Got a good review in the Houston paper - don't know why. Advised to make reservation - only 2 tables full on Sun night. Menu limited & overpriced. If you're interested, try soon - doubt it will survive.

This was our second visit from AZ. Unfortunately, this visit did not come close to our first dining experience. Our waitress seemed inexperienced, non attentive as a server and she really put a damper on things. I'm sure Chef Tyler would have been appalled by the plating, and temperatures of our meal. We even allowed to shift our reservation to accommodate over bookings. The food and service were really not at a level we anticipated, or expected. Did we have too high expectations??? In addition, when I made the reservation through Open Table, I noted it was a special occasion. But nobody at the restaurant knew, or acknowledged the reason for our visit. Having said all that, we would still come back. We love the menu, Chef Tyler, Nicole and the edgy blonde bartender (name???) We understand everyone can have an off day. I just hope the next time we visit, Plate is on the upswing! Congratulations to Chef Tyler on his "Chopped" competition. We continue to be impressed by this young mans character and culinary skills. Best wishes to Plate and company....

My short rib dish @ $28.00 was over cooked and overpriced. The room used to be a sports bar and though the restaurant aspires to more, it still feels like a sports bar.

The Plate is a new restaurant on the east side of Durango off Florida Road. The restaurant is located where another restaurant was located in a small shopping/office complex. We think this restaurant will become an excellent neighborhood place. We have been to the Plate five times now and have found it to be very good and enjoyable. We have been to dinner four different occasions and Sunday Brunch once. The dinner food was outstanding. The menu is a bit lacking in variety but they feature specials each day and the specials have been ... well ....special! My wife has tried the Quesadilla several times and the Veggie Wrap, I have tried the Texas Barbecue Plate, the Durangotan Burger, the Sous Vida Short Ribs, and the Plate Tex-Mex Fajitas. All these dishes were wonderful and the food will keep us coming back. The Sunday Brunch was excellent, but I thought it was a little expensive for brunch. I had the Crab Cakes and my wife had the Eggs Benedict. The Plate features a full bar with interesting cocktails and a large selection of beers and wine. Something for everyone. The atmosphere is modern with a nice bar. Service is good. The Plate seems to be very busy and on Fridays often has a wait time around 7:00 PM. They will serve you a drink while you wait which is a nice touch. Overall I highly recommend the Plate, You will enjoy it!

The restaurant did not have my reservation. However, e Mountain Grouse Grill did have my reservation this evening and it was great!

Improving every week. Front of house is jelling. Juliet, our wait person, was one of best we've ever had in Durango.

Arrived for 7:15pm reservation, with OpenTable reservation confirmation in hand. Was told that no tables were available or were about to become available. Manager said that OpenTable has been over-subscribing their reservations "for a few weeks", but apparently they (Plate management) had not done anything to rectify the problem. So we were forced to leave.
