Beautiful... away from the crowds and one minute walk from miles of walkable beach
We were seated promptly and served water and bread. The butter was very salty. The cocktail was fine. The “Cornish hen” was not a Cornish hen but a chicken breast, although it was tasty enough. The shrimp and grits plate was very poor - everything very dry, grits quite tasteless Nd the shrimp overdone. The Brussels sprouts were ok but overdone. It seemed like the whole plate had been reheated and just left too long in the oven - most disappointing. Ambience somewhat lacking, some of the fairy lights not working. All in all, not nearly food enough to justify the pricing. Charged $77 for 2 entrees and a cocktail.
They were very accommodating for a guest that had special dietary needs. The service was excellent. The food tasted good. The only downside was that all of the outdoor heat lamps in our seating area could not be turned on, because they were out of fuel. We were offered a seat indoors instead, which we declined.
First time here for my significant other's birthday.
The food was incredible, very lowkey but nice view, and an adorable restaurant.
Would happily go again.
It was awesome as usual.
Overpriced. Poor service. Terrible management.
We went for lunch on a Saturday and they had 3 sandwiches on the menu and 3 or 4 salads, but they were out of two of the sandwiches and had no substitutions. They said it was due to a wedding the previous night. They didn’t plan for the wedding?
We decided to stay and just have an appetizer. We ordered the baked goat cheese app. It was good but the server forgot to bring small plates to eat from.
$20 for two waters and goat cheese?. I wouldn’t bother a second time.
A must visit for brunch lovers and anyone who likes a scenic view with their drink!
Food is amazing. Wedge salad incredible dressing. Crab cake excellent. Creme brûlée very good.
It’s a nice quiet place in Galveston it is over priced but it’s catering to its residents so it is understandable. I’ve been there done that!
Lovely place to enjoy dinner in an outdoor environment!
We sat on the porch facing the beautiful sunset and enjoyed our watermelon margaritas before dinner. The drink was delicious! We both ate every morsel of our meal. Wait staff was prompt and friendly without being obsequious.
Brunch for our Anniversary. Absolutely wonderful food and service!
The Porch Cafe at Beachtown is a upscale cafe with exquisite gourmet style. Perfect for brunch with friends, celebratory lunches, date nights and dinners for any special event. If you enjoy cafe dining, on a screened in porch among beautiful palm lined promenades and grand homes - the Porch Cafe your new favorite foodie find. The service is always top notch, truly the best I have experienced on the island. Under COVID procedures, dining is currently only available through reservations. Make your reservations - you will not be disappointed.
Food was wonderful!
My husband and I celebrated my birthday here and had a lovely bottle of sancerre along with shrimp/grits and redfish. Beautiful Louisiana wedge salad to start as well. Only restaurant in Beachtown so thank goodness it's worth going back several times during a stay there.
We love Shara, the server. The food is consistently delicious!
Lovely venue and terrific food and service! Great experience!
The location of the Porch Cafe is absolutely stunning. Beachtown is beautiful and it has a relaxing feel. The food at the cafe for brunch is delicious, the Bloody Marys are great. I highly recommend but, make a reservation!!!
Just OK. Actually out of shrimp for Saturday lunch. Pretty amazing considering you are in Galveston Tx.
Food and service were great - we had a lovely Louisiana inspired dinner and our server was attentive and polite. However, we sat outside on the porch (that is screened in) and were attacked by mosquitos midway through the meal. It was enough to ruin the experience completely. We didn't even stay to look at the dessert menu, and tried to eat as quickly as possible to end the meal sooner. We would recommend the restaurant provide mosquito repellent to guests who request it, as well as lighting citronella candles.
Fried Green Tomatoes were delicious. Chicken and waffles very tasty. We sat on the porch. We asked if the fans could be turned on and were informed they were broken. Suggest fixing.
Great food. We have eaten here for many summers and this may have been the best meal yet.
beautiful restaurant in a very pretty area of Galveston. Wonderful food in nice surroundings. Water view from porch.
We feel like family when we go to The Porch.
The food is delicious and the waitstaff is wonderful%!
Fabulous food. The staff seemed rushed and not quite together. They kept turning people away because they said they were full except there was a whole porch with one couple seated in it. There said they were full with reservations but a large table showed up an hour late and was still seated. Again fabulous food but service was lacking
We usually love this place. Went for lunch for my wife’s birthday with her parents. They had no tea and no sandwiches. How do you have no tea or bread?! Basically stuck getting either breakfast or salad. We got breakfast and the chef could not even cook an egg. My over-easy eggs and my father in law’s over-medium eggs were over cooked and hard. Guess we need to stay away until they fully reopen. Real shame as they used to be very good.
We had great service and the food was good! Highlight was definitely the watermelon margarita. Definitely recommend sitting on the porch, enjoying the sea breeze & cocktail!
Great fresh food, peter was a wonderful server. We enjoyed eating there.
Nice and clean restaurant. Easy reservation, greeted. Nice waitstaff. Waitstaff conversation and review of menu and options good. They were out of a few things but what we ordered was still delicious.
Great place for a quiet dinner, especially for the wine pairing!
Very quaint, cozy restaurant. Nice for a romantic dinner
The atmosphere was like something out of hawaii...the breeze was wonderful and we had a nice view of the homes and water. The food was fabulous! We had the crab cake, louisiana lettuce wedge, shrimp and grits. etc...the service was 5 star! we loved it so much, we went back the next night!
We had a wonderful experience. Petey, our waiter was a consummate professional, and his food recommendations were top notch. I had the crab cake sandwich, my wife had the shrimp poboy, and we got our son the kid's chicken strips. Their portion sizes are huge, and the food was excellent. We'll definitely be back.
Only thing was a lady at a table sneezed and she did not cover her mouth and since the fans were on. During this time of covid 19 that is not right.
Jackson as always was great, food was awesome atmosphere is beautiful that’s why we always come back
We vacationed in Galveston for a long weekend on the East End in the Beachtown development. During COVID, outdoor dining has been our preference. The Porch had recently procured a chef from New Orleans and WOW! Great food, good ambiance of sitting outdoors on a screened in porch, good value.
Love the Porch Cafe. Excellent food and fun atmosphere.
Service was great from when we arrived until we left. Server was friendly and professional. Food and drinks were delicious.
We ate brunch at Porch Cafe for Father's Day and it was amazing - the service and food were both fantastic. We wanted to try Porch Cafe on our visit to Galveston and brunch was the perfect opportunity - it was a great dining experience, from the wonderful appetizers to the perfectly cooked crab cake on the eggs benedict, everything was a hit - the coffee, some of the very best I've ever had, and the mimosa's were both on point as well. If you're in Galveston, don't miss an opportunity to go to Porch Cafe.
The restaurant was closed and I’m very madd that open table booked me a reservation. It was a birthday dinner and we got to the restaurant and thy were closed due to renovations!!!! Galveston was very busy so we had no place for that dinner!!!
