The food was wonderful. Except for the roast duck which was over salted and nothing special compared to the pastas and first dishes like the mussels and Brussel sprouts and mozzarella. They were divine. The service was friendly but not highly attentive. The room , the back room was perfectly comfortable and inviting. There was no commotion as there might have been up front . I had a really nice evening. The prices are high for me. It was 300 $ for 3 of us to eat. Obviously there were lots of people there on a Tuesday night who thought nothing of it. I would go back, on an occasion.

VERY GOOD: Grilled octopus, burrata with bacon, Ricotta & egg raviolo, Lamb with root vegetable puree, Rosemary olive oil cakes with olive oil gelato (octopus, raviolo and gelato were our favorites)

O.K.: Mozzarella tasting, Gnocco frito, gnocchi with duck ragu, Tagliatelle with oxtail ragu (underwhelming)

NOT GOOD: Complimentaey bread (served cold, dry and tough), Grilled steak tagliata (edges extremelytough, almost inedible), Torta della none (too dry, tasteless) (would never order again)

Atmosphere was nice, and service was good. But nothing spectacular. I would go back for some more grilled octopus and raviolo with ricotta and egg.

Very expensive, but the really good dishes are worth it.

I cannot express to the whole team at Osteria Monza how overwhelmed I am at their attention to detail and their overwhelming hospitality. From our greeting at the hostess station, to the impeccable Gimlet and conversation we had with the bartender. From our server Pat who made excellent recommendations, to our sommelier whom we trusted to pick us an excellent and affordable red, and of course the dedicated and talented kitchen crew, we were blown away by the flavors and pairings and techniques and presentations of the many many delicious dishes we were offered. The Gnocchi pillows with proscuito, the orecchiette with ox tail ragu and the quail were special hits with our table. Even the gentleman who was maintaining the line at the restroom when the women's was out of commission was pleasant and welcoming. It was a true delight to edit and showcase the food served by Chef Liz on "Masterchef Season 10", but it was a true honor to be served by such exceptional professionals on every level and I cannot thank Osteria Mozza enough for their generosity! -Molly

We do not typically eat at really nice restaurants like this, so for us it is a special occasion. It seemed like it took a longer than normal time for us to get menus and drinks after we sat down. But once the service got rolling, it was very good. There is a time lag between courses, but that was good. It allows you to digest a bit. For appetizers we had the octopus (excellent) and the dates with speck (good, but too sweet for some and also somewhat greasy. This would obviously be to be expected, I just wouldn't order it again.) For pastas, we were given a little guidance by the waiter, but not as much as we had hoped. We three shared the orrecchiette with sausage, the tagliatelle oxtail ragu, and the raviolone with ricotta and egg. All were each excellent but together they were very heavy. The portions are indeed small here, but the food is very rich. For secondi we ordered the quail and the sea trout. Both were excellent and beautifully presented, but by then we were full from the pastas. (We were not sure what "sea trout" would be, and I would describe it as similar to salmon.) There was a steady supply of different delicious breads to try during the meal.
We did end up getting 2 desserts, the apple borsellino (very good) and the espresso semifreddo (very chocolaty but not too sweet, I enjoyed it.) Somehow we were not in the mood for the popular dessert, the bombollini, but will try it next time. I give this restaurant 4 stars because for this money I had high expectations. They were mostly met, but not exceeded.

If you want a wonderful dining experience, make reservations and eat here! I’ve eaten here several times, and each time has been excellent on all counts. The service is always friendly and helpful. The ambiance is sexy and lively. The food is outstanding. I’ll be dreaming about the orchiette for months to come. I look forward to the next opportunity to dine here!

I went specifically for the pasta tasting menu, which turns out to no longer be available, though it was still listed on the website. The waiter, knowing how disappointed I was, made certain that I had a lovely experience dining even without the pasta tasting menu, and I ended up not missing it at all. A really special meal.

Osteria Mozza is the fashionable big sister of Pizzeria Mozza. To navigate the extensive menu, it pays to pay attention to reviews and what other people have rated highly in the past.

We started with the Mozzarella taster, which had little variety and frankly was fairly bland.

Our party had the rib eye cap (nicely done, more like a stew) and the pan-seared trout on a bed of lentils. Pastas were hearty and creamy.

The wines were excellent and the bar tender prior to the meal was personable and attentive.

Perhaps we should have stuck to the hearty Italian dishes on the menu, such as veal and oxtail.

We'll try to order better in the future.

As expected amazing!!! We chose Osteria Mozza for our special treat dinner during our trip to LA. You must try the Smoked Mozzarella form the Mozzarella Bar... also the Grill Octopus Antipasti. And to top it off, have pasta! Any pasta dish! We’ve tried the Butternut Squash tortellini just wow... & the magic ultra thin Ricotta Ravioli pasta were they manage to creat a film like pasta for the perfect balanced ratio of flavor.

Food was absolutely delicious! The buffalo mozzarella was creamy and great with anchovies and garlic toast. The pasta was wonderful and the beef entree was tender and delish.
We had a round table in a back corner, so it was't loud and it was easy to talk to each other.
All 6 of us liked the restaurant.

Not inexpensive, but wonderful flavors. Don't think this is your traditional Italian restaurant. It's not. The menu is unique, and I'd order just about everything on it. Generally smaller servings, which is good, otherwise you'd have no room for dessert. Desserts were unusually good. Onb the "service" side of things, our reservation was honored right on time. Server was excellent - paid just enough attention. Wine sommelier was very helpful (and did not point us to the most expensive bottle). The rest of the staff was prompt in removing plates, refilling water, etc. All in all, a really enjoyable dining experience.

The food was amazing...best veal ever and I wish I could eat the sauteed mushrooms everyday. The portions are small and the prices are high. First time I've paid $14 dollars for a dessert that was barely a bite for each of us (4). The service was attentive...almost too much so, but I was disappointed when we asked for another glass of wine in a similar style to the bottle we had shared and when we got the bill it was $30! That is something the wine steward should let a patron know up front.

Celebrated New Year's eve at Osteria Mozza. Walking in, the towers of balloons and twinkling lights gave the room a festive ambiance, warm and welcoming yet oh, so elegant. Nancy Silverton really knows how to run a restaurant. Everything was perfection from the lovely greeting from the hostess upon entering, to the food and wine selection. Our wonderful server, Jen, helped me navigate the menu to accommodate my food allergies. We started with the mozzarella with caviar, I can't have dairy so enjoyed the melt in your mouth, not too salty caviar while my husband loved the mozzarella he said was so delicious it tasted as if it'd been made that day. I had the trout, cooked medium rare on a bed of lentils, both of which I could eat everyday along with a side of roasted carrots. I honestly don't know how you can make carrots taste this good. My husband had the pasta with a gigantic prawn that was cooked perfectly. The prawn tender and flavorful, the pasta, simple but amazingly delicious with garlic and tomatoes. Dessert, a chocolate tart with tahini sorbet was beyond spectacular but we expect nothing less from the master baker/chef Nancy Silverton. Just to top off the brilliance of the meal, the heart created by the foam in the cappuccino lasted until the last sip! What a great way to ring in the new year. Hopefully the rest of the year will be this sublime.

Overrated restaurant. Good bar drink and service. Rest of staff is not friendly. They act like they don’t need your business. The host was not friendly at check-in and didn’t even look up when we were leaving. Waiter was snotty. Brussel sprouts and orecchiette pasta dishes were way too salty. Other dishes were ok. Overpriced for what it is.

We were both disappointed with our experience at Osteria Mozza. It took awhile for us to be greeted by a server, and when we did, she wasn’t able to take our drink orders. It then took awhile longer for a somm to come over and finally bring us the wine we wanted to order. We thought the food was okay, but not deserving of a Michelin Star. The burrata and bacon was good, but overly salted. The octopus had nice flavor, but the thin end was significantly overcooked and incredibly burnt. The duck ragu gnocchi was excellent, but the cacio e pepe was way over peppered (almost inedible). The olive oil gelato was fantastic. Another weird thing was that whenever a table paid their check nearby, we could hear the waitress yelling this fact to the hostess. Not a particularly nice detail to make your guests feel welcome. Overall a disappointing experience.

Went to the Osteria for our daughter’s birthday and we were not disappointed with food, service, and ambience. We largely took our queue from previous diners; standouts were: delish grilled octopus (tender) salad; grilled, sweet whole orata fish; amazing bombolini with ice cream. My “il Postino“ cocktail was so refreshing that I got two!

I’ve dined here before and it was great, but I brought my husband and mom here for the first time and I wanted them to have a great experience, but I have to say I was very disappointed. First of all, our reservation was at 5:15p- ( they open at 5p by the way) and we were seated in the back room when there were tables available in the main room. We ordered a bottle of wine, mozzarella di buffalo, grilled octopus, kale salad, endive salad, 3 different pasta dishes and grilled beef tagliata . I thought most of the dishes were overly salty and overly dressed. However, our server was great and so was our sommelier. I give the food a thumbs down, but the service a thumbs up.
