Always a fun choice and good food. We have had many great meals at Puesto in La Jolla.
Food was awesome. A little pricey but well worth it.
So I wish I could leave a good review but unfortunately our experience wasn’t a great one. We came for my wifes birthday and had reservations booked a week or so in advanced. Food and service was good once our server came. Here’s the not so good parts: table was under a leaking vent (water constantly dripping on us, the table, and we had to rearrange everything to make it function). They were aware and apologized, offered to move us (we accepted), but then they never did. Additionally it took about 10-15 minutes before someone greeted us after we were seated. Last which wasn’t really their fault I guess, but it was so loud to the degree that the servers were apologizing for it. Wasn’t the night I expected considering they even called ahead and knew it was for my wife’s birthday and that we had kids. Oh well, not the end of the world tho.
Fantastic place. I eat tacos multiple times a week and the filet mignon tacos I had here were the best tacos I have ever eaten. The ceviche was delicious and the service was impeccable.
Our server was a very nice young guy, fast, attentive but not too attentive, and gave excellent drink recommendations! The wait was average, not too long even though the place was packed, and not too short to make me wonder how they cooked the food that quickly. Most tacos were under seasoned, certainly under salted.
Fish tacos: fried well, needed more salt, and the taco as a whole was dry. Needs a sauce.
Al Pastor, Filet, and shrimp tacos were pretty good. All needed salt, and shrimp were quite large! Great tamarind sauce on the shrimp. As a whole, all tacos could’ve used some spice, but I understand not everyone would want that.
Chicharrones had awesome seasoning, nice and crunchy! That was probably our favorite. Didn’t order the guacamole but the table next to us did and the portion size was much bigger than we would’ve expected!
Margaritas were great, tequila selection was spot on for a Mexican restaurant, but all in all everything was priced a little higher than it’s worth.
I would recommend trying Puesto! Plenty of food options, great location for walking around La Jolla, but make a reservation to avoid a wait. We likely won’t go again, but were happy to give it a try!
Uncomfortable seating, food and drinks were good but unremarkable. Our waiter was quite busy but very attentive and gracious.
Always yummy and great drinks.
Amazing shrimp and filet Minon tacos.!!!!
Best tacos in town and the Guacamole was amazing! The only thing they did not have that I wanted was a lemonade :)
Food is outstanding and creative. Margaritas are inspirational. A great place to take out of town guests who have a preconceived idea of "Mexican" food. A bit pricey.....but worth every bite.
We will return!
Great restaurant. A bit expensive, but the food was really good
Our first waiter was a problem. We spoke with the manager Tori who handled things perfectly. Ended up being a good dinner
It was our first time eating here and the service was amazing! The waiter was great with suggestions and very attentive. The food was fantastic! Great tacos! I would definitely eat here again and recommend their Taco Tuesday for great pricing!
Always delicious and imaginative food. Our server was terrific...fast, friendly and helpful.
Every year we come to town, it’s our first place to eat!! My kids always ask if I’ve made reservations for Puesto!! EVERYTHING we’ve eaten has been fabulous! Such great flavor to everything as well as the drinks!!
The guacamole and baja fish tacos were excellent. Friendly atmosphere. Service was a bit slow.
We are regulars at Puesto, and this time brought friends along. They loved it! Thanks for a great evening.
I made a reservation for our last night in San Diego and for the express purpose of having fish tacos. I had read good reviews and postings by others recommending it. However, I was underwhelmed. The fish tacos were fine, just nothing special. My husband got a plate of three different tacos, which he liked but did not rave about. I did enjoy a strawberry margarita and the chips. Our table was right next to the cook stations and was rather noisy between their conversations, orders being shouted, and the noise in the dining area. It felt like a place I might stop for a quick, casual meal or lunch, but it was not a last night of vacation destination.
Great food and atmosphere with indoor/outdoor dining
I wish I could give service even higher marks! The filet taco was fantastic.
Mothers day dinner and food perfect. Ben our server was absolutely on point!
Fun atmosphere, good food great place for happy hour.
Best guacamole I ever had!! And the lobster tacos are not to be missed.
Make a reservation! Always! It gets super crowded, but service is quick and food is so tasty. Happy hour prices are awesome.
Love their taco Tuesday special! $3 tacos all night!
Their mushroom taco is incredible- so much flavor!
We ate here for Cinco de Mayo. While they had a modified menu for the holiday, it was excellent! I recommend Esquites, filet mignon tacos, fish tacos and sangria!
Energetic restaurant with a small but satisfying street taco menu. Second time I’ve been. Food is always awesome. This time service better than the last. Can be a little busy for the waitresses in s rush
Great service. Mood of staff was very good. Food was great manager walked around to chat with us
A must visit if you are vacationing in Lajolla. Food was amazing. Margaritas were very good. It’s a bit pricie for tacos, and drinks were steep, but still worth it for the experience.
The tacos were absolutely incredible, especially the taco of the month which was a bell pepper stuffed in crispy cheese. The drinks were also great, not super strong but not sweet, and the selection is fabulous. The lobster taco was not the best today, and it was a little pricy but it was so worth it!
Taco Tuesday! $2.50 for a taco, with additional charges for their premium items. One of my favorite taco Tuesday places to go to in La Jolla. Don’t get me wrong I love other places too, but for more gourmet tacos, Puesto is the where it’s at!
Puerto makes the most delicious tacos I have ever tasted. Great value, too
Great filet minion tacos, guacamole is incredible, and fun atmosphere. Service was pretty good, and location is great.
Great place for a birthday dinner!
Always a great spot.
I went with my boyfriend right when they opened on Sunday so it was nice and quiet. Waiter was helpful with recommendations and easy to talk to. Tacos were fresh and flavourful~ definitely enjoyed our time there!
What a gem! The food is fresh, innovative and full of flavor. The menu is set up to be modular, so one can mix and match. When the server heard we had a vegan in our party, he brought out a vegan menu. The restaurant has a large window to the kitchen and it was great to watch our food being prepared. Loved the zucchini tacos and the lime and nopales sorbet (one of the best flavor combination to enter my mouth, ever!)
Thanks to the team for a great experience.
