If you are looking for a great evening, look no further. Poppy & Seed had it all (great food, great service, and great atmosphere). Big shout out to to our waiter David! He was excellent and all of his suggestions helped create a special evening.

Great & friendly service is the highlight of this restaurant. The menu is limited unless you like a large appetizer offering. That they have. No salads or soups offered. Just appetizers and entrees. My pork chop was okay however my wife's pasta was extremely salty. The wine list is nothing notable and cocktails are served in small glasses. I can't find a reason to go back unless i just want to be treated friendly by the staff as they seem to be doing that well.

I’ve been to Poppy & Seed 4 times and every time the food was excellent. The service is very attentive. Our server, Amy, was extremely pleasant and friendly. We’ll be back!

Our waiter, Noland was great!! He was very personable and attentive. The vibe of the restaurant was also really nice. The food was okay. I expected it to be more flavorful. The best item was a side dish- sweet potatoes and kale.

This was my 2nd visit. I have been for dinner in the past and it was pheromonal. Brunch was OK, The chilaquiles were dry, soggy and lacking flavor and crunch with dry short ribs. The short rib hash had a good flavor. The biscuits and gravy was OK, the biscuit was too hard and had to use a knife cut through it. The chicken and waffles was really good, perfectly coated and crispy chicken. The hash brown stack was a big dry block, was hoping this was going to be delicious as it had the perfect crunch on outside, but the inside was just dried out potato. The drinks were delicious. I likely wouldn't return for brunch, but definitely will come back for dinner.

For our anniversary, my wife and I dined at Poppy and Seed in Anaheim, CA, lured by its Michelin Guide status and promise of fine dining. We expected a special evening with great food and service, but the experience fell short, leaving us disappointed and unlikely to return. We started with three appetizers: sourdough bread, grilled octopus, and kingfish yellowtail crudo. The sourdough was a highlight—warm, crusty outside, soft inside, a comforting start. The grilled octopus was equally impressive, tender with a perfect char, showing the kitchen’s skill. However, the kingfish crudo disappointed. It lacked the fresh, bold flavors expected of raw fish, making it forgettable. We ordered two cocktails, which were decent but not special. Our waiter didn’t offer another round, a small but noticeable lapse for a high-end spot. The service was a major letdown. Our waiter seemed off, and after a few mistakes—like slow responses and forgotten requests—they stopped engaging with us. For an anniversary, we hoped for warm, attentive service, but it felt cold and detached, dimming the celebratory vibe. Our mains were corn ravioli and grilled branzino. The ravioli boasted lump crab, but it was nearly absent. When we found traces, we doubted it was real crab. The restaurant claims local sourcing, but crab in Anaheim seems unlikely. The branzino, with lemon caper sauce, was another miss. The sauce tasted like a bad piccata, overpowering the fish with a harsh, unbalanced tang. By dessert time, we were done. We wanted a sweet end to our night, we skipped it, feeling disconnected. The men’s bathroom was also unclean, with a large puddle on the floor, shocking for a Michelin-listed spot and further souring our view. Poppy and Seed’s Michelin status raised hopes, but the reality didn’t match. The bread and octopus shone, but the weak crudo, poor mains, lackluster service, and dirty facilities overshadowed them. For a special night, we expected magic, but left let down.

This was an elevated yet non pretentious dining experience. The service was amazing, and the food was even better. The drinks were well balanced, and it was lovely to walk around the garden to check out the veggies and herbs that are used in the dishes. Would love to return!
