Los creadores de Sweet Basil en Vail Colorado abrieron las puertas de un nuevo establecimiento en diciembre del 2012. Qué mejor nombre que Mountain Standard; esta taberna rústica y relajada tiene como objetivo establecer un nuevo estándar en el valle de Vail mediante el uso de antiguas técnicas culinarias. La mayoría de los menús de Mountain Standard son preparados con el método de cocción más tradicional: a fuego vivo. Éste es el único restaurante en el valle que se dedica de tal forma a la cocina de antaño, proporcionando sabores rústicos y honestos, centrándose en los ingredientes más puros de la región de las Montañas Rocosas y más allá. El servicio, así como la cocina, le proporcionará el equilibrio perfecto entre una cena de primera clase y un ambiente despreocupado.     Mtn Standard is located in the heart of the Vail Village, which is a pedestrian village. Take interstate 70 to the Vail exit #176. Proceed through rotary intersections so that you wind up heading East on the So. Frontage Road (ski mountain side of the highway). Go eastbound approx.¼ mile to the Vail Village parking structure. Exit the structure out the middle portal to the south. Go across the Covered Bridge another 75 yards, and go right on Gore Creek Dr. We are down the steps past the Fountain

    The Vail Village free in town bus shuttle is available year round throughout the village. Take the bus to the Covered Bridge stop and proceed as noted below. Free public transportation is also available from East to West Vail into the Transportation Center at the main parking structure.

                      We have considered Mt. Standard a gem since we first went there for lunch in 2017. Since then we have spent the last 3 New Years Eves celebrating at Mt. Standard with our 3 kids and my husband I had the pleasure of dining without kids this spring. The spring menu was such a delight! We started with the biscuits, which are always a favorite; usually we splurge and order 2 each. At $6 a pop they can add up quickly for a family of 5…hoping one day they come by the 1/2 or full dozen. They we shared the chowder…it was perfectly creamy and had a nice hint of smoke which we both enjoyed and lots of clams, potatoes and topped with buttery croutons. Next we split the rotisserie chicken salad. This salad is now ranked in one of my top salads and I will dream about the tender chicken, golden raisins and perfect dressing! Finally we split the Salmon with a horseradish latke cake and buttermilk sauce. We devoured this and the sauce lended us to want to lick the plate. Unfortunately we didn’t have room for deserve but we had the snickers dessert and our kids say it’s a mush! Can’t wait to return for New Years Eve again this year!

                      Dark ambiance mood lighting, creative menu served delicious. From the wedge, to salmon to tri tip, tiramisu too, excellent. Serving size moderate and wished they served bread. Nice waiter! Always a great experience.

                      Such a great dinner! Katie the manager is attentive to allergies, making sure our dinner was perfect and all around great service from our server Alyssa! I love dining here and they truly will make it a great experience! Thank you!

                      Keith our bartender made us delicious margaritas at the bar. We also sampled the whipped feta and NBQ shrimp. Both were delicious. matt the owner made an appearance as well to check in with us and which we greatly appreciated!

                      Mountian Standard is always consistently great. That Pork Shank is amazing and the Ham biscuits are always great too.

                      Food was as amazing as always, but the service was really disappointing this time. Maybe it’s because your service is typically exceptional. But our waitress didn’t know our very simple martini orders, we weren’t given (and had to ask for) share plates with our apps and utensils with our entrees. Everything felt really off. Definitely took away from the experience, and we had friends in town so was kinda a bummer.

                      Surprised with delicious octopus appetizer in a bean-tomato sauce that almost made my daughter want to get a second portion of the same dish for entree. Lump crab and ham sandwich was also extra yummy . We will be back for sure. Tables are a bit too close together ; so, noise level a bit loud.

                      5 star review all the way!! I am a complicated customer w an autoimmune dz, EOE, and am allergic to wheat, dairy, eggs, tree nuts, and legumes(beans, peas, soy). I dread going out to dinner and usually just say steak or fish, no butter- please use oil, and I’m fine. But the specially cooked veggies an sm potato and was outstanding!! I’m so appreciative to have had such a wonderful thoughtful dinner!! Thank you chefs!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
