I was truly amazed at the extra precautions that were taken during this pandemic. From the menus to the silverware, as well as the hosts and hostesses...every detail was thoroughly thought out to ensure the health of all. The food was superb and the menu was plentiful! Congratulations on rising to the occasion while continuing the outstanding experience in dining we expect in New Orleans!

This was our first time eating out since....sometime in March. Quarantine and all. The experience was definitely different, but we had a great time. Everyone is putting effort into adapting to the new conditions. For instance, the menu was one page and placed on the table. So I didn't even have to touch it. Tables were pretty far apart. Silverware and napkins were brought in plastic wrap. But our server was very pleasant, the food was as good as usual (I've really missed the crabmeat cheesecake), and I've always loved the building. Note: there are tables outside, but you have to watch out for the heat.

First let me say that one of my fave places
To eat in NoLA is the Palace Cafe. Unfortunately this experience was less than acceptable. To celebrate the birthday of the restaurant they were offering a pre fix menu. However due to either server ineptitude or deception by the restaurant the menu wasn’t honored.
Food was awesome. Service was lacking. Server was disingenuousness and deceptive
Pre Fix menu was not honored. More issues including when. We asked for desert as past of the pre fix price the server informed us that the menu was not correct and in face dessert was an extra $4 charge even though it was listed as one of 3 items and included in the set price. Server apologized and admitted the menu was deceptive. Definitely not up to the Brennan standards. It was as if the restaurant was under new under par management. Please say it isn’t so. I really want to go back and resume the pleasant experiences I’m expecting.

I have been a loyal Palace client for many years for business lunches. No more.

Service has gone down hill. It’s a beautiful restaurant with wonderful food in great central location but service is everything! Today’s waitstaff pales to Applebee’s.

To top it off, the manager was trying to help out today in a unprofessional frenzy and dropped a bowl of ketchup that splattered all over me. I was covered in ketchup from head to toe. Mistakes happen and I get that. But what matters is how they are made right. That was the fail and why I will not be back.

A wonderful place to dine, my wife and I have eaten there probably 3 -4 times, not sure, but it's on our list every time we go to New Orleans. I hate to share reviews on this place, because then everyone will want to go there and it will be crowded. I have never had any bad food or service! They treat you like you have been there many times. The servers are very attentive to your needs.

Absolutely love Palace Cafe - great location (though parking can be a challenge) and the food is outstanding. We just went for dessert and had the creme brulee and (of course) the bananas foster (prepared tableside).

Great setting. Great food. Great service. Andoiulle crusted fish was awesome, and the tableside bananas foster may seem cliche but was a fun way to end our meal.

I made the reservation for Palace Cafe on OpenTable just a few minutes before I arrived. There were numerous available time slots available. I received an email confirmation of my reservation. When I got there, the hostess informed me that they did not honor reservations that close to arrival time and they did not have an free tables. When I explained that I had a confirmation they went into an explanation how OpenTable is a third party app and they have no control over it. They indicated they had plans to do something different. They were rude and unaccommodating. They should be dropped from the app. Interestingly, I have eaten at the location numerous times and have recommended it to many others as one of my favorite places in New Orleans.

The crawfish cheesecake was amazing. It was very rich and your really only need a bite if you are ordering a full meal. We had the stuffed porkchop which was a large portion and very good.

A planned trip had to be cancelled so we wanted somewhere good to make up for it at short notice and were surprised that we could get a table so easily. The food was different to us (as we are from the UK) and we loved it. I was especially impressed with the turkey soup and my friend’s filet mignon was super.

The wine list wasn’t overly extensive but we were able to find a bottle that we thoroughly enjoyed.

For the quality of food and service, I felt that the price was reasonable. Definitely recommended.

There was so much to choose from on the menu. The catfish was excellent, and the piece of fish was substantial. I had never had crayfish so I ordered some just to try, the crayfish was excellent! Our waiter was very knowledgeable and excellent. We had banana’s foster for dessert.

I don’t think it’s just Cafe Palace but the whole New Orleans is losing its history. When we were walking in, we had a few drug dealers outside the entrance asking us if we wanted some coke or ecstasy. I hate having to walk around with my hands always on my wallet and phone.

We walked up to the bar upstairs and walked on the Manager yelling at the entire waitstaff which we felt very uncomfortable. Once the wait staff left, they tried to have a good spirit but they were looking beaten down.

We always came to New Orleans for the food a particularly Cafe Palace but we don’t think we want to come back anymore. It’s very sad

Palace Cafe was a lively dining location but our upstairs table was a more quiet setting perfect for the outstanding meal my wife and I enjoyed. The banana fosters dessert served the table next to us was "to die for". I strayed from my enjoyment of local fare and enjoyed the Palace Burger and frittes, better known as french fries. This proved an excellent choice. Seafood gumbo in advance hit the spot perfectly. A shrimp creole offering was enjoyed by my wife. We heartily recommend Palace Cafe" !

Food was good. Service was pathetic. Took over an hour to get our food because the original order was apparently sent to another table and had to be resubmitted. Got the manager involved with little impact. No offer to comp us on anything for the inconvenience. Won’t be going back there in a town with many good places to eat.

The young man who was our host was excellent. He was very friendly and accommodated our request to sit by the windows on the beautiful second floor so that we could dine while overlooking Canal St. The restaurant was decorated for Mardi Gras which added to the ambiance along with the center stair case. Our waiter and waitress were prompt to take our orders and keep our drink glasses filled. The crab cheesecake appetizer was unique and delicious with the buttery meunière sauce. The cup of turtle soup had layers of flavors and married well with the added swirl of sherry. Our entrees included the pan roasted chicken breast and andouille crusted fish. Both were delicious but the fish was the better of the two. It was tender and had a light sauce with hints of hot sauce and garlic accompanied by grilled vegetables. The highlight was of course the bananas foster which gets lots of attention as it is cooked table side and set on fire to burn off the alcohol. A truly outstanding and impressive part of the meal that is a New Orleans visit must. As a plus, Palace Cafe is a convenient walk to the Saenger Theater.

The craft cocktails are really good, and the pours are generous. The appetizers we ordered, shrimp, crab cheesecake and gumbo, were all fine (although the "crab cheesecake" was way more of a crab quiche, very light with a flaky crust) . We had to wait more than 45 minutes for our entrees, and the restaurant wasn't more than half full. The duck was undercooked, and the chicken was average, both came with cafeteria mashed potatoes, the duck's salad wilted on top of the mashed potatoes, not good at all... we then ordered a Sailor's coffee, and it was NOT what was described on the menu, it didn't have the amaretto, nor the whipped cream. Service was fine, nothing spectacular, and the server apologized several times for the wait, saying the duck took a longer time, ironic since it was underdone, lol! Overall, there are WAY better places to eat in NOLA, and we won't waste our time and money here again.
