We have been many times and this was not its usual delicious food. Chicken was unremarkable, and it has always been outstanding. No potatoe cake 😕 please return it to the menu. Bread was underwhelming. Hope it was just an off night
I've been going to Press since it opened, and this is the first time I've been disappointed. The food was not up to what it has been in the past, the menu much more limited, and the wine service was very lacking. I hope it was a temporary blip.
Friendly and very helpful service. We enjoyed the delicious food and wonderful atmosphere. Our new favorite restaurant!
The experience was great, From Maitre D Charles greeting us at the door, to the service, to the food and the wine list!! Highly recommend it!!
Wonderful experience. One of the best meals we have ever had! From our bacon sampler and shrimp cocktail app, our shared sides (creamed spinach, lobster mac and cheese, carrots, brussel sprouts-yum, and onion rings) to our steaks and lamb chops, and 4 bottles of wines- our group of 6 was highly impressed!
My husband and I had an amazing anniversary celebration at Press. The evening was one to remember, best ribeye and Mac n cheese we ever had. Great wine, and great service! Kelsey was the best server ever we really enjoyed talking to her. Can’t wait to come back. Thank you!
Always great service, food and ambiance. Highly recommended for special events, anniversaries etc.
Kitchen botched the order and took forever when the restaurant was basically half full. The GM was apologetic and so was our waitress. Food was fantastic as usual and for the trouble the restaurant purchased our desert. 2.5 hrs later we were ready to go.
This place is fabulous! The general manager moves mountains... her level of accommodation is not only recognized, but appreciated as well. Try the bacon appetizer if you can. It’s on the bar menu!
The Napa area is known for fine wines, and the wine list at Press is impressive. Service was very good, the menu was good, the atmosphere was nice and deserves a special occasion. Pricey menu. We are from Nebraska and although the steak was good, not the best we ever had. I would recommend the Press experience.
Went here for dinner after friends raved about their experience here. Food was good but service could have been improved, especially for what you are paying for to be there. Insiders tip: get the bacon rack appetizer.
This restaurant was extremely loud; the tables were stuffed in too closely; the kitchen was slow; and it was extremely overpriced... will NOT return!
Sat in a corner booth for my birthday and everything was amazing! Would revisit again
This restaurant was recommended to us with the intent to try their bacon tasting. We had reservations but decided to go in a couple of hours early and the staff gladly accommodated us. We had drinks, bacon tasting and dinner. The staff were all lovely and ensured that we were enjoying our dining experience. We left satisfied and happy!
Very disappointing in many ways and I’m probably being generous by giving it two stars. One in our party ordered the pork chop medium. It came out dry as could be so after complaining, we received a new one. This one was so undercooked as to be dangerous, so it was also sent back. I can’t remember when we last sent food back, let alone two times. Even the server was frustrated. Needless to say, that ruined our dinner as we were all finished eating by the time the third pork chop came out. And at $46 for an ala carte pork chop, one expects more. Also the server quickly removed each of our wine glasses, one after another, as soon as there was only a bit wine left. I thought that was anything but classy, as I was not finished. The server ended up comping our corkage—$40— for the pork chop disaster but we paid full price for the food. We come to Napa once a month but Press will never be in our plans again. It is also ridiculously pricey and that and bad food and so so service are a bad combination.
Our party of four ate here on a Sunday night.
Our server in the bar area was the most unexcitable person we'd ever met. It was definitely service without a smile. He did the minimal of making suggestions when asked and was not very accessible.
Two in our party had the scallops, and they said they really enjoyed them. The other two had the chicken. It was on the dry side and it took about 15 minutes to get the server to bring more. Both the mashed potatoes and the spinach were very good. We kinda expected more. The desserts were the highlight...the bread pudding was amazing. They also had a good bourbon menu which we enjoyed ordering from.
Staff was knowledgeable and very laid back. Food was fabulous and wine list was extensive with sommeliers to help you.
Incredible meal. The bacon sampler was so cool, excellent mixed drinks. Wagyu was delicious, although it better be for 160 dollars, good fat marbling. It was my girlfriend’s birthday and she had a great time so overall five stars.
Service was really weird as were treated as if we did not belong at the restaurant. Service was slow for only our table.
Our experience at Press was mixed. We initially made a reservation a few weeks in advance of our dinner through Open Table, but weren't able to get a reservation at the ideal time. We took the reservation we were offered, but as many restaurants hold additional tables not offered on Open Table I attempted to contact the restaurant to ask if a later time might be available. I left 3 voice mails and 2 emails with the restaurant over approximately 2 weeks, but they never responded. I also asked the concierge of our hotel to try to get a later reservation but he also never heard back from Press. Honestly, I am appalled that the restaurant didn't respond to multiple inquiries. This should never happen from a restaurant of this caliber.
However, our meal was great. The waitstaff and wine staff were great. The food was good to great. The wine list is phenomenal. Overall, our experience was good, but the lack of response to my inquires was very off putting, and I do not plan to visit this restaurant again.
Food was excellent. Service was excellent as well. We had made a reservation for 6:30, but inadvertently remembered it as 7:00. When we showed up at 6:55 our table had been given to a walk-in. In spite of a very busy night they were able to seat us within 5 minutes. It was a once every two years visit to the area, so their taking care of us was greatly appreciated.
Great service, great food and wine, great ambiance. And, what a pleasant surprise to run into our good friend from Indianapolis!
Somehow somm suggested 1985 wine that never opened up after 90 minutes. Desserts were served after at least a 30 minutes wait and were not that great (maybe dessert chef quit?). Main courses were indifferent. Restaurant comped the desserts and the somm factored in the price of the wine as his cost (I would have given it away). Over all a $1,000 dinner for four that did not hit the mark. I have been to Press at least 5-6 times over the last 2-3 years but this was well below my expectations. Not sure I would go back.
We travel from Chicago many years to Press for our anniversary. This year we were celebrating 20 Years! We made reservation weeks before and simply asked for nice private booth. Even made time early for 6pm. When we arrived hostess tried to seat us at one of those tables where you are at arms length from touching the people next to you. We asked for private booth but they didn’t accommodate and could care less Done with press
Place was off the chain. Amazing food, beverage and service. A must try
I booked our dinner at PRESS to celebrate our 1-year anniversary. Along with the reservation through OpenTable, I made a request for a floral bouquet to be delivered to our table. When we arrived, we were immediately seated at a special table already adorned with a lovely bouquet beginning an evening of exceptional service.
The dinner itself, from our cocktails through the entree and dessert, continued to express the highest levels of quality and professionalism. We were thoroughly delighted with our first experience, and there will be more to be sure.
Disappointed with our visit to Press. We were extremely rushed and felt like the staff/kitchen was just ready to go home. We were sat, ordered cocktails and our meal, and our meal came out before we even received our drinks. They were asking if we wanted dessert within 30 minutes of being sat. When it came time to pay the server stood at the table and waited while we discussed how to divide our tab. It was very uncomfortable. For the price point this is not okay.
Great steaks! Nice to bring your own wine, but corkage is $40.
This is a special place for us. Never a bad meal or service. Thank you for a special evening Loretta! You are a doll.
The sommelier recommended a great bottle of wine to match our liking, and the bone-in ribeye for two was impressive. The steak was tender and flavorful - a definite favorite! My husband is always trying to grill the perfect steak, and his steaks are tough to beat. But Press just raised the bar.
Best meal I’ve ever had and they took excellent care of us. Try the Lobster Mac and Cheese. To die for!
Great food but sub par service in an overcrowded environment.
My wife chose Press for her birthday celebration and they did not disappoint! Delicious food, excellent service and a beautiful setting. We always have a wonderful time when we go here and it’s worth the drive from San Francisco.
Get the bacon appetizer it is in the bar area but they will give to you in dining area if you ask. It is so good
Our server was excellent. She gave us on point recommendations especially with a nightly special on wine. Overall our experience was terrific!
Overall it was good but nothing stood out but the dessert. And if it is possible to over do it on service this place did...4-5 different people visited our table in the first couple of minutes of sitting down. Basically no breathing room at all. In addition, they actually tried to steer me away from bottles of wine I was thinking about because they were “rare and expensive”, suggesting they had plenty of more moderately priced wines by the glass. I guess we either looked like we could not afford it or we didn’t really know what we were doing. In either case it was weird and uncomfortable.
The food was very tastey and the service was good, however the steaks were not the best quality meat for the price.
We did not have a great experience. We were seated approx 30 min after our reservation time and we arrived 30 min before our reservation. Service over dinner was poor also. We have been one other time before and had a much better experience. We were there celebrating by husbands birthday with friends so we were disappointed.
Greg our server was outstanding again! We go to Press twice a year and it never disappoints. Looking forward to our next trip there.
Excellent dinner at Press. Service was top notch, food was delicious and my date was the best - after 29 years of marriage she still likes to go out with me!
