Monkeypod Kitchen - Wailea
Dry chicken wings and cold raw fish in the middle. Have had good experiences before but wouldn’t go back now.
The service and food were fantastic! Highly recommend the mai tai and the macadamia nut mahi mahi.
Very accommodating to our requests. Fantastic hosts and servers. Food was fabulous. Drinks were spectacular...Mai Tai is a must try. An error by the kitchen staff was promptly corrected and reflected in credits on our final bill. We were on the patio by the pond and it was lovely, within view of the distant ocean.. Our party of 4 had a wonderful time and would we all not hesitate to return.
Hands down the best restaurant for the money in Maui if not the country. Cocktails, service, appetizers, entrees, and desserts were spectacular.
We went on a happy hour Monday. The guitarist was so good! Because we were enjoying happy hour prices, the value was great. The prices are typical for Hawaii (expensive) so having the discount was great. Mai Tai amazing.
the host was horrible. we kindly requested to be seated at a different table and were told it was the one, she brought us to, or nothing, although there were several open tables. our waitress finally moved us
Monkeypod is always good. We come back several times every year.
Again and again our best dining experience. I can't say enough.
Wonderful service, amazing drinks and good food!!
Thank you for being a great restaurant!!! Never disappointed 🤙🏻
The live music was so incredibly loud every table was struggling to hear and talk. We ended up rushing to leave. Skipping dessert to get the heck out of there.
Food wise the pot stickers were great but the siamin was bland and lacked flavor.
Disappointed for sure.
We enjoyed dining outside. The service was pleasant and prompt. We dined at our pace and enjoyed our drinks and lobster deviled eggs. We both were delighted with thick rare ahi with jalapeño potatoes and bok Choy. It’s no wonder this restaurant is always full and we regularly return.
We are wine drinkers, and admittedly particular at that. Hardly ever order a cocktail. But I've never had a mai tai like the one at Monkeypod... amazing and artfully concocted! Someone takes great pride in the libations there and it shows. the mai tai is calling our name and we're going back tonight... Food is also fantastic, fresh and flavorful with focus on locally grown offerings. definitely a favorite for us.
Not a typical Peter Merriman restaurant any more!! Food only ok, too noisy and too crowded. Wouldn’t go back OR recommend to any one
The food was amazing, but the tables were cramped. It felt too much like a bar scene for the price. Being bumped while eating a $50 plate of food and shouting to have a conversation. I would go to their flagship Merriman's before I'd go back here for dinner. Maybe a Maitai and an app next time instead. Their Maitais (same as Merriman's) are amazing!
We had several appetizers, kind of like tapas. Everything was good, friendly, casual and fresh. Love!
Fantastic restaurant. We were lucky enough to get an outside table. There was live music and the food and service were fantastic. We will be back.
Service was excellent, food very mediocre. We have been to Monkeypod twice before over the past few years and it was outstanding before, this time the food quality has really gone down - just average and nothing special. Famous peanut chocolate cake was terrible, probably worst dessert I’ve ever had unfortunately. Fish and also pork tacos did not have much flavor, only heat. Beet salad was good.
An awesome place, friendly staff and gourmet food! Amanda was super nice and provided great service. Live musician and his little daughter were adorbs!! Don’t miss the New Style Cocktail!! Jalapeño mashed potato is to die for! Ahi is perfectly done. Who can resist French fries as appetizer! Lol. Overall 5 stars!
AMAAAAAZING food....Amazing service.....and the perfect sunset! Thank you for making it such a fun night!
Awesome happy hour
Great place. Good buzz and ambiance. Always busy. The service could be speedier, but the quality of service and of the food is very good. Price-wise, it’s top end even by Maui standards, but worth it I would say. Best Mai Tai’s on the Island of Maui, and therefore - possibly best on the planet.
We had a great lunch, delicious Mai Tais and the Ahi tuna melt is a must!
Our favorite restaurant in Maui. They have the best fish tacos on the island. The jalapenos are really spicy, so watch out! Some other favorites are the hamburgers, juicy, flavorful and soft buns that melt in your mouth. They also make pizzas, and the very interesting one was the watermelon one. Soooo unique!
The live music and hostesses were excellent. Waitress was disinterested and forgot to put in our appetizer. The fish tacos were meh. Honestly the highlight of the meal was the homemade ketchup (w/ fries).
Food and service were a step above average. So many other options!!!
Food was not only well prepared, but also tasty and the variety was excellent. The service was a tad slow - 1 of 5 entries was not served in a timely manner. And it was very noisy.
Very disappointed with Monkeypod Wailea. I am a big fan of the Monkeypod local fresh concept and love the one on Oahu but this one is a bit of a dumpster fire.
First, there is no view, which is fine if the food and vibe are worthy. But, alas neither made up for the nondescript strip mall location.
Second, we made our reservation more than a week in advance but they gave away our table because we were 10 minutes late. Almost every restaurant has a 15-min grace period, particularly on an island where traffic and schedules can be unpredictable. No big deal. We waited another 20 minutes and were seated.
Third, the service was gracious but unfortunately inept. Much of the food arrived cold. One member of the party ordered a fish sandwich, which did not arrive until after everyone in our party finished their meals. The waitress had no explanation other than “something happened to your fish sandwich.” To her credit, she comped the fish sandwich (which was also cold) and then brought a single piece of hula pie for a party of 9 people to share. Weird and miserly.
Finally, the food was unimpressive and overpriced. The “special” corn chowder was so over-spiced it was inedible. Not sure what the goal was but it failed. How do you screw up something as simple and easy as corn chowder, a basic comfort food?
To top it all off, our rental car was vandalized in the parking lot.
We come to Maui every year but will not be returning to this Monkeypod.
Really is a great place to have a dressed up family meal. The chickpea cakes are amazing!
Our food was delicious-Onaga with lobster-YUMMY
Our server Tom was the best
Excellent food and great atmosphere. Children friendly with free noodles for kids.
We were early, so we had to wait, but 1 minute after our reservation time, we were seated. The food was delicious and the mai Tais absolutely the best. We will be back.
Our waitress was very friendly and accommodating. As usual, the Mai Tais and food were fantastic!
Monkeypod was awesome again!!!! Great food, fantastic service and an energetic vibe!
Hubby and I celebrated our belated anniversary at Monkeypod. We filled up on pizza, appies, cocktails and coconut cream pie. Our server Natasha was amazing and the live music as well! We’re still talking about our meal 👌
Terrible service, we ate at Monkeypod on Sunday and had terrific service, food & drinks at the bar from Morgan. On Monday it was awful. Food arrived late, bartender was bothered we were eating dinner at the bar, just terrible. Food was okay and ambience good as always, but in the 7 years we have been coming this was all-time worst.
We especially like to go for Happy Hour. Food is excellent. We love the potstickers and the pumpkin ravioli! Mai Tai and Margaritas are great!
A "must do" experience in Maui! We went during happy hour, so saved half on an incredible coco corn chowder and lobster deviled eggs (a little short on the lobster), and shared the macadamia nut mahi entree and mixed greens salad.. the bill was still well over $100... ok I admit, we finished off the meal with decaf and an incredible chocolate peanut pie. But still, we had one entree, one salad, and two half-off appetizers.. So lovely to be looking over the ocean and enjoying this experience, it was worth it. All is organic and locally sourced, and the Merriman touch was evident in the delectable recipes. But a deal -- not exactly:)
You need more gluten free options. Maybe pizza crust and soup.
