Just steps away from the beach.
We look forward to seeing you soon!

Out of many items on the menu, I am a former chef and you need to make exceptions sometimes to pay the Bill's and so served can get paid
The food is not top notch by any means.
A little confusion over reservation when we arrived but was quickly taken care of. Actually this is the second reservation through open table that has not gone smoothly recently. Maybe the software?
It’s out of season for Galveston so the menu was limited. The food we had was very good and the bottle of wine was excellent.
As usual, our meal was very good. Jackson is an excellent server.
It were luv’ly guv’nor!
Preferred the flavors in the gumbo over our fish and chicken selections. Big portions. Jackson was a great waiter.
Food was ok, the coffee was terrible, tea was served cold but server did replace with hot tea. We sat in the porch thinking ambiance would be similar to interior and it was not at all attractive. Probably will not visit again.
Terrible service - very disappointed considering how great of a space the restaurant is.
Food was great!
It is a beautiful place that reminds me of a southern plantation.
We made a reservation, but the table wasn’t ready when we arrived. Since we were a little early, we didn’t mind the wait. There isn’t a clear “bar area” to order drinks, so we asked the host/manager (???) where we could order drinks while we waited. He took our order, and he eventually served us our drinks. All was still fine at this point.
When the same host/manager came to seat us, he took us and 2 other tables of 2 to a quiet, sparse—and for lack of a better description—back room. My husband and I immediately began to feel awkward, as the other 2 couples could probably hear our entire conversation (we could hear theirs). After waiting for 10 minutes without any acknowledgement of our presence (a waiter came to one table but didn’t even say hello to us), and without being offered so much as a glass of water, we decided to leave.
On our way out, we explained why we were leaving to the host/manager, and he offered to buy us breakfast. We declined because our experience had already been tainted, and we didn’t want to risk the possibility of things getting worse. We offered to pay for our drinks, but the host/manager comped those.
I can’t comment on the food because we didn’t get the chance to try any. The drinks were so-so. The actual porch portion of the restaurant looked pretty cute, but since we were sequestered to the “back room,” I can’t speak to the ambiance either.
We were really looking forward to our brunch at the Porch Café, so it’s too bad we didn’t get the full experience. I have read other reviews—both positive and negative—so I do hope the restaurant is reading them and working to improve. It’s not every day that many of us can make the trip to Galveston.
We were very pleased with the simple and well executed menu. We'll be back!
We weren't seated and were as little confused about how to get our table, since it was our first time. Service was great and staff were very friendly, however. The atmosphere was very cozy and romantic. I would like to see more menu options, however. There was a very noisy group of girls that were fairly obnoxious, but that isn't the resturaunt's fault. Overall, I would come again. I would suggest a sign or something that directs new customers to the staff behind the bar.
Overall we were happy with the quality of the food and the service. The environment is good and it is a nice spot on east beach. The only downside is that the prices are a bit high.
My wife had the snapper and scallops and I had the shrimp and grits. Both were excellent. Highly recommend.
It was fantastic
Have always loved the Porch Cafe. But it is becoming less than it was. I still enjoy on occasion.
Fantastic meal and service. Limited menu, but no need for numerous plates when the dishes are fabulous.
The hostess didn’t want us to sit inside with the air conditioning. However my husband can’t tolerate the heat due to a heat stroke. The food was just okay but not great. The waitress was wonderful and did an outstanding job.!
We love this place! We come eat here every time we come to Galveston. Thank you for such great soups!!!
Overpriced food and poor service. A bit disappointed since its in a great location
I do not recommend. I should've paid attention to the poor reviews concerning the lack of service & their disregard to reservations. We arrived on time for our 830pm reservation. When we arrived, I told the hostess at the reception desk my name, our reservation time, & that we'd booked through Open Table. She said to have a seat on the front porch while they got the table ready. THIRTY MINUTES LATER, & no one had come out to get us, to talk to us, to ask if we wanted a drink or a glass of water, or to tell us why there was a delay in seating. So, at 9pm, we got up from the porch & headed to the reception desk. No one there. I went to the nearby bar & told the bar tender that we were cancelling our reservation because we'd waited half an hour past the reservation time & hadn't been seated. We left & found quick service & good food at another Galveston restaurant.
I took my parents and a family friend here for dinner on a Saturday night. We chose to sit inside as it was a bit warm that evening; inside was a bit warm too but they had portable fans and ceiling blowing that kept the air circulating.
They had live music, a piano player, which I always enjoy but it was loud so we found ourselves trying to talk over the music. I would suggest they turn it down just a bit in the main dining area so that diners can enjoy conversation.
The menu is limited but our food was delicious...we enjoyed the friend green tomatoes, crab cake, scallops and shrimp and grits. No complaints there!
My guests had a great experience and enjoyed the food and the environment
The place was quaint, it caters to the crowd of the area. The food was good but not something I would drive an hour away to come back too like I did today. I really enjoyed the area however and the walkway to the beach.
Slow service, average food, skimpy salad. No need to return.
We had a reservation for a 2pm Sunday brunch, however when we arrived there was only a very minimal buffet option (eggs, sausage, biscuits, gravy, fruit, pound cake, and bacon if you asked for it) -- no actual brunch menu. Their website says they serve brunch until 3pm, so we were expecting to be able to order off the brunch menu. We basically paid $15 per person for leftovers. We had to drive a long way to get there, so we were really disappointed. Also, the restaurant was super hot -- there must be something wrong with their a/c.
Food wasn’t as good as it has been. Steak and fish were very over salted, fried green tomatoes were too heavily breaded. The cocktails and wine were quite good.
Having enjoyed meals in the past, this was quite disappointing.
This was our third visit. Even with a reservation we were seated directly in front of the entrance. They were not serving two of the menu items we specifically came in for (quail and ceviche). We ordered wine at the same time as we did our meal, but had to ask for the wine after the appetizers were served. Fried green tomatoes were not green. Entrees arrived well before we had finished our appetizers. Other food items were good, but not great. This visit was overpriced for the experience.
We come to The Porch restaurant every time we come to Galveston. The food is always wonderful, service is very attentive, and the restaurant is beautiful. Tonight I had the Lemon Butter Salmon and my husband had the Grilled Snapper and Scallops. Both entrees were awesome. Great cocktails and wine also.
We had a reservation for four people at 12:00. When we arrived, we were told that there would be a 5-10 minute wait for an indoor table. We were escorted past an indoor table with a reserved sign on it, to an area on the porch to wait for a table. We didn't get seated until 12:30. Other than that, the service was good and the food was delicious. I would eat here again, but I wouldn't waste my time making a reservation.
We flew into Galveston for a girls holiday and I booked the porch for our first night. We were really looking forward to it. However it was a disaster.
Our reservation was for 8 pm, we arrived at 7:50 and were given the option of sitting inside or outside. We asked to sit outside. The manager said it would be a 10 min wait so suggested we enjoy a cocktail and listen to the live music. Great idea we thought. Then my friend slipped and stubbed her toe badly, the sac player was obnoxious and very loud and we had to ask 3 times over a 40 min period if our table was ready.
Finally we were seated but not outside. In a back room that had terrible acoustics and it was terribly terribly loud!!!!!!!! It went steadily downhill from there. We ordered wine and it took almost an hour for the bottle to be brought to our table without glasses or a wine cooler (the table next to us had a wine cooler so we know they have them). We had to ask for glasses several times and we were finally delivered plastic wine glasses. Not impressive. We had to ask for glass tumblers. The cherry on top was when the waiter brought the bill with our hosts credit card they gave us someone else’s bill and credit card.
It was terribly disappointing and as a result we will not be returning and that is another disappointment as the venue is lovely and the food is original but the service was miserable.
Our waitress was horrible and rude. She was absent and short when she did come by. My husbands dish was great, as were the desserts. My food was cold and shrimp overdone. My brother's dish came out as the wrong fish and wrong baking style. Perhaps it was an off night. Thought it was a cute place and menu sounded good with inventive flavor mixes. Was disappointed we wasted my husband's birthday dinner here.
where to begin ... table bussed but no menus/setups until walked to the hostess. coffee cold. lemonade premixed. "kitchen informs that they cannot mix tomatoes into eggs." when served eggs, cold. bacon - 2 slices poor quality. halfway through when asked about the status of the cinnamon bun, said "on its way" - five minutes later, "what are you missing?" - three minutes later "sorry we ran out." oh dear. at least close to the beach.
Both the food and service where amazing. Maybe the best food on the island.
Loved this little Gem! So glad I found it!! Great Menu! Great Ambiance! Great Service!! Nice change to all the fried American food/seafood typical to Galveston. Definitely will be back on my next visit to the coast.
We enjoyed our evening of celebrations, thanks to Ryan and his graciousness!
Simply awesome. Enjoyed the atmosphere, the employees were very personable, and the food was excellent. We went twice in two days! We are certainly going back!
Excellent cuisine! Will be returning next time in Galveston!!!
Expensive and worth every penny! We splurge like this only every once in a while and taking our children and in-laws there for an anniversary dinner with a fabulous beach walk right afterwards was such an occasion. Hats off to the chef, portions were great and every bite was wonderful. It was quiet but full of life as well. Reservations recommended
Booked Porch Café for my Dad's 73rd birthday dinner. It was absolutely perfect - ambiance, service and food. I think the best part was the cocktail list, if I had to choose.
