Great dining experience except the bread/baguette was not high quality. We wondered if the loaf had been previously frozen? It would really elevate this restaurant to buy artisanal bread from nearby bakeries. We will be back, this restaurant is convenient for us, but probably won’t ask for bread.
Lovely service and chill ambiance. Played great music. Excellent bernaise sauce.
I love Plan B and go whenever I am in town - always get the mussels! Brought three of my friends and they loved it too - the menu is varied - the ambiance soft and soothing and service is wonderful - molten chocolate cake was amazing!!
The Plan B restaurants are our go-to for dinner when we are in Sacramento working, which happens a couple times a year. Also good for coming home from the mountains. Delicious casual French cuisine prepared expertly. Magnifique! Great value for the money.
No ventilation, your clothes sure smells afterwards!
Came in on a Friday night with a reservation. A reservation is recommended for the weekend - it was pretty busy at about 6:30pm. Cool decor and very friendly wait staff. With the place being full, it was a little loud. The acoustics echo in this place so I really had to speak up so my wife could hear me. Food was good. We started with a celery root soup (awesome) and calamari. She has a filet with red wine demi-glaze and I had pork chops with chanterelle mushrooms. Not large portions but the food was delicious. Will definitely try this place again.
We dined here on New Year’s Eve. Although they had a full house, the service was excellent. Our waiter was very attentive and informative about the menu. If I could, I would give the service 10 stars. My husband had the rack of lamb and I had the lobster risotto. Both dishes were excellent! This was the first time we dined here, and we were not disappointed. We will be back.
We were there on New Year's Eve, likely their busiest day of the year. They were clearly overwhelmed, but made us feel welcome and moved quickly to clear a table. We were seated by the bar which made it noisier (along with NYE merriment). Food was delicious. Service was friendly and prompt. The wine list is good, with multiple options by the glass.
Rated a little lower on service because it took a while to get water and waiter but will give them a pass because it was New Year’s Eve and they were super busy. The rest of evening’s service was better.
It was New Year's Eve with expected crowds with reservation. We didn't see the owner, and the place looked short-handed for the occasion. Maybe somebody called in sick? We waited a little longer for everything, but still we had a good time and a good dinner.
Wow. Plan B has been added to my rotation of restaurants. Hidden Gem
Stumbled on this restaurant and really had no idea what to expect. Managed to get a table just before the evening rush. Had no idea how lucky we were to stumble on to a great find.
Food was first class. Servers were very friendly. Drinks were super strong.
If you're looking for authentic French cuisine without all the stuffiness, this might be the place for you.
Lovely dining experience! We enjoyed everything from the rosemary chicken to the saffron risotto with the lobster.
Exceptional food, great atmosphere, superb service!
The service was very slow and indifferent, without apology. We had to ask for water repeatedly, follow up to get our drinks, did not get bread until entrees were served, and dinner took a very long time even though we had appetizers. The server almost left without asking half the table what they wanted to drink, and would have left if we did not stop him. The cocktails were incorrectly made, including a muddled maraschino cherry in an Old Fashioned. The food was disappointing after having had excellent experience in the past. After entrees were delivered, the server only asked two of the four people how their food was. The crab appetizer was overly greasy, the lamb was medium well to well done after asking for medium rare, and the chocolate molten cake was lukewarm and broken when it arrived. Finally, when we paid, they delivered the check to the only man at the table and then returned the check for him to sign after seeing a woman provide her credit card, in a clearly female name. We have had outstanding experience here in the past. This was like a totally different restaurant.
Very nice experience, overall. The food was very tasty. Dishes skew towards "hearty" but not heavy, and traditional (i.e., not modern or contemporary) in nature. The duck, halibut and steak au poivre were all very satisfying. The escargot underwhelmed, though. Also, the wine list is somewhat disappointing given the opportunity to provide more obscure and French options to complement the fare. Bring your own bottle(s).
It's been a while since we were here but plan to come back more often. Everything was quite wonderful - from the garlic soup to the halibut and short ribs. A place for families or a romantic dinner.
We went to celebrate a birthday. Had the mussels with ponme frites, and a fruit tart for dessert. Everything was yummy.
Being this was my first time to Plan B I was impressed. The decor was very nice and comfortable. The service was excellent as was the food. Our waiter(?) was wonderful and charming. Sorry I forgot his name as I have Parkinson's and don't always remember names, but as I said, he was great. I will definitely tell all our friend and business acquaintances about your wonderful establishment. By the way, my husband and his friends get together for your " Happy Hour" at least once a week, sometimes more, and love the appetizers. Hope to see you soon.

It seemed that the restaurant was understaffed. Our waiter took our drink orders, delivered them and then disappeared. After flagging him down, it was more than 30 minutes after our arrival before our waiter was available to take our order. I got a little grumpy knowing that food was at least 20 minutes away. Our friends who were with us said that their previous experience was similar - slow service. Some French bread and butter arrived, but sad to say the bread did not seem fresh. The food itself was tasty, but getting cranky while waiting for food does not make for a good overall experience. It's too bad it wasn't a better experience as it's a relatively nice restaurant overall and it's in our neighborhood.
Excellent meal. Good wine list.
The restaurant was overwhelmed by a bit birthday party that was extremely loud and obnoxious. Not only did it take away from the usual great ambiance but it also overwhelmed the staff. This is still one of the best restaurants in East Sacramento.
One of my favorite places to go. Food is great, service is fabulous, when the owners are there they spend time with you to make sure you are satisfied with everything.
The food was good but not fabulous. Portions were small. Mussels were tiny.
This is my second time here and I love it. Our waiter was very nice, polite, gave us plenty of space so we could converse and spend time with each other. He was so sweet and the food of course is excellent!!!
I will always come back, I love the ambiance it is an overall great place and not to far from my house. Dawn
We were happy with our first trip to the restaurant. Tried the mussels which were good. My wife had the parchment wrapped branzino and I had the rib eye. Both were excellent. We will be back.
Thebmostvdelicious meal I've had in Sacramento in the last 20 years. Kind an generous service. Will DEFINITELY be back.
Plan B is a great find for this neighborhood to have such a good restaurant so close by that serves great food and has a very friendly service staff. I’d recommend this to anyone in the Carmichael - Fair Oaks area.
The food is absolutely spectacular. Everyone enjoyed their meal. However, we were there for 2.5 hours, most of it waiting, and we did not have a whole bunch of courses (just mussels, entre, and dessert). This may not be the fault of the server -- it could be that the kitchen was very slow and/or that there are simply not enough servers to keep track of everything. But we had to ask for additional bread for our mussels (I had to go find the waiter in the bar area), and twice we had to ask for more water. We waited a half hour after our entre plates were cleared before the waiter came back to see if we wanted dessert. He did not check on us at all after delivering our food. I wish I could recommend this place because of the food, and I do recommend it if you want an extremely leisurely dinner, but for us it just was too slow.
Sitting on the patio, which is basically the parking lot, wasn't our idea of a nice date night dinner. No host to greet us. We had to wait for the bartender to finish pouring drinks to seat us. Our waiter was really nice when we saw him. Won't be going back.
The food was delicious! Best rack of lamb in town. The butter lettuce salad was exquisite and the cheesecake was sublime. The service was quirky and uneven, though, which is why I only gave it a four star rating.
Good good and friendly service.
Amazing as usual. We love this place. Thank you Chris for an amazing dinner when my Plan A failed. Plan b is always a good choice
Very attentive waiters. The mussels were unbelievable. My wife had the salmon and it was good too. We definitely will return.
Exceptional food and service!!
Just spent my wife's 50th B day there with kids and it was perfect. Feels like our restaurant, in our town, and sure enough saw one of our friends there. Great for a touch of sophisticationin for our simple Carmichael family life. Just right for my very special wife.Thank you.
My daughters 6 year birthday!
What a gem this restaurant is. It feels small and cozy but with room to have an intimate time with friends. The food was Uh-Mazing! The plates were flavorful, perfect temperature and the flavors balanced and fresh. Great atmosphere for ladies night or celebration dinner. The bar looked lively and would be fun to just hang out for a bite to eat and glass of wine. Highly recommend!
Fish and fillet both over cooked but server redid entire meal which was done perfectly the second time and gave us wine and dessert on the house!
Unpretentious French influenced restaurant. Small but very adequate menu. Kitchen knows what it's doing.Menu choices were perfect. We could have happily ordered anything on the menu. Look forward to going back.
Went with a friend. The food and service was excellent. This is a great neighborhood restaurant. We will be back.
