What Insiders Are Saying
A classic neighborhood spot, with pasta worth driving across the city for.
The food is amazing and the staff is friendly and on top of their game.
I eat only Organic and especially stay away from non organic corn, soy bean product which is entirely grown with Monsanto poisons. When server told us on Sunday brunch, they use all organic from farmer’s market for Sunday brunch, I was so Happy to hear.
I Loooove corn meal bread, anything with corn. But there are hardly any restaurant serve meal with organic corn. So I haven’t eat those for many years. Their polenta was heavenly and all other menus. They don’t have Designated parking place so pretty much you are under mercy :0)
We parked at street but car was safe and sound! I will definitely go back for Sunday brunch.
The best attentive yet unobtrusive service I’ve had in 4 years in LA! 👍🏽
Very good service , fast service, our food was delicious little bit noise downstairs
They’re are just wonderful from service to food and ambiance. It’s our crews favorite spot. The Bolognese is a standout winner according to the meat eaters and they kindly accommodate Gluten Free as well as Vegan where they can. Brussel sprouts are amazing and the chocolate mouse is like no other. .
The meal was excellent, and they gave my mom a free dessert for her birthday. It was a wonderful experience for which I am truly grateful.
The food was SO GOOD (way better than I was expecting it to be) and the service was on point. Only downside is that it can get pretty loud, especially because the space isn't that large.
Just a little too much Rosemary on one of the appetizers sprinkled on top not a good thing.
Other pasta dishes were excellent the bottle of wine We chose was outstanding.
Excellent/friendly service. Music was a little bit loud but overall nice atmosphere. Delicious food!
Can’t say enough good things about this place. My boyfriend and I are regulars here. Great vibe- not overly trendy or too classic. Perfect date night spot. Coming from a big Italian family, I’m super picky about my pasta, and they nail it every time. The cacio e pepe is a must. It’s perfectly cooked and at $11 it’s a steal. We always contemplate ordering another to go. Also highly recommend the ricotta w/ caramelized agave to start.
ALWAYS ON POINT! BEEN GOING HERE FOR QUITE SOME TIME, EVERYTHING ON THE MENU IS GREAT, MAKE SURE YOU GET THE HOUSE MADE RICOTTA!
Great time! Great Food!
Impressed by this great find on Melrose! The menu was well-rounded with creative ingredients (I got a pork chop with nectarine, walnut, and balsamic reduction). Delicious appetizers and very generous portions. Everything was cooked perfectly with balanced seasoning. I felt like the service was considerate and invisible at the same time. We enjoyed our meal and will return!
Been coming to Osteria La Buca for YEARS and it NEVER DISAPPOINTS!
Booked a table late on a Thursday eve, arrived around 9:15pm and the place was hopping, pretty much every table occupied. The hand crafted cocktails are inventive, strong, and tasty. The pasta is cooked to perfection, and the accompanying sauces are perfectly paired to the variously shaped noodles. Killer selection of amaro, including a local one called Angeleno Amaro from California, delicious!
If any complaints, which are minor compared to the overall experience,
a) the room could use some type of sound dampening material, it is TOUGH to hear the person across the table from oneself
b) on the eve we were there, salad choices were very limited and the one we chose was uninspired and rather bland
great food, terrific service, fantastic music, ....tables are a little close together upstairs
Best food in the city
It was all very delicious. It was a group of 5 and we decided to order a little bit of everything and share with each. This way we could try multiple items on the
Menu. Lunch menu is sufferers to dinner just FYI
The buccatini carbonara was delicious. I'm a fan of carbonara. I drove all the way up from Long Beach and I was not disappointed.
Amazing good, great service.
Always great! A fabulous neighborhood staple. Good food, good service, decent prices.
Solid place for delicious Italian food with great attentive service. Good for intimate and group dinners.
We had a wonderful time— got the classic pizza and carbonara—- bellisimo!
Very good food, friendly service, good energy and nice atmosphere. Having a full bar, a definite plus.
The food is consistently outstanding. Make sure to get a reservation and this is a popular place.
So loud you couldn’t hear table conversation.
Entre arrived as we were eating appetizer.
Three out of three requests for no ice had to be sent back.
You be the judge.
We were there at 2:00, close to closing (2:30 for lunch) so not fully staffed and service was slow due to that but the waitress was very sweet and they comped us a delicious tiramisu. It was fine since we were old friends wanting to visit and had just been at the Valentino Memorial Service at Hollywood Forever Cemetary- close by. Also no parking was a bit of a problem. I was sorry to see the neighborhood around this nice restaurant so full of litter where we parked a few blocks away in residendual area. LA doesn't have street swipers?
The girl hostess was very sweet and awesome. She was nothing but helpful in seating us and was great!
They added on 4 extra people no problem during our dinner (since there were extra chairs not being used) and worked to try to accommodate the extra people in the tight space! I always have a good experience and service here
Excellent service, food was fantastic as usual (Nero spaghetti. Just do it!)
This is one of our two or three favorite neighborhood restaurants. It is comfortable, service is very attentive (and both the host and the server are likely to recognize you if you've been there before), and the food is very good, especially for the price. It isn't the place you take your fancy clients or your out of town foodies friend, but it is the place you take your family and closest friends when you want good food, kind service, in a place where you can talk and relax.
Matt is the best.
I crave this food all the time. Perfect balance of fine dining and casual feel. Great service.
I love this place... It's walking distance from me and as long as you are sat upstairs it's 5 stars. Downstairs is too noisy.
Amazing Italian! We had the private "Pasta Room" which made the bday celebration dinner feel even more special. Great pasta, great apps and amazing wines! You can't go wrong with this spot!
Loved it, but there were lots of flies flying around in the restaurant which took away from the ambience of the restaurant.
I was recommended this place and I must say I loved up to every word I was told ...great food, great drinks, and amazing service . Definitely a new favorite, will be going back again and again
Our server was great! And the food was delicious also. What was upsetting what’s still having to wait an additional 15 mins for a table that I didn’t want. I requested a table on the top floor, and I understand that if they are busy but then common courtesy is to let the party know they aren’t able to fulfill the request of the party. Always get the pasta and you won’t be disappointed and listen to your server for suggestions! I will visit again due to the food and hopefully it will be even better then the first time!
The Brussels sprouts dish is excellent. The pizzas are excellent as are the pastas.
This was my second trip. The food was very good, as before. The service was even better this time.
One of the best Italian restaurants I’ve been to. The crispy Brussel sprouts were out of his world, the Bolognese and carbonara were also incredible. A must go to restaurant!
