As always, a pleasurable dining experience with very attentive and accommodating staff.
The only complaint this time was the creamed spinach was very dry and overly spiced with nutmeg...I always order this side dish...my fave! Boris was a fabulous server, too!
Bread is $9 and it is brought to the table. We did not know we had to pay separate for it. It was under-cooked a bit and the dried onion was overpowering.
The waiter brought a steak entree out with a mistake (he caught it and I didn't say anything) and took it back to the kitchen with an apology. Had to wait for the entree for longer than expected. When entree was brought the steak was overdone, waiter confirmed and brought another steak and a new side (because food was getting cold) with the chef. Took about 10 minutes or so. During this time my spouse was waiting to eat out of courtesy while his food was getting cold. The chef offered a free dessert with his apology.
The food itself was not tasty. The 5 onion soup was bland as well as the au gratin side of potatoes. The Brussels sprouts were a bit under-cooked in our opinion. The manager presented the bill with an apology and did not charge for the dessert or the steak entree. We thought that was a very nice gesture as we never complained or asked for discounts.
Overall the food was mediocre. Our bill (with a bottle of wine) was over $240 for two people. We have had wonderful meals for half the price with the same type of entrees. Sacramento has great restaurants and Morton's needs to improve to these standards.
Arrived at 7:38 for our 7:45 pm reservation only to be told by a tall male manager/host that we had to wait closer to our reservation time. No one greeted us or told us where to wait. No one ever came to get us in the bar area. Finally at 7:46 ish, another host called the name of Harris (who is my partners last name), so we proceeded to go with him to the table but realized it was not our table as the reservation was made under Torres. The host decided to leave us at the table and said we did nothing wrong. No explanation was offered about the mixup. My place setting was all messed up and no one corrected it. Drinks not refreshed timely, and desert took for ever. Our waiter did not tell us about the 30 minute wait for suffle otherwise we would have ordered during course of our dinner. We ordered something else.
Had a great meal really enjoyed the evening. Our server was so friendly and attentive. Great food and wine in a very elegant relaxing atmosphere. Our only issue was trying to get to the valet stand. Golden 1 Center had a game and many streets blocked off we couldn't get to valet. Luckily the valet helped us out and came and got our car on Capital Ave. and parked the car for us thanks so much.
This was my first time going to Morton’s. Been wanting to go here for months. Honestly was sadly disappointed in a handful of areas. Morton’s was not that busy when we arrived. Everyone was brought water etc expect me. I waited for almost an hour for waitress to come back. I had a to ask a passing by waiter to get it for me. We were also informed they were out of mashed potatoes. Which was fine. Guests ordered baked potatoes no big deal. Well when they brought the food to the table. It was a dried out very lumpy baked potatoe mashed up. My boyfriend ordered a cut of meat. On the menu it stated it came with other items, when he got it all that was on the plate was the meat. The last thing I was very dissatisfied with. I ordered two pounds of Alaskan king crab. Which costs over 120$ which I don’t mind spending. But the crab was covered in so much butter it was hard to get down.
We have been celebrating my husband’s birthday here for years. Over the years and the change of ownership the service as gone downhill. Management always tries to stay on top of any issues we have had but the professionalism is just not there. When we’re paying over $400 for our meal, we expect to have professional service.
The place is nice as fare as decoration and style but it was kept a bit too dark. I could barely see that the bacon that wrapped my scallops was barely done, could have used a bit more cooking. I was really disappointed with the three $23.00 scallops. They were mushy and tasteless. I had the ribeye and it was good but a little more rare than medium rare. Was much better the next day with a bit more cooking. It was my first time there and no one explained that the sides were large and I feel they were fairly expensive for mashed potatos and some Brussels sprouts (a few of them were actually just this side of raw!
All in all, I think I'll keep looking for the perfect Christmas dinner place. I wanted Prime Rib anyway.
It has become an annual tradition for us to dine at Morton's on Christmas Eve, as it's a nice atmosphere and great food. This year we were disappointed in how crowded the dining room was. They squeezed in at least one extra rows of tables in and it maddest difficult for wait staff and guests to maneuver to the tables, into seats, etc. The added crowds also hurt the food quality as the salads had too much dressing, the lamb was overcooked, etc. It is still our favorite steakhouse in Sacramento, but hopefully they will rethink the overcrowding next year for Christmas Eve.
It was pretty good for being a franchise! Honestly, it had the feel if an upscale independent until the pitch to join the Landry points reward club. The service was excellent, food was good and predictable (as chain restaurant food generally is). We had the mixed grill with a nice fillet, cooked the way we ordered but came out room temp like it was laying around before it was plated. I really can't complain about anything, and I'd go back again.
Everything was great from the bottle of champagne to the ambiance to the bone in filet. Maudi provided exceptional service! Phenomenal servers that are fun and attentive, but hang back when appropriate make a great dinner an exceptional and memorable experience. She's a gem!
My brother and I are newly orphaned, as adults, and this was our first Thanksgiving w/out our parents. Additionally, we were celebrating my brother's 50th birthday. :) So I was blown away when we got to the restaurant and saw that the menus were specially printed to reflect Ted's special day; it made him feel so special -- what a nice surprise!!
Our server, Jason, had impeccable taste and timing and suggested several items to us that we loved, incl. the bacon-wrapped scallops w/ apricot chutney, which I loved!!!
Our meals were perfect and we were able to linger as we saw fit, and all in all, we had a pleasant evening, receiving what I feel was the true "Morton's experience!"
