What Insiders Are Saying
No, Pizzeria Mozza is not the best pizza in LA. But that doesn’t mean it’s not still a good restaurant.
First time go to Pizzeria Mozza. Very consistent and delicious food. Appreciated that there were reservations available. I can't wait to go back soon.
Pizzeria Mozza refuses to rest on its well-deserved laurels. The food and service continue to be outstanding.
Good light dinner before the theatre
The food was so so delicious. Everything my sister and I ordered was perfection!
I’ve been coming to Puzzerua Mozza for several years. The food is excellent, the staff is excellent. But there are two things that are increasingly irritating. Since there’s nowhere to park, we’re of course dependent on valet parking. The price has now risen to $14 ( plus tip, optional). I think that’s outrageous. And if I arrive first, or someone else in my party does (generally only two of us) even if the restaurant is practically empty, we’re refused seating ‘until we’re complete’. Which generally means standing and leaning on a wall. I once said ‘even if my friend doesn’t come, which she will, I’m having dinner here and would like to be seated.’ The answer was no.
Honestly, I’ll miss this restaurant but don’t know if I’ll be back
Tried the meatball pizza for the first time: outstanding! Wine suggestions were perfect...as always it was a wonderful meal.
Everything we ordered (caprese, meatballs, squash blossom pizza and fennel and sausage pizza, ginger cake, caramel homemade marshmallow) was extraordinary. I wish I could already go back.
It was a great experience. Appetizers were better than ever. The seasonal roasted cauliflower was beyond exceptional. The pizzas were less impressive than normal. The Bianca pizza was undercooked and under seasoned. Mostly really good. Always love the ambiance. Server was awesome! Thx for showing our pit of town family a great time!
The pizza crust is fantastic - slightly chewy with good flavour. We didn't pick properly and got the meat lover's pizza (pretty salty). That crust with less meat would have been excellent. Oh well - next time.
The cache of the past is gone. Couldn’t find anything in the chopped salad other than the lettuce—-none of the goodies were present. The pizza was good but took an exhorbitant time to arrive. The lentils were good but only lukewarm. Doubtful we’ll be back. Too expensive and pretentious for an average experience. On a high note, our server was lovely.
by far my favorite pizza spot in town. Nancy, we love you.
Love the Antipasti options. Pizza is amazing. Service is always great.
Always excellent food, and very competent service. Noise level has to be contended with, however.
This was the second time we came back during our trip because the food was so good. We came during lunch so we decided to take advantage of the lunch special; wine, pizza, and dessert. We had two waiters helping us and one had explained which items were allowed with the special. The other waiting came back and we starting ordering from those items. Once we got to the last course the waiter informed us that what we had ordered actually wasn’t a part of the special. We ordered the correct wine, but the lunch special is only for a smaller portion. After explaining what happened, they were somewhat difficult to reason with.
The manager came out and explained that they would honor the food portion of the deal but would charge us for the extra wine. He admitted that one waiter told us the wrong pizzas that were part of the deal. He made it sound like that was part of his compromise and we should be happy for him not charging more for that, even though it was the waiters fault completely.
It was very disappointing that they wouldn’t just honor the deal. We didn’t know that the lunch deal included less wine. It’s not like we were trying to get over on them.
Besides that disappointing situation, the food was amazing and we will be back.
Very loud, but very good. We had a terrific waitress, who recommended a lovely, reasonably priced wine.
the pizza here are inventive and beautifully prepared, as are the bright and flavorful appetizers.
The dough always has the right texture. The tomato sauce has a distinctive taste and the ingredients of all the dishes including salads and meatballs always are fresh.
It was a busy night but the service was extremely efficient. We didn't have to wait to be served drinks, and our food came surprisingly quickly. We hadn't been here before so asked for recommendations. The pizza's were very good, but I was disappointed in the squash flower appetizer. I had had this before at another restaurant but Mozza's were heavily deep-fried which masked the squash entirely and there was no dipping sauce. Seeing salads go by to other tables made me regret that I didn't order one instead.
The food and wine was delish! BUT, what made our dining experience 100% was the excellent service! Our waiter was perfect and his timing was spot on! Thanks!
I loved everything we ordered. Creative and delicious food!!! I never leave disappointed. Can’t wait to go back! Great wine selection, too!
Great food and exceptional service. We came from San Diego to attend events in LA over the weekend and would not think of skipping out on Pizzeria Mozza!
Wonderful food and service. Best Pizza I’ve had in Los Angeles hands down.
We had made a reservation a month in advance after watching cooking show and being foodies. We were from across the country and got turned around. I called to let them know. They wouldn’t hold our table. Sitting at the counter was fine since we got to watch preparations. Server was friendly. Great food. Rude maitre d’e.
Nice night out!xoxo
Everything and more I thought it was going to be. After a last minute cancellation for our reservation at Osteria Mozza, we managed to get a weekday 11pm reservation same day for pizzeria mozza. Of course, netflix’s Chefs table was my introduction to Nancy silverton’s empire and it was an amazing experience even at pizzeria mozza. The brick oven pizza and gelato were incredible!
Nosie level a little high but not overwhelming. Wine is pricey.. Great pizza!!!!!
Noisy but great food
Average food. Don’t trust Netflix documentary, same as milk bar.
The food was delicious, but the service was not good at all. There was too much noise, I could hardly hear my boyfriend shouting across the table
Service has trended down but first rate food
This was the second time I've been here with my husband, but first time for my mom and brother. We ordered 3 pizzas and 1 lasagna and EVERYTHING was just Delicious! I mean each pizza is sliced into 4 generous portions, but after eating 4 slices, I didn't feel too full. Their dough is just light and airy and the ingredients are top notch! We will definitely be back whenever we're in the neighborhood. You do have to make reservations though, unless they have empty chairs at the bar.
Personally, they have the best pizza in L.A. Will always be my favorite 🍕 There's always something new to try and never fails. I miss their tiramisu in their dessert menu, though, which for me and my husband is out of the ordinary 😋 More power to Chef Nancy Silverton 👍💪
One of my very favorite restaurants on earth because every bite of every meal has always been perfect. The service is professional and friendly. When friends visit from out of town, this is my first choice for a restaurant where I know we will have an exceptional experience.
I had high expedition and Nancy/her team blew me away. Can’t wait to return
Excellent combination of flavours. We loved the tomato bruschetta and we tasted two kinds of pizzas: one with mushrooms and fontina cheese and the other with anchovies ricotta cheese, fried basil and lemmon slices. PERFECT. we recomend it
Went to the Osteria next door for a pre dinner gin martini. The olives have pits ! How awful! I know it’s like a continental thing but stop it!
The pizza at pizzeria was ok. I’ve had much better st North End take out!
Here's the "meh" list: The host and hostess that greeted us were beyond snobbish. They both looked my boyfriend and me up and down before asking us if we had a reservation. When he led us to a table that was wedged between two other tables I asked if there was a table that wasn't such a "tight fit" and he looked at me as if I had asked him for his first born. He flatly said no and just stood there staring at me.
No on to the good list: AMAZING food. Just phenomenal. We're going to go back until we've tried everything on the menu! Our waiter was very good. It was obvious he was new to being a waiter as he still hadn't gotten his "sea legs". But we joked with him a lot and he finally seemed to relax. He was very attentive and had impeccable manners. The ambiance was simply cozy. The colors were warm and the pizza fire oven that was in plain sight gave the whole room a homey feeling. The noise level was VERY high. Definitely not someplace to go if I had a headache!
Overall, this restaurant is a rare find and I'm sorry that, as a native Los Angeleno, it's taken me so long to visit.
I've been here twice before LA events (Hollywood Bowl and the Wiltern) and everything I've ordered was spectacular. Highly recommend the chopped salad, goat cheese/lentils, bruschetta, and DESSERT.
We were I. The wine room. No noise - no people watching but very quiet
Second time back to Pizzeria Mozza. Very consistent and delicious food. Appreciated that there were reservations available.
First things first, the food was great. The Fried Squash Blossoms were awesome. Who would have thought those words would come out of this mouth. And...of course...the pizza was great. I had the Aglio-Olio...delicious.
The atmosphere was quietly energetic, with a touch of romance in the air. Not too loud, but not soo quiet that you feel everyone can hear your conversation.
I was there with a friend. Perfect place to talk and catch up. I will definitely go back. FYI, they have another location in Orange County.
