   Food came really quickly and the server was nice. The food was decent but did not wow us. It was a very quiet restaurant for a Sunday lunch.

   Impromptu Thursday dinner at Paesan. Seemed to be a few walk-ins, which were well accommodated. Service was attentive and friendly, but at one stage it got very busy & loud - think our timing was a bit too good, in that everyone wanted to pay at the same time so it took a while! Decent meal though - c£50pp with a cocktail/wine each.

   A bit disappointed with Paesan. We were there early on a Sunday evening so very quiet indeed but that didn't bother us. The waiter was pleasant and rustic decor was pleasing but the food was a bit lack lustre. Our linguine with swordfish was a little bland. The waiter recommended the mini doughnuts for dessert and they were tasty but the fruits of the forest on the panna cotta we just a few tinned strawberries. It was a bit more expensive than I expected but then we did have quite an expensive bottle of wine.

   This is a nice place with decent quality food but the dishes were so overpriced. Lunch for £45 plus service for tap water, 2x pasta dishes and one side of arancini balls

   First time at this little Italian but worth a revisit. The menu is short but still difficult to make a choice. The orecchiette with Italian sausage was delicious as was the home made ravioli. Prosecco was served in a old fashioned coupe glass so felt special. It’s at the busy, unglamorous road end of Exmouth market so more of an effort needed to get there however it’s worth it.

   The 'recommend Paesan to a friend' comes with a few caveats. The corner location means plenty of natural light and the rustic-Italian interior with an open kitchen gives good vibes. The food, for the most part, was good-very good (there was a problem with the squid, and the focaccia was not evenly warm - still cold base, but warm top). However, the other dishes were fine. The service was enthusiastic and helpful, but there could be a better attention to detail, as per the focaccia above and, although there were very few people in at our early pre-show dinner, some of our dishes sat plated up for some time before being ferried to us. With these details fixed it would be easy to recommend Paesan.

   Let’s start with the good stuff : food was very good. The rest was a total mess. Front and back of house clearly overwhelmed by a busy Friday night. Seeing this place is always full, not sure what went totally wrong. 3 hours to get through a very very noisy dinner. The waiter did what he could, poor lad. No managers in sight. Toilets filthy...,should I go on. And when we complained the service charge was waived...laughable...and not the waiter’s fault. Perhaps you should follow Jamie’s Italian. Not coming back sadly.

    Incredible food, atmosphere and impeccable service. They didn’t have Tiramisu on the day as they had a busy night the day before. However the waiter made it happen. Amazing.
