We entered the restaurant and checked in with the hostess at 7:30pm which was 15 minutes prior to our reservation. We were directed to go to the bar seating area until our table was ready. We sat, had drinks and watched the football game. By 8:15 we hadn’t heard about our table so I checked with the front desk. Hostess mentioned that there was some sort of mix up and they’ll seat us right away. We were directed to our table and received our menus promptly from our server. By 8:30, our server had not returned and no drink orders were taken. Patience was growing a bit thin and tried to get someone’s attention to no avail as no one would even look our way. The ambience for the other guests was pleasurable and didn’t want to yell across the restaurant so I head back to the front desk. By this time it’s 8:40 and wait until someone notices me as there is no one tending the front. I return to our table to tell my wife we are leaving and that’s when a server approached us to see if anyone was helping us. I already had my jacket on so we decided not to dine. I spoke with the manager prior to leaving as I had paid for the valet for the restaurant and felt that wasn’t even worth it. Manager was apologetic and did pay for our valet and our drink from the bar. Even though the manager did try to make amends, I would say I was left with a sour taste, but I didn’t even get to taste anything. Hopefully it was an off night, however, not sure if I’d give them a second chance as our service is almost inexcusable for any dining experience.
Service was good. Food was OK. I hoped for better.
Food was amazing. We got the Cesar salad, so good. My husband loved the lamb shank, and I love the risotto. I did add chicken to it and it was dry. Would not recommend add chicken but risotto was amazing by itself. Overall food and service were great. But I wish the dining was more private. Everything is open and you can see everyone at their table.
This place was epic went on a fist date and you can get lost in the moment for hours, with the capital building in the background beautiful. Guys don’t be cheep bring her and you’ll love it. We walked away 200 later but well spent I loved this place
El Risotto estupendo la ensalada César más o menos de mi hija todo muy rico
Might be my favorite newer restaurant in Sacramento. Great service and outstanding food. The soup, roasted carrots, and butterscotch pudding were highlights.
We sat at the bar and we’re well tended by the staff who made excellent recommendations for drinks and dinner. Food was tasty and atmosphere was both chic and comfortable, which is tough to pull off. We would come back here.
The waitress i had last time recognized and greeted us very friendly. Food was delicious and my husband and I had a good experience.
This very quickly became a new favorite for us. Great staff wonderful Menu
Let me start by saying the food was delicious. We had the brussel sprouts appetizer, and for our main dish we had the trout and meatballs. Unfortunately we didn't have the best experience with the staff. I assume we weren't their typical clientele. We came after a day of working at home. I was a bit underdressed and my daughter was more put together, but in her 'alternative' clothing. When we arrived, the restaurant was a little less than 1/2 full. We were put at the table by the kitchen. I asked to move. When we sat our server came over to us, as almost as an afterthought. He immediately asked us what we would like to order, without much of a hello and didn't tell us what the soup of the day was or ask if we had any questions. I felt very rushed. We ordered our appetizer and our main dish came while we were still enjoying our appetizer. The nicest staff person was the gentleman who was pouring water. He gave us a smile and asked us how we were enjoying our meal. As the night progressed our waiter did warm up to us and even gave us a smile. I understand that they may have been stressed by staffing and COVID (although it didn't seem to be the case). However we were definitely treated differently then the surrounding customers. While we weren't treated rudely, we were not welcomed.
Very similar cuisine and ambiance to several of the nicer farm to table inspired restaurants in the area, with larger serving sizes at a much lower price point. Very good experience overall, but you sacrifice a little of the high end vibe, level of service, and knowledge of the cuisine and wines to get the lower price point.
The service was amazing. Paola was very attentive, professional and always checking in. Our water cups were always refilled. The ambiance was wonderful and the food outstanding!!!
Our meal was delicious. But our server, Trinity, was exceptional. The location is lovely and the patio was a great place to enjoy a few cocktails and a meal before a concert.
Great food and service. Pork chop was legit as were the sides.
Great food and ambiance but would benefit from a more unique wine menu
Excellent ambiance. Friendly staff. Enjoyed Prelude before heading to a Kings game.
Prelude has done a great job of combining excellent food and service. Their prices are on the high side, but you get what you pay for. Highly recommend for foodies and craft cocktail connoisseurs.
Prelude has delicious food, drinks and wonderful service. I'd love to give the bar or fireplace seating a try next time.
Both my boyfriend and I had a lovely dinner with great food.
The food was excellent. Our server, Brianna, was wonderful. The Lan Roc Farms Pork Chop was outstanding-delicious, delicious, delicious! Their Sea Bass was tender, flaky, and seasoned well. Our overall dining experience for our table of 8 was great! Their cocktails were superb. Great place for dinner. Can’t wait to try their brunch and lunch menus when they come out.
Beautifully remodeled restaurant w/large outdoor patio w/heaters. The indoor bar area is spacious w/several tvs for sports fans. The Kings game was on the night we were there, but only a couple of people in the bar. Three of us thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. The food and service were both excellent. Our waiter made cocktail and wine suggestions, which we followed and were quite pleased with including the house rye Manhattan served to perfection. I began with the Wagyu Beef Carpaccio which was amazing. Two of us ordered the mushroom risotto with black truffle oil. Large portion - very rich and you could definitely share with a fellow diner. I enjoyed my leftovers the next day for lunch. The third person ordered the Chicken Proscuitto Meatballs server with rigatoni. We all got a taste and, again, delicious. Definitely want to return for that dish. We skipped dessert but will certainly be back and give that a try, too. Really hope people start getting out and give this new restaurant a try.
One of the best new restaurants apart of the farm to fork movement of Sacramento. From service to culinary to overall experience. Such an amazing place to dine and cant not wait to go back again.
Too many issues to mention! Not worth my time.
One and done!!
Prelude’s ambience and atmosphere is very chic and energetic. The food was delicious, very well balanced flavors and a great drink list. The service was outstanding! I will definitely be back
Great dinner and evening. The service was top of the bar. Wait staff, kind, courteous, and helpful. The food was delicious. Great wine and cocktail menu
Will be back soon
It’s super loud… From everyone’s enjoying their company and they’re great meal… If you’re looking for and do it quiet dinner this isn’t the place but if you’re looking for great food and service and this is the place for you.
This was our first visit to Prelude and it will not be our last. The food was excellent. Our waiter provided a great wine suggestion for my dish: sea bass. The fish was lovely with a crisp, slightly salty crust. All the flavors went wonderfully together. My partner had the lamb shank, also delicious. We highly recommend the carrots! Service was prompt and friendly.
The food and service at Prelude was fantastic! Wonderful experience for my wife and I!
Great food and service!
Chicken was undercooked. Otherwise,
The wine pairing with the dine downtown was a nice addition.
Food was delicious, service was attentive.
We will definitely make a return visit.
Great new restaurant recently opened. Beautiful design, excellent food and cocktails and wonderful service. Can’t wait to return.
Great place for upscale food, without the huge crowd. Very calm atmosphere, nice and clean.
Good creative food and great service from Paula. We tried a bunch of appetizers and a great pasta dish. Check this new place out if you are a foodie.
They were awesome, great look inside.
We ordered the truffle risotto which was good but needed more truffle. We also had the chicken meatballs and pasta that was good but needed more sauce. The carrot appetizer was the highlight of the meal. The chocolate decadence cake with cherry sorbet was good, but it did not need the peppermint marshmallow. It would have been better without it. They are brand new, so we will give them another shot.
Great service, delicious food/drinks, wonderful dessert! Very nice more upscale dining. Will be returning to try more dishes.
This is my second time since they opened less than a month ago. The menu is a perfect size, not too small, not too big. The service is just right, not pushy, not too long between them coming. Also, the cocktails are the awesome!! Been very happy and will continue to visit!
Excellent, new, offering downtown for those who enjoy fine food, great service, and a quality ambiance. Visited with a party of four and a 3 month old. Each appetizer and meal along with deserts received positive reviews. Even the Manhattan cocktail one of us opened with was praised by the one enjoying. Definitely need to go again.
