What Insiders Are Saying
No, Pizzeria Mozza is not the best pizza in LA. But that doesn’t mean it’s not still a good restaurant.
I’ve been here many times over the years, but it had been a long while since I’d been back. I forgot how good it really is! Squash blossoms are STILL on the menu and so delicious. We had the Bianca and the Funghi pizzas and salad as well, all very tasty. As always, great wine selection and friendly, attentive service. Had a friend in town and this was the perfect spot to indulge in carbs and catch up. Always make a reservation though, even for a party of 2 on a weekday, they’re packed.
We had absolutely fantastic, outstanding service by the waiter/bartender. He went out of his way to make sure my party (including a well behaved and adorable 9 month old niece) fully enjoyed our meal. The lacking vegan options were delicious nonetheless. The trademark pizzas were simply fantastic. Overall, Pizzeria Mozza is a new go-to spot.
They're doing something right with their pizzas. No other pizza in Los Angeles!
We went to Pizzeria Mozza with our niece this week during a visit to LA. We are all pizza lovers and rather picky about it. The pizzas, prosciutto and fennel sausage ones, were both perfect - crust, toppings, all of it. We tried dessert as well and had a lovely experience overall. The staff is attentive and friendly. Will definitely be back!
Coconut pie is amazing and the pizza really good!
The meal was amazing! All the ingredients are fresh and full of flavour. Our server was very friendly and attentive. The wine selection was great, and affordable. Highly recommended! The ambiance was causal, but you could always make a reservation at the more upscale restaurant.
Finally, an LA restaurant that lives up to the hype - casual, friendly, reasonable, AMAZING pizza (etc). We sat in the back "wine" room which was much quieter than the front room. I loved seeing families with little kids, couples, friends, adult families all in one room. Great service, great food, great price.
We've dined at Pizzeria Mozza on multiple occasions with just two people and now up to 12 and each time the food has been great, the staff are awesome.
No wait service the first 15 minutes. Completely ignored. Service improved after complaint to host/mgr. Food always good.
Noise is out of control - the restaurant should address this. The pizza a bit less enticing this time, and LA has incredible new pizza options now.
Food was outstanding. Service too
The pizzas are outstanding. Top quality ingredients and lot of care .
If you want to impress a business partner, take them here! We sat in the wine cellar room...less noisy and great feel! Food is always amazing! Wonderful service. Perfect lunch!
Excellent as always. Great food and a buzzing ambience. Sommelier is always on point with wine selection.
Absolutely love dining at Pizzeria Mozza!
The pizzas were exceptional. The crust and the dough was cooked perfectly and the toppings were spectacular. also the fried cauliflower is very amazing. The mint aioli is one of a kind. Highly recommend this place.
It was okay - I'm glad we had a reservation. I guess after flying 5 hours we were a bit underdressed for the restaurant. But, everyone seemed to enjoy the pizza. My panini was just ok.
If you are more than 15 minutes late (we were 20 minutes late because of Pride weekend traffic) they will give up your table. We were coming in from the east coast and did not add the additional time for the unusual traffic. They said they would “try and seat us at some point.” They also suggested our party of three sit at the bar but when we found seats at the bar, they said they were reserved. I get there strict time policy but thought their customer service was more than poor and they clearly just wanted us to leave. We will not be going back...ever.
Pizzeria Mozza is delicious, clean, friendly environment, and an overall enjoyable experience. Highly recommend!!
The pizza was solid but not the best I've had (in that particular pizza style). The ingredients were super fresh and the crust was incredible. A couple of the pies could have used a bit more oomph. Next time I'd like to try the wine and some appetizers! And the service was incredible! That really made the experience. Would definitely recommend this place for a date or anniversary.
It was great, servers attentive and pleasant. Food was awesome, chopped salad and pizza crust is great.
We've dined here many times, starting just months after they opened. The quality of the food is consistent - always outstanding. One of the pizzas, with fennel sausage, was delicious but not as well seasoned as in the past. Same for Nancy's chopped salad. And we did notice, during this most recent visit, that prices had increased quite substantially, approximately 50% from the early days. I understand the necessity, but this is a bit much.
We took our daughter to celebrate last day of school. It’s a bit pricey, but honestly so good! I opted for 2 appetizers. The asparagus with speck and the Mozza caprese. So happy with my choices. I used my daughter’s pizza crust to scoop up my caprese and it was amazing (perfect crust). My husband had the tuna panini and he was also very happy with his choice. The wait staff were so attentive and kind. 2 thumbs up!
I’ve been here before and have eaten at Mozza Osteria. The food has been incredibly salty the last two times. All the dishes were over salted. Parking $14 dollars ?! Not coming back.
It's getting a little tired. The food is still excellent quality, but is beginning to feel somewhat by-the-numbers. The spark is dimming. The staff was alternately good and friendly, but there was something rushed and impersonal about the service as well. We ended up ordering 2 pizzas that were very similar because we mistook one for another style of pizza, and the waitress understood that the order was somewhat odd, but didn't make any suggestions that would have resulted in a more well rounded meal. They did offer to change out the pizza that was a bit redundant with the other pizza we ordered, but at that point, it was too much of a hassle. Had she gently made another suggestion at the time of ordering, we would have resulted in a better more well rounded meal. Still good, but feeling somewhat on autopilot.
Had not been back to Mozza in years, happy to report it's still amazing, the pizza was over the top delicious and loved the squash blossom appetizer! Only drawback the numerous servers were too orchestrated: the moment my wine glass was empty they were there to either take the glass or bring more. Typical restaurant stuff but REALLY felt like they wanted to move us along - which for me totally detracted from the overall great experience. I get it, it's a small place and they get booked up, but servers need to chill on this aspect a bit and not make it such a TEMP_OC_CONTENT_HERE#039;s game. Let's keep it real and about the fine food, ok?! Thanks!
Awesomeness. Everything was outstanding
Had been to Miss a a few years ago. The pizza was delicious and the Octopus salad was the amazing. Everything was impeccably.
Always an exceptional experience. Reminds me why I think I like pizza. Equally delicious were the squash blossoms, whole cauliflower and arugula salad and budino. Great selection of beers. Attentive service . Only drawback was I don't like the wine room ambience. It feels like Siberia.
Very good experience, food was excellent and service was very good. We were seated promptly with a reservation.
Slow service, food was less than average. Very crowded and noisy. Not sure why the hype for this place. Much better options in LA.
Delicious food. Great wine. Service was passable. We waited a very long time between the appetizer and the main course. Sort of killed the mood.
This was my third time at Pizzeria Mozza, but the most memorable, in a negative way. I’ve also been to Osteria Mozza next door and have always had a good experience. I went in around 1:30pm on a Sunday afternoon with my girlfriend. Although there were plenty of seats in the main dining room, we were sat in the very corner of the wine room. It wasn’t much of an issue, except i was going to be extra observant about our service because corner tables like that don’t get much attention. To summarize, our server was inattentive and inefficient, as she wouldn’t check up on our table when tending to parties surrounding our table. We ordered a bottle of wine, several appetizers and a pizza. Everything tasted just okay this time, except the octopus salad was disgustingly fishy and salty. Considering our lunch cost $140, we’re not returning for subpar food and service.
We went on a Saturday night, so I expected it to be very busy, which it was! Our waitress may have been spread a little too thin but still provided good service. The only issue we had was that our two pizzas took about 45 mins to get to us. The only reason I think it didn’t take longer was because we finally got a hold of our waitress and asked if there was a problem. Apparently the pizzas had to be refired for some reason. She brought us a couple beers on the house for the wait, which was really nice. I’ll definitely go back because the food is AMAZING!! I just might go on a weekday next time.
My friend raved about this place. We also saw the Chefs table with Nancy S. and it was really intriguing. Had to try this place. Got a sitter for the kiddo, it was totally worth it. We got the signature squash blossoms which were delicately fried and had a delicious ricotta? filling. Also had the prosciutto and buffalo mozzarella which was outstanding. It doesnt come with bread, so we ordered that on the side and it was all the difference. Amazing crunch and texture to the sourdough bread, with olive oil and garlic. Just fantastic. Lastly, we shared the meatball pizza which was again, fantastic. Top 3 pizzas ive ever had in my life (including Rome), and the meatball is one of the best things ive eaten period. The value is actually pretty good, despite a $10 12 ounce beer, total bill was $136 for the two of us. Awesome meal, will definitely be back.
We went to celebrate my daughter's birthday. The food was good. A little pricey for even upscale pizza, but it's LA. It was good, even though I do not like the communal dining feel personally. The odd thing was the staff. We had 3 separate waiters/ waitresses during the one hour we were there. They all told us they were "going on break". No one was friendly. They did bring a scoop of gelato to my daughter for her birthday but their unfriendliness made it weird.
Consistently great. There might be newer pizza places but this is still the best.
The food was outstanding. I highly recommend the meatball pizza, or any with marinara (fabulous). Traffic made us late for our reservation, but they understood and sat us immediately. Wait staff is friendly and knowledgeable (advised re portions, for menu selection). A bit pricey, but worth it!
Some of the best pizza in LA ... chopped salad was tasty and fresh but perhaps a little over dressed
