Superb dinner- we had Ahi Tuna from the Chargrill and it was grilled perfectly- The wine Davis-Bynum pinot noir was an excellent match. Great evening perfect weather. The service was excellent.
We both had one of the best meals of our lives. Scallops were great that wife had. I had surf and turf. Lobster broiled to perfection. House special gin and tonic was most unique ever had. Wonderful experience. Hate just passing thru and not a local so can come back often.
Our waiter Michael was wonderful, helpful, funny. Love this place!! We come here whenever we are in the area. We always order the soup and love the short ribs.
Visited a year ago and food was amazing. One year later, new chef, food was less special. I ordered pasta carbonara and it was just ok - nothing especially stood out. The sauce was creamy, but not indulgent. The peas popped in your mouth, but we’re fairly bland. Prosciutto was few and far between.
Out of town guests- party of 3. Outstanding setting in the main dining room, friendly and attentive service by Jason our waiter, food was scrumptious. Will return.
Loved the evening! Great food under the stars. Wonderful service. We’ll go back.
Filet was luke warm and good but not great. Everything else was just ok.
After having two consecutive dining disappointments at the other restaurants in this hotel, I was hesitant to eat here.
The food was ok, the service spotty. After answering several questions about which things were dairy free, our waiter recommended a mushroom crust for the steak, which turned out to contain lots of butter and cream. My daughter had to scrape it off. Overall, the waitstaff in the restaurants in this hotel are not focused on the customers dining experience. Three strikes and you’re out, LaQuinta Resort.
We had dinner at the bar. Very nice atmosphere. Enjoyed the piano man singer.
Amazing service, fantastic pasta and wine selection. Had seafood which was very good but uninspired. Would return!!
After previous visits this was a real disappointment for us,we couldn’t see the menu and without using our iPhones to read, as it was so dark.
The menu was uninspired, food average price high,
service seemed rushed. The wine list was good.
We won’t be coming back to Morgan’s any time soon
Great food and great service. Will make this a yearly birthday event
The atmosphere is wonderful, the food was VERY tasty but the service left a bit to be desired. We sat for almost 15 minutes with nothing on our table, water bread, nothing. We kept hearing, "your server will be right with you". Asked for salt, never came, asked three people, finally got it. After 30 minutes the original person we asked comes running over with it. This would not deter us from going again as the atmosphere is nice and food was excellent. Every place has it's bad days so we will be back.
Wonderful, As Always! Every year I come to La Quinta for the tennis tournament at Indian Wells. My routine includes at least one dinner at Morgan’s in the Desert while I am there. It never disappoints.
Always great service and quality appetizers and entrees. One more of favorite restaurants in the Valley.
Our server Anita was one of the best I have ever had. Genuine, friendly, attentive, personal. The outdoor patio is gorgeous with a fire pit and heaters to keep you warm on a cool desert evening. Comfortable seating and tables well spaced out for privacy and conversation. The food was exquisite across the board from the roasted cauliflower small plate to the French fries side (some of the best I’ve ever had save the duck fat fries from Portland ME), and the grilled scallops were large and plentiful, the braised short rib entree so tender and flavorful. For a party of four with cocktails and appetizers and three sides, four entrees and two desserts it came to less than $90 per person. Amazing
Very friendly servers; super accommodating; I requested my favorite table and they delivered.
That was the best pork chop I’ve had in a long time. What a great way to wind down after a long day of tennis watching at Indian Wells!
There was a very limited menu. The Beet salad and the salmon were average. The service was exemplary and it is a lovely setting.
Excellent as always, great service, nice welcoming by receptionist. Great food, tasty, good presentation, great experience over all.
My husband and I went to Morgan's for a birthday celebration....he could not have selected a better place! He let the maitre d know that it was a special birthday and they gave us the best seat in the house. The service is excellent, very attentive without being imposing and the food was delicious! I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to have a special dining experience!
Sad to say my fourth time at Morgan's was a huge disappointment, so much so that I probably won't go back. Waited 20 minutes for a waiter and finally had to go back to the concierge and nicely say WTF. Medium rare steaks were medium well. Seafood obviously prepared in advance was cold. After many good experiences this was not nearly up to my expectations, especially with an important customer. Hopefully just a bad day but I won't risk it again.
From it's lovely setting inside the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in the desert, to the beautiful architectural details starting at the lobby and bar, with spectacular ceiling and exposed beams to the comfortable banquets and seating, Morgan's is a feast for the eyes as well as the taste buds. The service is stellar, after being seated we were greeted by a waiter who told us "I have some exciting choices for you - would you prefer still, sparkling or La Quinta's finest tap water?" Every server, waiter and even the Manager were professional, friendly and attentive.
We decided to go with NY Strip steaks, Pork Chop and several sides - the Macaroni (just ok), mashed potatoes (better, but I wish I ordered the fries) and the bacon laden Brussel Sprouts (perfection). The NY Strip came cooked exactly to order, Pittsburgh Style (look it up) was tender and tasteful. The Pork Chop was also perfectly grilled and came with a great orange sauce, very complementary.
One important fact, even when filled with diners Morgan's noise level still allows you to have a conversation with your tablemates without raising your voice. I compliment their designer, this is very important to me and many other diners. So go to Morgan's, make a reservation though, they are popular.
Went to Morgan's for my husband's 70th birthday last Saturday. It was a wonderful time all 10 of use enjoyed our menu selections immensely. My husband remarked that it was the best Filet Mignon he has ever eaten and we have been all over the world so that's saying something!
Amazing food and great atmosphere. Perfect for special occasion
I had been to Morgan's on two other occasions so I knew what to expect. But, this time I brought four of my foodie friends and the experience was more than outstanding! Open Table gave us a table outside (which was not what I preferred) so I called the restaurant to see if they could accommodate us inside. Yes, no problem! Then, when we got there and they offered us a table a little too close to a busy pathway, I asked to be moved over one table and, once again, they happily complied. The server and all the others were super friendly and helpful. The food was over-the-top outstanding. One of our party chose a wine and we were told that the vintner himself was dining in the restaurant by chance. We were welcomed over at his table and had a photo op and he signed our bottle. It was 95-year-old Mike Grgich from Napa Valley--too fun! I was very happy our experience was so great, especially because I had told my friends so much about Morgan's. We all were very pleased to say the least!
The food was above average, food prices were high, service was Good.
Thanks you to our server Salvador and his helpers. Also to the pastry chef Diana for the lovely anniversary plate for my parents they loved it . I sure will be back soon
Terrible experience. Took more than 30 minutes to get soup. A longer wait for dinner. I ordered fish. It was mushy - no texture whatsoever. I’m wondering if they took it out of freezer and then microwaved? It was inedible.
Morgan’s is excellent. I dined there twice. Melissa is an excellent server. Grilled octopus, ahi tuna, scallops and brussel sprouts were delicious. Other diners who had beef short ribs, steak, crab and other dishes were very happy with them. Pretty setting outside. Excellent heat lamps. It’s an expensive restaurant but in that category it is excellent.
You guys are so wonderful!!
Lovely place with a great vibe , great food and music . Beautiful character and ambience . Great date place
Great meal and service! Short ribs and chocolate bombe were divine.
Nice night...thank you Steve!
JOSH & Vic
We loved it. The hostess, Joanna? was extremely accommodating. She helped us pick a very nice table.
The food was well prepared and elegantly presented but overpriced. 4 medium sized scallops with one broccoli spear cut into 4 pieces and 1/4 turnip cut into 4 bites was $45. It was tasty but priced for a captive resort clientele
We had a birthday dinner here. This is a very nice, special occasion type of place. Food was excellent. The service was good, although our waiter seemed a bit overwhelmed with the number of tables he had to attend. Definitely a pricey place but I felt it was worth it given the ambiance, service and food.
Anniversary dinner. Everything was wonderful, especially server, Michael.
Our favorite place in La Quinta for a special occasion dinner
For the past several years we've enjoyed dining at Morgan's in the Desert but recently have had many dishes that were poorly prepared (overcooked lamb, heavily salted fish, overly saturated salad greens, etc.) or of inferior quality ("store bought" dinner rolls, mushy grilled prawns, frozen lobster tail vs fresh). This is a "fine dining" restaurant which has lost its way.
