What Insiders Are Saying
We fell in love with Norah immediately, but then realized we we're better off friends.
The food we were served it was well prepared and the service was excellent. My disappointment was with how limited the menu was. There needs to be more selection of food.
After having read some review of Norah on google, yelp, etc. I had my doubts about eating here. They were pretty mixed, but I gave it a shot anyways because the menu and some of the photos looked so good. Well, we had a great experience from the moment we walked in the door. We had reserved seats at the bar, but somehow the bar stools just didn't look all that comfy. So, the host sat us at a cozy table for 2, no problem. Danny, our server, was super attentive and we had the first dish and glasses of libations in front of us within 10 minutes of walking in. We started with the roots & burrata plate which was very tasty with the spiced honey and the pistachio puree. The only touch which would have made it better would have been a few minutes under a heat lamp. It was obviously stored in fridge before being served. We followed up with the magnificent black truffle potato gnocchi and the uni butter poached shrimp. The first were easily the most fluffy little pillows that I have ever had, and plenty of shaved truffles made this a perfect dish. Both flavors were so delicate because it seems that none of so common artificial truffle oil was employed. Similarly, the shrimp were also exceptional. Next time we'll have all three together because the roots and burrata did go quite well with those other, richer dishes. The only minus of the experience was that the dinning room was a bit cold. On the plus side, compliments to the chef for not polluting his food with Canola oil. Since my stomach is very sensitive to this highly processed oil, I checked ahead of time and was delighted to hear that it is not in use in the kitchen. I'll certainly be back to dine with Norah again since I am curious about the rest of the menu. However, I can already predict feeling rather tempted to have the same three dishes once again.
Price is not according with the experience,... we have dinner (200 dolars) and I don’t remember nothing special about the food, just correct!
Our experience at Norah was wonderful. Our waitress was attentive and so kind. The food was delicious! We especially enjoyed the black truffle gnocchi and cornbread! We will be back very soon.
Great ambiance with mood lighting and decorations, conveying an intimate feel. Food is good but only average and definitely not at the level expected for the price. I got the wagyu steak and it was underwhelming. Additionally, service was lacking. Every time I wanted to order or needed our server, he was nowhere to be found.
Great food and service
We dined here for our anniversary and Norah completely exceeded our expectations. The food was incredible. Very attentive and thoughtful service. Thank you!
Cornbread was the best part of our dinner.
Crudo was good.
Not a very exciting menu selection, Uni butter poached shrimp were ok but very salty and slightly overcooked
Truffle gnocchi were nothing extraordinary either.
Opted for the tasting menu (which they happen to discontinue) but the chefs were able to whip up for our table of 5. From the taste of it, I know why they discontinued it. Everything was thought to be farm to table but more like vegetarian and cheeses . Or whatever they had available. Last dish was the only meat offered. All in all, I would not return unless for a drink at the bar. The vibe was cool and happening for WeHo.
The service at Norah is excellent. Our waiter was very attentive and food was well-coursed. Water glasses were never empty and we never wanted for a cocktail, which were great. And the bar was super accommodating: they even made an amazing non-alcoholic Spanish gin & tonic. Most of the food was outstanding: the cornbread was incredible, the burrata and root vegetables appetizer was delicate and delicious, and the grilled baby broccoli on white bean hummus was flavorful. The cauliflower croquettes were unremarkable. There was a pumpkin cavatelli pasta with pomegranate seeds and roasted pepitas (I think) that was amazing. My husband got the pork, which was delicious, but was really just a little bit of pork chop along side a sausage on lentils, and the $40+ price tag didn't seem worth it. Overall I highly recommend Norah.
We had a very enjoyable evening!!
Once again, my experience was superlative! I have been to Norah many times, each time inviting people for their first time. The other two couples thoroughly enjoyed everything from the decor through to all the dishes, as well as the attention by the staff. Delicious food as always, wonderful attentive service, and an overall exceptional dining experience. Cannot wait for more out-of-town guests to come so that I can go back. And if they don't come soon, I will go back anyway.
Overall amazing experience with amazing people!
Took a client & a friend here & it was relaxed but impressive. A nice work/social balance
Food was spectacular. Fun, bustling vibe. Closes earlier than you’d expect (light on, music off at 11:30).
Superb meal. Try the tasting menu. You wont regret it.
Great food, great Happy Hour TIL 7pm.
Cornbread was delicious - great food to share.
Sides and appetizers were excellent. Mains and desssert were weak (6/10). Nice place and would recommend.
Great neighborhood find! Always great food and service!
Uni butter poached shrimps are the most delicious ever. The sauce is heavenly!
Menu is a bit limited and portions are on the small side, but the service and space is beautiful
The food was average and the service was mediocre
Excellent food and service in a trendy environment
We had a great meal, in addition to the food being noteworthy and clever, the service was friendly and impeccable. I highly recommend it!
We searched for good food and cocktails — and "quiet conversation" using the OpenTable filters. Most of the food was fantastic. The cocktails were great. As was service. But it is SO dark in this restaurant that nothing (nothing) can be seen without using your phone's flashlight feature. Nothing. (I'm older but I still have young eyes, so this isn't a "get off of my lawn" comment.) This is especially unfortunate because the presentation of the food is stellar — but unless someone spends the whole meal shining a light on it, you will never be able to appreciate that presentation (or even really know what's on your fork). Also the idea that Norah is good for "quiet conversation" is absurd. It's not the noisiest place I've been, but it is NOT for normal conversation. You need to lean over and yell in this place. I'm really sorry to have to say this, but I wouldn't recommend Norah, despite the great food and bar service.
Everything was really excellent.
Great food - interesting dishes.
Wonderful cocktails (I had the Spanish Gin & Tonic - excellent).
We skipped desert unfortunately because we loved all the dishes we ordered.
A MUST go !!
Came for a brunch reservation at 1pm on Sunday. Busy but not crowded. When the host finally appeared he pointed to the table next to the host stand and said “your table is right here” even though the table next to us was two photographers photographing what I will generously call a “model”. Annoyed that we weren’t offered a table elsewhere. Our waiter was warm and friendly and gave helpful suggestions. The three of us ordered the lavender gin fizz, which were all perfectly made and tasted delicious. We ordered the cornbread, the french toast, the soft eggs with avo toast, the fried chicken sandwich, and the congee. The cornbread was fantastic, a must order. The french toast was very nice, I appreciated the pistachios and the orange zest folded into the whipped cream. The soft eggs were fine but the avo toast alongside it was a sloppy afterthought - there was no artful presentation and nothing other than avo/bread and the bread was not special either. No salt/pepper/acid/garnish on the toast. Totally disappointing since the eggs only redeeming quality was shaved parm and chives. The fried chicken sandwich looked amazing and my friend enjoyed it but I was disappointed to see there was nothing else on the plate, no greens or anything to accompany the sandwich. Other friend ordered the congee which was beautifully presented and she said it tasted good. All in all, a solid option for brunch, there could just be some more refinements to some of the dishes. I may come back to see if dinner lives up to the beautiful ambience.
My wife and I had an outstanding experience. Excellent food, more unique and interesting than the menu suggests. We sat at the bar and had a wonderful meal guided by the friendly and helpful bar tender. We ate at many restaurants during our weeklong trip to LA (most meaningfully more expensive and fancy than Nora) and Norah ended up being our best meal and favorite place.
I was so excited to try this restaurant as I had heard so much about it. We walked in and the place was beautifully designed and our waiter was knowledgeable and nice. The food was amazing up until 3/4 of the way into our gnocchi we found a thick long piece of plastic that turned out to be a disposable eye drop container. I was surprised the way that management handled the situation. After asking their kitchen crew and wait staff they returned to the table saying they had no idea where that came from that noting inside their kitchen or first aid kit resembled what was in our food. None of the employees claimed it as theirs either. The manager said he had to believe his staff and said he couldn’t know what happened to the plate after it landed on our table being very accusatory and hinting at that we might have placed it on our food. It felt awful not only to have no idea what liquid was in that container if we had ingested it and if we were going to get sick and that we seemingly had little compassion or apologies from management. At first they offered to take the plate off our bill then all of our food and by the end our entire bill. It would have been nice if they had taken down our information and followed up with us. Don’t know if I will ever go back which is a shame because the food and service was lovely up until then.
Meh - better food for less money elsewhere. Seemed better last year. Have they lost their edge? Feels like another WEHO rip off....
The ambiance of this restaurant is lovely, the food was great and the service left nothing to be desired. We went for weekend brunch and left very satisfied. The baked goods are delicious, especially the corn bread. I will definitely plan to go back. Maybe for dinner next time.
Food was great -Harrison our server was awesome - knowledgeable; and friendly!
Excellent food and great service. Loved the coffee too
I love this place and have so many meals here. I really do like how you can make Bar seat reservations and the bar staff is amazing. I also highly recommend the cornbread as I can binge eat it for days.
Great place - this particular day the service seemed a bit slow, but nothing that will keep me from coming back. Really enjoyed the food - everything ordered was amazing.
Exceptional experience from beginning to end. The staff is awesome the food is deliciously incredible. We loved The Cast iron corn bread it’s a must try.
We very much enjoyed all of our food and Rex (our Server) was on point with all of his knowledge and recommendations. Our only overall critique pertains to the lighting, we found it a bit too dark which made our overall dinning experience slightly less enjoyable since you first eat with your eyes and being able to see our food was difficult. I completely understand the lighting creates the atmosphere however your dinners should be able to see what they're eating. Keep in mind we were sitting in the very far corner of the restaurant next to the patio windows where the light was quite sparse.
All this being said... the food, cocktails and service were all excellent. We look forward to making our way back to Norah's for more incredible corn bread and more delicious creations.
The food here is amazing! It’s the second time I came & was surprised it wasn’t busier. They use fresh, creative ingredients & the presentation is beautiful.
I’d love to see a larger pour on the wine. My first glass was so small I thought it was a taste. The second was slightly better, but not what I would have hoped for.
Norah was a wonderful meal for our group - we hosted two friends from out of town, and it was a great balance of chic atmosphere, appealing location, friendly service, and tasty food & drink. A special night out without any stuffiness.
