Oxlot 9
Named after the Historic Covington, Louisiana Ox-lots, Oxlot 9 is an upscale southern bistro located on the ground floor of the Southern Hotel. Oxlot 9 has a simple yet sophisticated approach to seasonal ingredients found in the region served in a lively and comfortable setting. It is a place that reflects the character of a 200 year old city in every detail of its soul, from the welcome of the hostess to the last drink brought to the table by your server. It is a restaurant inspired by the beauty of the people, the gulf coast, and the heritage of the South.
We had a double date here and couldn't have asked for a better experience. We shared 7 of the small plates & starters. Everything was fantastic, especially the 1/2 & 1/2 charcuterie board and the tamale. We shared 2 entrees and a few desserts. The duck entree and the campfire dessert shouldn't be missed. Service was outstanding. This is our favorite restaurant on the Northshore. We'll be back.
Throughly enjoyed food and service.
Christmas celebration
BEST meal on the north shore. They hit it out the park. The room was very loud, but with food like that, who cares? Haha.
Delicious oysters and the best crab cake I have ever had!!
The food was absolutely delicious but the portions are small. Our server, Gavin was fabulous. He made us feel like we were the only ones in the restaurant.
Always lively. Always fantastic. Chef Jeff and his staff do a great job. Love Oxlot 9.
Great atmosphere, the service was amazing, and the filet mignon with the hollandais, screaming oaks mushrooms Marchand de vin, broccolini with potatoes was cooked to perfection!
Definitely in my top 5 favorite meals list! Thank you for a wonderful birthday meal!
Small plates are the way to go! Everything was delicious!
This was most of my groups first visit to Oxlot 9 and it did not disappoint! We all ordered an appetizer and small plate. We were so full at the end of our meal. The crab cake was FULL of crab and top notch. We also enjoyed the tamale & scallops. The Fall Spritz cocktail was so refreshing. I will be back & will recommend Oxlot to all my family & friends.
Great food. Excellent service. Beautiful hotel building.
I had the blackened tuna and it was melt in your mouth.
The charcuterie board was mouthwatering.
We entertained clients at Oxlot9 for dinner and had a wonderful experience! The waiters were very attentive and the food was excellent! Highly recommend!
The Good: Brussel sprouts were wonderful! Very good service and a delicious wine recommendation. The Bad: Five different small plates were ordered... the 2 salads were good, Lobster Ravioli was extremely salty, Carbonara was salty and a little pasty, Tuna was tasteless.
We won’t return for dinner, but their brunch is delicious.
Outstanding service and best meal ever.
Our server - I think his name was Michael - was excellent. Also, the other servers quickly filled up my water glass, which I appreciate as I am a big water-drinker! Our empty plates were quickly removed, another PLUS! Michael's answers on questions we had about food choices was very helpful, and we agreed with him on those choices! It was a lovely evening, all in all.
Date night for my wife and me. Gave Oxlot 9 a try and we were not disappointed. Our server, Michael was great and did not rush us through dinner. Seared amberjack for me and pecan crusted flounder for my wife. Both meals were really good. The chocolate dome dessert was a great finish!
The food was fabulous. However, we went for lunch, and the food took so long to get to us, we had to take it to go. Too slow if you're on your work lunch. But, service overall, food, and ambiance was awesome. I'll go back when I have more time.
Anniversary
Our dining experience was top-notch, from the sweet hostess who handled a special request when we arrived to the special touch from our server Stephanie of ensuring that we had wine glasses for the extra bottle that we purchased to take back to our room and everything in-between. The food was magnificent and the service was attentive, without being bothersome, and our server was knowledgeable, answering all of our questions and helping us with a few suggestions that were spot-on. The restaurant had a steady flow of business, but all of our needs felt like a priority and we appreciate that. Thank you for a wonderful anniversary experience. We will definitely be back.
Tha Zombie was off the chain!
Great place to go!
Anniversary
Our server was having a bad day and certainly made it known to us. He was irritable and obviously did us a favor each and every time we had a question or request. Food was excellent though.
I out three for loud because I ate outside so it was right by the Main Street. Not their fault. Not sure how it is inside. Our waiter was exceptional!
Loved sitting outside. Excellent server.
1st time here with family...food was exceptional for this special occasion, service was done well. A few family members were a little uneasy to go, and when they saw no masks being used by chefs and waitstaff, they were a bit uncomfortable. All in all, a very nice experience, and creative tasty menu. Will certainly return!
Great place for a Thursday night date.
Couldn't get over the $5 old-fashion. My date ordered a blueberry and vodka concoction that comes out in a mason jar.
I ordered half dozen grilled oysters for an app and the mussels for man course. My wife had the brussels as an app and the tuna tartare.
Great everything.
Wonderful creative food
Excellent dining experience, the food was delicious
Everything was fabulous!
Everything about our date night was fabulous. We can’t wait to go back!
Couldn’t get a reservation for 5 people through Open Table (no, 9pm won’t work). Couldn’t even call because they don’t open until 5pm
Loved the food and service. Acoustics uncomfortable, too loud, but we would still go back.
The reservation was at 12:30 pm. We were shuttled to a bar to wait. We were not seated until about 1:10. Then only after I went back to the waiter to ask if they had forgotten about my party of 2. The wait of 40 minutes to be deated despite having a confirmed reservation is unacceptable.
The noise level was so high I could not hear my companion. The music which is mediocre just makes it even louder
My tacos were okay . They did come as requested without bronzing spice but the fish was overcooked . Two weeks ago they were great.
Corey ‘s service was first rate as usual
Excellent food and service for Valentines day. My wife and I enjoyed the meal and our server was very attentive. Will definitely be back again.
Great restaurant. Varied menu with many appetizer and small plate choices. Good drinks. We had the caipirinha cocktail , and lettuce wrapped pork belly to start from the happy hour menu. We dined on stuffed quail, royal red shrimp and a pasta dish which were small plates but were good sized portions. The quail was outstanding. Prices are very reasonable. We will come back on our next trip here.
We visited for the first time last week and the food and service were great. Only issue was loud group next to us. Maybe rearrange seating to give more space to individual tables or add some soundproofing. We will be back.
We celebrated my wife’s birthday again this year at OxLot 9. The food was great and the service was really good. We were a party of 8 and I honestly can’t report a single thing that I think could have been better that evening. I recommend this restaurant.
We usually always eat at Ox Lot 9 so we can walk to the restaurant from our room.
It’s always very good!
