Los creadores de Sweet Basil en Vail Colorado abrieron las puertas de un nuevo establecimiento en diciembre del 2012. Qué mejor nombre que Mountain Standard; esta taberna rústica y relajada tiene como objetivo establecer un nuevo estándar en el valle de Vail mediante el uso de antiguas técnicas culinarias. La mayoría de los menús de Mountain Standard son preparados con el método de cocción más tradicional: a fuego vivo. Éste es el único restaurante en el valle que se dedica de tal forma a la cocina de antaño, proporcionando sabores rústicos y honestos, centrándose en los ingredientes más puros de la región de las Montañas Rocosas y más allá. El servicio, así como la cocina, le proporcionará el equilibrio perfecto entre una cena de primera clase y un ambiente despreocupado.     Mtn Standard is located in the heart of the Vail Village, which is a pedestrian village. Take interstate 70 to the Vail exit #176. Proceed through rotary intersections so that you wind up heading East on the So. Frontage Road (ski mountain side of the highway). Go eastbound approx.¼ mile to the Vail Village parking structure. Exit the structure out the middle portal to the south. Go across the Covered Bridge another 75 yards, and go right on Gore Creek Dr. We are down the steps past the Fountain

    The Vail Village free in town bus shuttle is available year round throughout the village. Take the bus to the Covered Bridge stop and proceed as noted below. Free public transportation is also available from East to West Vail into the Transportation Center at the main parking structure.

                      A good crew of staff were present to make sure our dining experience was correct. They did an excellent job. The clam chowdah was very tasty and well conceived. The rotisserie chicken salad was good. The fire cooked pork chop seemed pricey but was good. It could have been cooked a little less for my preference but I earlier deferred to the chef's choice. The garnish was tasty, even the pork rinds. I haven't had them in a long time and thought it odd that a fancy joint like Mountain Standard would include them. The beers on tap were well selected. I noted that Mountain Standard purposely eschewed having a German style beer available on tap, staying to its American cuisine goal. But they should consider Colorado breweries like Prost and Bierstadt. These breweries are making authentically tasting German beers which, due to freshness, are better than what is available in Vail Village from imported Munich beers. The ambiance is lively. Families are welcome here and they were out in force. That's nice. It is a basically well-to-do clientele.

                      David was a wonderful server. Wedge salad very good. Fried chicken sandwich skimpy on chicken portion. Love the atmosphere sitting on the patio!! We’ll go back again!!

                      The atmosphere and food are exceptional. The bar can’t keep up with the rest of the flow. When your cocktail comes after your apps arrive it’s a problem. When you want a glass of wine with your entree and it comes after you’re almost done it’s a problem. Hard to take away from the quality of food but unfortunately it does slightly.

                      It was so hot in the restaurant we were miserable! We asked to move tables closer to the outside but they said they couldn’t. Many people were talking about how uncomfortable they were!
