We came back again from Orange County for about our 5th or 6th visit - most recently in about April of this year - one of our favorites to which I have recommended to friends as one of the best in Southern California.
This visit was a bit different that came with a bit of disappointment.
Menu not as varied as in April (no duck), one person ordered the Wiener schnitzel that surprisingly had no sauce and looked “dry”, my steak was excellently prepared to a great medium rare but accompaniments of roasted potatoes and broccoli were fresh and excellent on taste, but just barely warm in temperature.
For whatever reason, It seemed timing of our our main course was slower than other tables and took longer than expected after our appetizer was delivered but not to the point of complaining.
Service was excellent, lots of checking back by staff.
This may have all come about because this was a busy Saturday night, as people are venturing out more from quarantine, and we all know about restaurants challenges finding qualified staff from cooks on down.
We will be back as it is a jewel …….
Excellent, attentive service and delicious food. Very expensive.
Another fun night at my favorite restaurant. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The food is terrific, and the restaurant is elegant.
Outstanding French restaurant in a gorgeous setting! Some of the best food and great service in North county. Also a nice wine list and our server Sean was knowledgeable.
Always the best.
Superb all around. High quality attention to detail. Customer-centered
The risotto was delicious, turkey (dark meat) was not tender, service was ridiculously slow and poor. Took 45 min to get our appetizer, then waited for 20+ minutes between each course.
We went for a late lunch on the patio to celebrate my mom's birthday and Thanksgiving. The patio was a lovely setting on a beautiful day, Douglas took great care of us, and the food and wine were delicious. We'd go again.
While I do not like being rushed, a meal for two that takes over 2 1/2 hours is waaay too “leisurely.” Service was painfully slow.
We requested an item, which we were told they had (bread), although it never arrived. Food was served lukewarm. This includes the turkey, potatoes, stuffing, vegetable and gravy. We would ask for something and it. Might arrive 10 minutes after requesting it.
Turkey was dry and the gravy was gummy (they used too much flour or cornstarch). I also ordered squash agnolotti, which had a spice that burned. Additionally, they were floating in too much butter. I like al denote pasta, but this was hard.
It was a fantastic experience, with excellent ambiance, and service. The food was exquisite and the wine selection superb. We will definitely be returning.
Excellent food, great service. A very pleasurable dining experience. I highly recommend Mille Fleurs. Never disappointed with our experience.
The whole dinning experience felt very special, from the moment we met the hostess, to the house manager sitting us at a lovely outside table, under a magnificent 100 yr. Old tree with sparkling lights. The service was excellent and food was delicious. Was told that the new chef has been the best one ever. I agree.
Since it was our anniversary we had a few bites of pastry filled with custard and fruit. The plate read happy anniversary written in chocolate. A marvelous evening. Every detail was attended to.
We enjoyed a fabulous meal. Mille Fleurs is obviously a local favorite, but although we were travelling through Rancho Santa Fe, most likely not to return, we were treated graciously. Our server, Trevor, was extremely attentive. The food from the starter through dessert was impeccable.
Food was excellent and service was attentive and prompt.
The service and ambiance are great. The food was mediocre at best considering the high price point. However the desert was outstanding.
Would have expected more "notice" on part of staff: for example, had to ask twice during our time for my water glass to be filled. It was done promptly but thinking with all the staff going by that someone should have noticed. Had to ask twice for lemons for water. Had to ask twice for a glass of ice. Perhaps a little off their game last night!:!:!:!:!:
Incredible experience can’t wait to go back!
After years of being our #1 'special occasion' restaurant, Mille Fleurs lost our business in 2018 when there was a change in executive chefs. We avoided the place for the last 3 years. But last night I went there to help celebrate a friend's birthday and I was wonderfully surprised. There is another new chef and he is outstanding! Every dish was delicious and everyone cleaned their plates. The patio dining had such a lovely ambiance with numerous heaters to take the chill out of the air. The service was excellent, albeit a bit pompous and intrusive at times. The bottom line is I'm putting Mille Fleurs back on our list of favorites...and I am eager to go back soon.
Always feel like family there. Sid is so welcoming
Terrific attention to us.
It was amazing! Guest service was great, and the ambience was cozy yet classy. Really loved it.
We were among the fortunate guests who dined at Mille Fleurs on the evening of October 29 in their delightful out door courtyard. It was perfect, calm and luminous just before sunset on a cloudless, clear October night. The entire staff (proprietor, table captain, wine steward, and the rest of the team) were courteous, expert, and helpful. The wine and food were delicious. We were a table of 4 guests and we all greatly enjoyed our starting courses, our entrees, and our two bottles of wine. Our only disappointment was that we did not save room for the desserts (which were very tempting).
Always feels like a special occasion eating at Mille Fleurs. A fabulous dining experience with the best staff, service and food. Thank you Mille Fleurs!
Bertrand has managed to preserve and maintain true Fine Dining in San Diego at both of his restaurants.
As a true Restaurateur, he walks the room(s) and checks on his Patrons. He greets guests by name and his staff ensure that every need is met without being pretentious.

The courses and wine are only matched by the service and we found no fault in anything from start to finish.
A fabulous experience to be cherished for what it is.
So glad to finally dine at this restaurant. We live one mile away but we've just started dining out again. The service was very reminiscent of fine European dining. They never missed a beat and the wine recommendations were spot on. The food overall was excellent. I would probably not order my main dish, scallops, next time around but I should have read the description more closely. The starters were superb with the highlight of the beautifully plated beet salad. Desserts were solid. I was dining with a vegetarian, and there were options, but there needs to be a well thought out main course option. Not only would I recommend the restaurant to a friend, I will start to frequent the restaurant at least a few times a month.
Delicious…all of it.
Fantastic wine, food, and service!
A special birthday dinner - our server Doug was exceptional. Food was delicious, garden table was charming and peaceful. Wine pairings were spot on, and the visit to our table by the owner himself was appreciated.
Was a lovely anniversary lunch. The menu held lots of fabulous choices and the lobster ravioli was outstanding. The staff were attentive and friendly. Small attractive area for lunch. One off our favorite places to go
Beautiful place, great service, great food. Easy to love
One of the best meals and experiences I have ever had!
The food was excellent and only surpassed by the excellent service.
Very formal yet charming. Owner, Bertrand takes a very hands on approach .
Lovely space !
Superb service by Marco and exquisite dishes
Great atmosphere, comfortable, great service, perfect for good conversation...
A wonderful experience all around. Marco was wonderfully welcome and warm. Everyone really was, from the bus boys to the waiters and staff. The food was a pleasant surprise of culinary balance to perfection. Not over the top and not too little. Just enough for you to truly appreciate good taste. Definitely will be coming back to enjoy that and the Piano Man bonus round!
