Welcome to Pueo’s Osteria, an Italian-inspired, inviting restaurant that provides great food, prepared from scratch daily, complimented with a stocked wine list and set in a delightful osteria environment. Co-Proprietor & Chef James Babian focuses on original creative dishes, pairing the finest, authentic Italian products with select seafood, produce and meats from boutique farms (sourced locally whenever possible), including “farm-fresh” products from local farmers’ markets.
Pueo's is located at the new Waikoloa Plaza in Waikoloa Village with ample free parking and designated pick-up stalls right outside the restaurant.
The "Pueo" is a nocturnal owl indigenous to Hawaii, which symbolizes Chef's focus on serving dinner and into the evening hours. Pueo's Osteria caters to locals and visitors via sit-down, bar and take-out. For some reason this time, it was so loud / we were seated on the right side wall on the lanai and for some reason the conversation in the room was amplified to the extent that we couldn’t hear each other talk so we ate fast and left…not good

We had a wonderful evening and Courtney was awesome! We moved to a booth which made our experience much better than the table we were first seated at. The food was amazing. Service was great and we didn't have to wait long for our food.

My wife and I dine at Pueo's weekly. Pueo's consistently offers the island's best Italian food. The dishes are always creative, tasty and beautifully presented. The service is always outstanding. Last night we both ordered the prime rib special. We understand that it was the owner's beautiful daughter's idea to offer this first-time special. Based on the restaurants occupancy last night, this special was a hit! Since there no longer is a steak house on the Big Island, hopefully the prime rib special will become a regular item.

A busy Sunday night. Staffing was limited. Long periods waiting for service. Will try again when we return during the summer months.

Pueo's Osteria is the best Italian restaurant on the island, imho. Being transplants from New Jersey, we love their authentic Italian food, especially the veal parmigiana. The ambiance and service are always excellent. You won't be disappointed!

Pueo’s is an absolute gem! The food is incredible—authentic Italian with bold, fresh flavors that truly impressed us. The service was warm and attentive, we ordered veal parm & veal milanese and both were divine, perfectly paired with a thoughtful selection of wine. The portions were insane! And Darcy went over and above providing service and surprised us with 2 cannoli's for a birthday! This is a must-visit local spot on the Kohala Coast. Make a reservation and go—you won’t be disappointed!
