POWDERKEG, Battersea’s favourite neighbourhood bar is a short stroll from Clapham Junction station.

They relaunched in autumn 2017 with a fresh look and new owners – the team behind southwest London’s award Winning Brickwood Cafés, WC Wine & Charcuterie and Joe Public Pizza.

POWDERKEG specialises in delicious cocktails, British craft beers and an ever-changing wine list.

The kitchen residency at Powder Keg comes from the well know Joe Public Pizza, serving Californian style sourdough pizzas by the slice and huge 20” pies.

With a 2am licence on Fridays and Saturdays, it’s also a great local spot to book for drinks parties.

Incredible pizza but watch out for the size. Don’t order two 20 inch pizzas if you’re two people. One is more than enough for two. Cocktails were the let down. Some nice signature cocktails but the bar staff weren’t experienced enough to do the classic cocktails well. Bad gimlet and bad martini, ok Manhattan. Good vibes though.

I visited Powderkeg in 2019 after having had what I classed as the best brunch in London in 2018. Unfortunately, the menu had changed significantly and dishes were more generic and bland. I won't be going back. The environment is really nice, with a beautiful conservatory and I probably would leave a different review if I hadn't had such a brilliant experience at Powderkeg last year.

Booked brunch for 12:00 and even though they open at 10:30 the place was empty when we arrived - A few people arrived after us. The brunch menu is different than on Opentable, with not many options - no fried chicken for example! Smoked Salmon & Eggs was good, but I added Sausage on the side which was a mistake. They advertise a Gloucester Old Spot sausage, but I received poor quality ones. The food took 35 minutes to arrive even though we were the first to order at 12pm. Drinks (juices) were very good and the staff very pleasant.

We had a lovely relaxed meal with food that was very good. The evening was let down by the extremely slow service which is reflected in the review rating. Having said that the staff were very apologetic and gave us an additional free bottle of wine which was very much appreciated.

Opentable said there were tables available to be booked. So we booked. Only to be told late at night and then with a phone call less than 2 hours before explaining there was no available tables. Disappointing

We were seated quickly and the ambience was quiet, not too difficult to carry a conversation. The meal was average but for the atmosphere 8/10.

Amazing cocktails and very personalised service. Food was really good (but secondary to the cocktails for sure). I found the music slightly too loud but I guess it is a restaurant off the back of a bar and a Friday night.

I really loved the Valentine’s menus and thought the food was great value. The place is beaut and the staff were very amicable! I will definitely go again with my pals!
