About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Charming
  • Neighborhood gem
The Bistro at Muriel’s Jackson Square offers contemporary Creole cuisine with New Orleans classics like Seafood Gumbo, Turtle soup, Shrimp & Grits and Wood Grilled Pork Chop while the Courtyard Bar is the perfect place to drop by for drinks and appetizers. The Séance Lounge is the place for a relaxed, comfortable meeting before or after dining. Comprised of two areas, The Outer Seance and The Inner Séance, the Séance also tells the story of a mystic checkered past. The Outer Séance addresses the New Orleans era of Storyville when Muriel's Jackson Square was one of the French Quarter's top bordellos! The Inner Séance is the preferred domain of the resident ghost, Pierre Antoine Lepardi Jourdan; it's the perfect spot for an intimate conversation or a drink among its plush surroundings. The 170 foot wrap-around balcony is a splendid spot for enjoying our specialty cocktails or our extensive wine list featuring over 300 selections from around the world.

The service and food is the best overall experience we had anywhere in the French Quarter. This was our 3rd visit in the last 2 months and each time the service and food has been consistently exceptional. The double stuffed pork chop is my go to dish and my wife had the pecan crusted fish. They also have BEST bread pudding I ever had!

Soup and app was served room temp. Sent it back and then got only half portion. First bites of pork chop were delicious but realized the inside was raw. Showed them and they did immediately take it off the bill, but that’s not the point. The food was awful at best, inedible at worst. Muriel’s has become a factory, the food must have been sitting out, waiting to be brought to table.

We were seated in the “loud room”, difficult to hear conversations. Would not eat at Muriel’s again unless seated in quieter sections.

Everything was so amazingly delicious (crawfish and goat cheese crepes are so good! And the turtle soup too—it sounds yucky but I loved every spoonful!). The wait staff were perfectly attentive without hovering. Beautifully renovated historic home. It did get a bit loud, I think just from having people in smallish rooms with hardwood floors.

Repeat customers for the last 7 years Food was great but not excellent like we’ve found it so many times My husband and I both typically are incredibly satisfied with our meals after a Muriel’s experience but not this time Just wasn’t as impressive. They took the filet off the menu….NY strip didn’t compare

I thought food, ambiance and location was excellent. Make sure you check out the “ghost table” and upstairs balcony( awesome for drinks). For Nola this is reasonably priced. Three course fixed price menu is the way to go.
