Great ambience; convenient location.
I travel to New Orleans on a regular basis. I think the Palace Cafe is one of the best restaurants in town. Their food is good without all of the overdone fuss found in more expensive places. The rum bar has its own appeal and the staff are top notch.
Great service, super small portions
My wife and I ate at Palace Cafe on a Saturday night and had a reservation which was necessary because it was packed. This is a large restaurant on 2 floors with a grand staircase. It was very loud with several large parties and a lot of activity at the bar until 8 pm. The food was excellent and the staff was attentive despite the crowd. They also had a private party of 55 on the third floor which consumed much of the kitchen resources. This slowed the service which we didn't mind as we enjoy lingering over dinner. However, the noise and activity are more suited for younger patrons who want a party atmosphere. This is not a good place for a romantic date for two which is more to our taste.
We have been here before and will be back again. We love this restaurant and can't wait to bring family and friends here!
One our favorite places for ambiance, great drinks, location, true classic creole & cajun food for the past 20+ yrs.
Just a great night, service food everything was excellent!
We went for a celebratory cocktail and light dinner and loved it so much we went back the next day for a cocktail before a prescheduled dinner elsewhere. We went to the upstairs bar, and Everything and everyone was great!
The staff was attentive and courteous. The recommendations made were excellent. I enjoyed the food and ambience. I will return on my next trip to New Orleans.
Brilliant meal and great service. An excellent evening.?
We enjoyed our meal. The food was quite good except for the desert. The white chocolate bread pudding was not as good as we had hoped it would be though. The noise level was high. Overall, it was good experience.
Although this place was a bit too bright and loud (and touristy), the service was great and the food was really good. To start we had the formage cheese tray. My wife ordered a steak, and I had the bouillabaisse for dinner. All very good. The rum cocktails were just what we needed after a day of traveling. Honestly, when we walked in, I thought we would hate this place...but reservations in New Orleans are hard to get, so we stayed. Very glad we did.
Our servers Josephine and Claire were awesome. Our water was continuously refilled. Our food was delicious and when we weren't sure of something, they had a recommendation for us. Thank you for helping make our trip to NOLA and anniversary AMAZING!!
Great food for breakfast. Wife said grits we're the best ever so ceamy. Service was a little slow at first. Took about 10 min after being seated before waitress acknowledged our presence. From then on coffee and juices were refilled quickly.
The Valentines Day dinner at the Palace Café was excellent on all levels. The craft cocktail of the month was spectacular! The food was amazing, especially the Crab Cheesecake. The atmosphere is true New Orleans. There is outside bistro seating with a view of the charming old buildings along Canal Street. We will dine there again for sure!
Great location in the iconic Werlein's Music building on Canal. Excellent atmosphere in a wide open, turn of the century style. Parking at the New Orleans Marriot was very close and covered by the Palace. Service was ample but a few snafu's. Wine was VERY expensive and I'll limit myself to ine glass next time. $12/ 5 oz.glass for bar wine is way too high. The food was very good and in good portions. Some tasty new twists abd choices. Overall, a good experience and we'll go back, especially during the late afternoon. Recommend - sure.
The food was just so so but the service was terrible. We were not checked on once our meals arrived and our check was promptly delivered without offering dessert or after dinner coffee or dessert. Most bizzare dining experience I have had on my frequent business travels.
The place was nice. The food was very good but the portions were a little small on the fish that I ordered. The servers were very friendly and attentive. They took care of our every need in a timely fashion. The only disappointment was that they didn't seem to have a crumb scrapper to scrape the crumbs from the table. I had to use the menu. The Banana's Forster is served table side. It's not only delicious but a very impressive presentation.
We had a great experience throughout. My hubby had the boudin encrusted fish, and I had the Ribeye. Both cooked to perfection! Service was great, and it wasn't THAT expensive! We will go again!!
