I had the carbonara in a jar and it was amazing! My daughter had the bolognese with a gluten free pasta, also amazing. The flourless torte was so decadent. Our server was very informative and helpful. I will definitely be eating here again.
Great service, size of the plates are more on the gourmet side. You can't go wrong with the octopus, lamb and gnocchi.
Excellent food, although portions are extremely small and overpriced. Nice place to visit once, but not likely to go back considering price.
Will definitely be going back. Menu has a great variety and so many things that I wanted to try. Visit was on St. Paddy’s day weekend so vibe was a little different than I would expect on normal evening and took away something from the ambiance. Server was knowledgeable and attentive. Great addition to Tampa food scene!
We waddled away fat and happy!! Brittani was hilarious and attentive.
The food was great, however, when I first arrived for my 6:30 reservation the hostess felt the need to tell me my table was also reserved for an 8:30 party. Not very welcoming. Everything else was great and I was out by 7:20 for that other party 😒
Food was good. Service was also good.
It was unusual the seating plan. I was facing a huge wall not the middle of the restaurant
My wife had a macaroni dish that wasn't served with bread... needed to ask the server for bread??
Some extra paper napkins would have been nice.
Lunch menu needs to be bigger
Looked like alot of the staff was on the side of the restaurant taking up valuable seating.
Excellent food and service. Highly recommend
Brunch with an old friend, got to sit outside and enjoy the weather while having tasty mimosas and grub!
Great food and drinks, great service and coupon for free appetizer came in handy
Dinner was absolutely DELICIOUS!!! We shared the burrata with roasted cherry tomatoes, chicken Marsala, eggplant parmesan and pasta with Bolognese sauce. The flavors were fresh from Italy!! The server was excellent! Finally a new hot and hip authentic Italian restaurant in Tampa!! Looking forward to our next visit!!
I give Osteria 5 stars, but we did experience 1 flaw.
*EDIT- unfortunately I have to change my star count for food to 3 stars as my husband has been sick for 3 days from the chicken.
-Really cool modern decor & design of restaurant.
-Friendly staff at the door.
-Two menus available; the regular menu and gluten free menu. In my OpenTable profile I have Gluten Free mentioned as a dietary preference and Osteria has been the only restaurant so far that has taken this into consideration.
-Our server was friendly and came to check on us at the right times.
-The manager also came to our table and introduced herself and made sure that we were being taken care of.
-Burrata appetizer was seasoned and balanced well. The orange tomatoes on top were the best I’ve ever had.
-The Branzino entree was cooked perfectly. Crispy skin and flaky, moist inside. No bones. It was stuffed with thyme and lemon and served with zucchini on the side.
-Pinot Grigio was very good with our meal.
-The other entree we ordered was the half chicken and unfortunately it was a bit underdone. We had to send it back to be cooked more which took an extra 10 minutes.
When it came out the second time it looked much better and was crispier on the outside too. It tasted really great with the cream sauce on the plate and was served with potatoes.
The manager handled the situation well and apologized for the mistake. Our server was friendly but not knowledgeable as when we showed her the bloody chicken she didn’t think it was undercooked.
It’s a pity but I don’t think we’ll be returning.
Photos shown are the Branzino and Chicken (before we went it back).
Amazing. Service and food quality was more than I expected
At this price level, I expect perfection. The fresh pasta was excellent. The chioppino was terrible.
The fresh pasta was amazing. The service was outstanding. Our server was attentive and gave great recommendations. Had the elderflower mule and it was delicious.
Amazing, can’t wait to go back!
Staff was good. Table next to us got bread, but we didn’t. Gnocchi was too wet and slimy- but we still ate the tasty dish. Deep fried pork chop was too dry- although she warned us, I still wanted to try that ‘Milanese’. Well, not a drop of moisture and she admittedly told me none comes with it? I requested a side of lemon / White Wine butter sauce and it was perfect. Manager was nice to come over without our request and she asked for details and appreciated the feedback. Comped 2 drinks. We would go back- just not during sundown as the glare was terrible at every table (from about 5:00-7:00 now with DST)
Our first visit, this was a perfect location for our pre-show dinner. We shared the delicious Med Salad...the crispy artichoke was a nice surprise. My pappardelle pasta was cooked to perfection and combined with a short-rib ragu was amazing. Where have you been all my life?
Great and fast service which was important because we were going to the theater after dinner
Great food. Very cool place to dine.
Food was excellent, service was not stellar, but acceptable. Definitely a low rumble in the dining space as it is wide open and close quarters. One of the best dining experiences in Tampa!
First time dining at Osteria. We ordered their octopus app, the rigatoni in a jar and squid ink entrees. We were underwhelmed. They didn’t taste bad but they weren’t “Top Chef” quality. Our server was great but it did take about 10min before he came to our table to ask what type of water we wanted. The tables are too close together or there are too many tables - definitely not enough space for the server and bus people to walk around. While our orders were never wrong and brought to our table we did witness the table next to us wait a long time for pizza and they had been there a long time already. We also witnessed about 5 orders go to the wrong tables (different sections too). Maybe in time it will get better. Will try again but not anytime soon.
First off - service is wonderful. We had Harrison as our server and he was beyond attentive with a fantastic personality.
We had the $21 misto appetizer. It was very tasty but very expensive. Apps shouldn’t cost the same as a meal. My rigatoni in a jar was amazing, we loved it. My husbands lamb wasn’t very tender tho. It came highly recommended for one of the most expensive items and mine was ten times better.
One app, two dinners, one bottle of wine and dessert was $200 which I think is over priced. Food in Italy is amazing and a quarter of the price. There is no reason rustic food should be that much. We sat outside which is nice but inside decor left a lot to be desired.
Wonderful service! Our waiter/ waitstaff attentive and answered questions and made suggestions for vegetarian/ vegan substations, caution few options for vegetarian/ vegan 🌱! Brunch, review: Food was very good, eggs slightly over cooked, no bread at table asked but told only on dinner menu, only request only. I can’t wait to see the kinks worked out! Bravo
Loved food and service but a bit skimpy with portion size for the price. Lots of comparable Italian restaurants in South Tampa 🍷
We met friends for lunch and had a wonderful experience. The decor is lovely, our waiter was knowledgeable and very helpful with food selections. The food was wonderful. Each person at our table had a different pasta and everyone loved their meal. I would come back many times
This was my second visit to Osteria. Once again amazing food and great service. I would say the only issue is parking. My first visit had Valet, this time it did not.
We went for brunch! The food was AMAZING! We will definitely be back!
Our meal was absolutely fantastic, our waiter was exceptional, and the restaurant itself is beautiful. However, it is incredibly loud. There is no reason to play music that loudly when attempting to enjoy a fine dining experience. If I am paying that much for an entree, with a $55 bottle of wine, I do not want to have to shout to be heard by my partner.
Had been really excited to try this place for awhile. Was so disappointed in the food. The portion size was good but was underwhelmed by the taste. We started with the burrata and it was average. I had the pork chop for dinner and it was massive but it was nothing more than I deep fried pork chop with tomatoes, arugula and a few capers and pickled onions. My boyfriend had the short rib which he said wasn’t bad but it was swimming in butter and was so greasy. We had a side of mashed potatoes and they were good. Our sever Harrison was fantastic and was well versed in making a great wine selection. Disappointed overall for the price and flavors and won’t be back.
Absolutely love this place! This was our third time here, we have always have such a great experience and the food is incredible!
We went for lunch before Hamilton matinee on a Saturday. It was not overly busy but we had a reservation and seated right away. Our waiter, John, was very helpful with recommendations and very attentive. I had the Rigatoni Cacio E Pepe and added chicken as server recommended. My husband ordered Pepperoni Pizza. My rigatoni was delicious, al dente with the right amount of sauce. The chicken was an excellent addition, moist and tender. The pizza was good, but did not compare with the rigatoni. The prices seemed reasonable and the portions were ample. The service was excellent and very timely. The decor was nice and it was not noisy at that time. We will go back to try the rigatoni bolognese that our server also recommended!
Great downtown spot. Ate here before theater. Very convenient. Wonderful food and outstanding service.
Terrific food with very efficient service in a fun atmosphere. Not our first time dining there, ad always an enjoyable experience in a good downtown location. Always good!!!!
Osteria is definitely an acquired taste. Overpriced for small apps & Cocktails.
I must say that the experience was beyond our expectations. Manny and his entire staff made our visit memorable to say the least. Our service was 5 star, appetizer, drinks, entrees and dessert was spectacular. Thank you for providing top notch service that parallels 5 star restaurants in Miami and NYC. If you haven’t been here, you don’t know what you are missing. We look forward to coming back.
We had dinner before a show at the Straz. We chose this restaurant because it's within walking distance to the theater. We were NOT disappointed. In fact, pleasantly surprised. The manager even stopped by our table and assured us that they would take care of us and get us to the show on time. Nice touch! But we had plenty of time. All four of us had a delicious entrée with salad. Everything was fresh and oh-so-delicious! Make a reservation, give yourself time to linger over the great food, you'll be glad you did.
Great atmosphere and nice addition to the growing downtown restaurant scene. Really good food and cocktails. Will be back.
This was our first time at Osteria and we went before going to see Hamilton. When we first arrived there wasn’t a table available for our reservation which was unacceptable since we had a reservation and had to be somewhere immediately following dinner. When they found a place for us, the food was good and the service was good until the end. After we finished our meal the waiter came to clear our plates and ask about coffee and dessert but was interrupted by another table and immediately turned around to take care of them and didn’t come back for 5+ minutes and just brought us our check. I don’t think we’ll be back.
Would have given a higher rating if we were able to make some changes to certain menu items.
