best Margaritas and fantastic tacos
Excellent food! Unique delicious taco combinations. Favorite was the chicken Verde. Cost can add up, a lot of upcharges. Would prefer larger size margarita for price.
Delicious tacos, excellent service, fun atmosphere!
I will submit my comments directly to management in order to give them an opportunity to respond to our concerns.
We had to wait twenty minutes for our table without receiving an explanation or apology. The wait staff was slow and indifferent. It took a long time for someone to take our order and even longer to receive our food. It was very cold and drafty in the restaurant. The noise level was deafening. The food was below average. We are not planning on returning or recommending this restaurant.
Great tasting tacos with small outdoor seating that allows dogs. :)
