Excellent food and service. I was however, irritated by the 4% surcharge. Why hasn't this price increase been rolled into your most recent menu revision. Unfortunately the result was a reduced tip!

I love piatti, and I have been coming here for several years. One thing I noticed and I asked the host about, the pizza dough. It was way tastier and more fresh, this time it tasted like a ready made dough from a convenience store, not like the regular stuff they used to deliver. Hopefully it was just a one time mistake. Otherwise it’s my favorite place

The food was terrific. The restaurant is a lovely intimate location. Our server was handling two larger tables, and seemed to forget about me and my friend, which was disappointing

The setting near La Jolla Shores beach is superb. We went on a nice sunny day. Heaters and umbrellas were offered but we were happy with the sun and temperature. The brunch and lunch menus had something for everyone. We had a couple of special orders which were handled perfectly. We did not try any appetizers or deserts but had enough with just the brunch / salad offerings. Will go back again!

Delightful evening at a table for two on Piatti's patio under the giant, spreading ficus tree. Lovely cocktails and delicious homemade pasta entrees made for a perfect evening.

Well, that was disappointing all around. Got to the restaurant for the reservation time—LOTS of open tables (wanted the 5:30 slot but said there were no tables available—hmmm. Still many tables open even at 6). Didn’t like the first table they took us to and ask for a different one—was rudely moved. Then after waiting 15 minutes, a waiter introduces himself as our server and takes our drink orders. That was the last time he came to our table. Had a girl bring our drinks and take our food order. The food was just okay—I’ve eaten here dozens of times and this was by far, the worst. Not worth the priced paid for the meal ($160 for 2, with tip). We were both very disappointed and sad that a place we used to love, is not worth returning to….

It became loud, and super busy around 6:30. It made it hard to communicate at our little table for two. The tables are very close to one another. At that point, we didn’t see our sever often enough. Waited a while for our check.

Our table was ready on time, appetizers and, dinners were fresh and tasty...excellent bread and butter and 3 separate wine selections were successful. The waitress was great...very friendly, patient and accommodating and helped guide a few of the selections. The only course a bit wanting was the bread pudding dessert. It was dry.

Piatti has been one of our family's favorite restaurants since the location in Sacramento opened in the 1990's. (My husband was an opening server there) We still visit the Pavilions location at holiday time, and are sad not to be able to go to the Yountville location anymore, but come to the La Jolla restaurant for as many celebrations as we can justify. On this occasion, my boss was treating me to wherever I wanted to dine for my birthday. He had not been before, and was very impressed. Not only was the food up to its consistently delicious standards, but our service - both from the young woman at the hostess stand, and from our server, was A+. This will continue to be our celebration restaurant of choice.

Piatti’s has been a favorite for many years. It has always been great value for money- reasonable prices for a superior place. However, the cost is becoming much higher with a 4% surcharge, expensive drink prices, and an automatic 20% on a group of six, even for drinks at the bar.

We have been here on many visits to La Jolla in the last 20 years, and thought of it as one of our favourite spots, good enough for special events. But this time - to call it mediocre would be high praise. The bread was not cut, the oil and balsamic was 90% vinegar - and the server responded by bringing us a bottle of oil rather than a replacement, claiming that some of those who prep do these things. One pasta was grossly over salted - and when replaced, denuded of cheese and thus tasteless, in an amateurish attempt at a fix. The other was a lamb pasta special, drowning in watered down sauce, unremarkable in every way. Al dente?? Piatti, how can this be?

IT GIVES ME THE IMPRESION THAT OUR SERVER IS A STUDENT THAT NEEDS OR WHANTS TO ERN EXTRA MOPNEY BUT ITS JUST A MEENS TO GET BY AND HAS NO INTENTION OF GIVING US A GREAT EXPERIENCE. AND ITS ONLY OUR IMPRESION OF THE SERVICE WE GOT. WE FORGOT A BACK PACK AND SUN GLASSES AND SHE WAS KIND TO GO OUT TO THE STREET AND SHOUT THAT WE FORGOT THE ITEMS. Piatti always delivers! Celebrated a magnificent anniversary dinner there. Was a bit too packed inside and they kindly moved us outside about 15 minutes in. Food and wine were excellent. Tiramisu didn’t let us down. A great evening in general!

Great dining experience! Started w hostess who graciously accommodated our Open Table note for requested preferred courtyard seating. Service was attentive & timely. Food-starting w iconic bread and dipping sauce, then pizza perfect (sausage) from veal piccata with those yummy risotto cakes to the memorable homemade pasta choices, main courses great. Then the almond cake! Yum! A go back for sure! Thx again. Piatti does not disappoint EVER!!

Very inflexible on modifications; made it more difficult for a person that had specific dietary restrictions; zero compassion it was all about dollars and cents. But when the check came it was a 5% surcharge plus the tip was already set at 22% with the waiter hovering. It’s ridiculous when they are petty with the customers and demanding with their tips. This is why I believe the service was poor.

Piatti consistently provides great flavors and a large variety of choice. It is unfortunate that bread and their famous garlic dip is now a substantial cost but I can see the necessity as I could make a meal out of that alone. Maybe providing the first loaf and dip be included and extra there be a charge for. Some of the pricing seemed a bit high but the ambiance and servers were fabulous. Our meals were great and pricing, not that bad. Right in line with La Jolla.

I have really tried to like this restaurant. Last night my pasta was lukewarm and the risotto was a rice bowl, we had to send it back. Service was slow too.
