What Insiders Are Saying
No, Pizzeria Mozza is not the best pizza in LA. But that doesn’t mean it’s not still a good restaurant.
Outstanding as always! We sat in the Jack Warren room and it was great! A bit quieter than the main room.
First waiter took our drink and food order and wasn’t seen again. 15 minutes later Eddie jumped in and saved the experience. Was great service from then on. I wouldn’t order anything there but the pizza again.
Totally delicious, from the stuffed squash blossoms to the butterscotch budino. A little loud, but that’s because everyone was having such a good time. Great list of Italian wines as well.
Hands down one of my major obsessions. The food never disappoints - and it shows. The location is always full / booked to capacity and the meal executed perfectly.
It is VERY loud in there when all tables are full but if that is my only issue then ... outstanding.
I always bring out of town guests here. The pizza is hands down, the best I’ve ever had. On my recent visit I took my sister who was visiting from Utah. I ordered the cauliflower fritti as an appetizer, something I hadn’t tried before. It fell short of what I was expecting. Not much flavor, so I saved my appetite for the pizza which was, as always, delicious.
Outstanding place to drop in for a LATE NIGHT bite. Almost unheard of in LA. So glad the restaurant is open until midnight.
Very crowded. Hard to talk to partner with the close proximity to others. Quite loud. Food was fantastic. Our server disappeared for a little bit but was not a big deal. Thought our meal was worth about $50-60 but in reality it was over $80. But again the pizza was fantastic
great vibes, lovely food, good service. A perfect late lunch after an art day.
Always a good time at Pizzeria Mozza. The host was a bit off putting but the servers were good.
Wow, wow, wow! It was great, that’s all you need to know! One of the best pizzas I’ve ever had!
Fantastic food as always. Excellent service. Reliably top notch.
Great food. Space was a little cramped
Best meatballs I’ve ever had in my life hands down! Pizza was amazing as well!
Pizzeria Mozza is consistently great! Especially love the Tomato, Sicilian Oregano & extra Virgin Olive Olive Oil pizza. So delicious even without cheese. Personally I would enjoy more vegan options, or at least a non dairy milk for cappuccino or coffee. We are in LA after all. Thanks again for always being great!
We were 12 minutes late for the reservation on a rainy night. Front desk people were beyond arrogant. After 12 minutes they gave the table away and did not care. Oh sit at the bar they said. We did sit at the bar as we had theater tickets and were on a time restraint. The actual waiters were fantastic so please be aware that my issue was the two front desk morons. I know this restaurant will care less about this review they think they are immune to any turn down in business but I had to say my peace.
The food was great as usual. But I'm not into the "team" approach in terms of service. Everyone is responsible, but ultimately no one is. Our pizza took an inordinately long time to come out, and it didn't seem to be a real concern. We went early, so it was fairly quiet. But because there were not many patrons, it was obvious that parties seated after us were getting their pizzas before us. The "there's nothing to see here" vibe from the server was disingenuous.
But no matter what, this is a "must eat" venue.
Service was AMAZING - servers are very attentive and quick.
Food - Warm and fresh, not sure if the value of it is the best. Pizza was decent but super greasy!
Ambiance - I could barely hear myself think. The restaurant is so loud and the table are practically next to each other. It was a little uncomfortable sitting next to strangers and making awkward eye contact. May not be uncomfortable for others but it was definitely not my scene and made me anxious.
Great food & service in a nice setting. When you visit, you must order a dessert! So delicious!
Always our first spot to eat when we are in town
Super disappointing. Food: the fried squash blossom appetizers were over salted, and the taste of the squash absent from the dish. The white bean bruschetta was dominated by an overly onion-oil flavor, thus missing out on the beans (which are served blended, not whole, a big miss if you are thinking Fagioli). The bruschetta bread was quite good. The ingredients of Nancy's Chopped Salad were fresh and delicious in and of themselves; unfortunately, the chef massively over seasoned the salad with Italian herbs which so dominated the flavor of the salad so as to make it nearly unpalatable. Finally, the pizza -- going with the meat lover's variety, we found the crust to be very, very good, the meat products individualistically creative and flavorful, and the fresh mozzarella and sauce to be thoroughly up par. However, the pizza was far from mind blowing (and frankly, I had a fresh, hand made pizza to order 3 nights earlier at another restaurant which turned out to be superior). Service was subpar. All of our starters, and salad were brought to the table right away. We felt hurried (trying to turn over the tables rapidly perhaps?). Our appetizer plates were not changed for the pizza course, even though they were dripping with salad dressing, and our waitress was a no-show after placing our order, never once checking to see if the food was okay. The atmosphere was fine, nothing special. I would recommend ordering the Pizza from their take out shop around the corner, and skipping the rest of the courses. Overall, a big disappointment relative to hype and expectations.
The ambiance, service, and quality of food does not belie the price you’ll pay at Mozze. The wings were gummy and bland. The pizza is average. The crust is no different than places that charge far less. If you want masterful pizza go to Tony’s in San Francisco. The hype is not real here.
Great food - - the pizza crust is amazing. I'll definitely go back. Note that the noise level is high and it might be hard for larger groups to talk across the table.
The hostesses aren’t the kindest. She told us upfront we only have an hour and a half to dine and because one person in our party was 15 mins late, (it’s LA what do you expect?!) she was unforgiving and told us we only had about an hour and 10 mins to eat. We get they have to turn over tables quickly, but being scolded for being late and rushing the meal left us with a bad experience.
Best pizza in town hands down. I just love the Bianca pizza with fried sage. So delicious! The tri colore salad in anchovy dreassing is amazing. And then top it off with a butterscotch budino for dessert. Perfection.
literally one of the best restaurants in los angeles.
I never visit pizza mozza again.
Pizza was really great but reception was really terrible.
Pizza was good, ice cream was way to heavy and "too many eggs in it".
Lively (and noisy) and fabulous pizza! We had the pizza with lemon slices and red chili peppers; unique and extremely tasty.
My #1 stop when in LA.
Meatballs to die for and the desserts are always a showstopper.
As always, the food was excellent. Unfortunately, the restaurant was especially crowded, even for two New Yorkers. Our meal was marred by the drunk diners next to us screaming loudly for the duration of our meal.
The food and service were excellent, but we struggled with how many people they packed into the restaurant. Sitting against the wall, there was about an inch and a half of space between our table and the two on either side of us. At least when one table's wine spilled it didn't crash to the floor - it just spilled all over our table. With all those people it made the place very loud and it was difficult to hear who I was sitting with. So all the stars for the people there and the tasty pizzas, but incredibly loud and packed in like sardines.
We were in the smaller Wine Cellar room off the main Pizzeria space and it was very nice, much quieter and more relaxing than the main room. Not that there’s anything wrong with the ambiance in the main room, but sometimes you just want to kickback, relax, enjoy the food.
In my top three pizza places.
Leave room for dessert.
Rain was POURING outside. The door was locked until noon on the dot in spite of insufficient cover from the rain. Totally unsympathetic. The wait staff was efficient, helpful, and friendly. The food was interesting and satisfying. Desserts were complicated and didn’t appeal to me. My overall experience was positive because of the occasion, but not worth a return visit.
Tried PM again to see if we just missed their best previously - but this just confirmed our previous experience - decent salad, average pizza, and overpriced drinks. Service was very rushed also as they are always pushing to flip tables.
Would not dine here again.
Every single dish we have tasted Was beyond!!!! Starting with the wine selection, beer and appetizers the flavors kept becoming richer and more fantastic!!!
We love Pizza Mozza and this visit didn’t disappoint.. Always consistently delicious 😋
The hype is real. It's is amazing and it's not cheap. This also isn't Shakey's. Flavors are spot on. This was also standing room only the entire time we were there.
Food was delicious! Waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable. Looking forward to going back.
