I visited the cafe before a weekend in paris and treated my sister and myself to some food and champagne before we left. The food was delicious and the service reasonable . It is a funny location - you feel quite distanced frpm the hustle and bustle of the station which is a good and bad thing. The main negative was the total - they wacked on almosy £10 in service charges which they did not deserve. Not a terrible experience, but dont think I will go back next time I travel.
I was at the Booking Office platform dining area last night for dinner with some close friends.
I feel that I have to let you know that the service we received was not up to standard and in fact, we were so disappointed by it that we would not revisit or recommend it friends.
We had a party of 4 for dinner at 730 and the cocktails we ordered took a long time to arrive.
When we were midway through our mains, a waitress tried to collect our plates.
She then brought us our bill when we didn’t ask for it.
I acknowledged at the dining area was closing and asked her to kindly find us a table inside so we could continue our meal but she returned telling us that we could stay out here to finish.
We weren’t finished, that was the problem. We were not offered desserts or coffee. We were basically ‘allowed’ to sit there to finish our drinks and were forced to pay and close our bill.
If you can picture this, we were sitting in the area when they were turning off the lights.
Needlesstosay, our Christmas dinner was ruined by this.
When we were leaving, we walked through dining area inside and through the bar seating, there were plenty of seats available. The waitress could have easily arranged to move us but she didn’t.
We had a great time and as we booked had a table waiting. Staff were friendly and welcoming especially to my 11 year old daughter. Food was fine ambience excellent.
After reading reviews wasnt sure it was right choice, but was pleasantly surprised. Everything was lovely. No faults whatsoever. Definitely go again. Have a cocktail. Was iust right after long train journey!
Farewell lunch for my niece and her boyfriend - we arrived on time and were promptly shown to our table. Then we waited... and waited... waited. They had a wedding on in the function suite so their attention was on that rather than anyone else. The starters took ages to arrive and the mains almost as long. Mine was cold and so I sent it back. To be fair, the manager apologised and took the starters and my main off the bill and offered us a round of free drinks (by that time we were eager to get going for our guests' train home so we declined). I refused to pay the service charge as well. Quite disappointing to be honest although I did appreciate the gesture of reducing the bill. Then again, that was no more than we deserved.
Booked online. Turned up. It was closed. Rang the number and got a recorded message from the group that operates the place. NO opportunity to leave a message though. Not a happy customer I'm afraid
Our reservation was for 11(apparently full 'til then). We turned up 10 minutes early to be informed we had to order in the next 10 minutes as the restaurant was taking lunch orders at 11. We ordered an English breakfast and a smoothie, pancakes with a side of bacon and smoothie with coffees. My English breakfast was nothing special, but my partners pancakes were dry, barely warm and seemed out of a packet. Service was ok, but we had to ask for things which were missing ( butter for the toast, bacon, tomato sauce ) and the staff disappeared for long periods of time.I suppose this was due to the breakfast shift coming to an end, but I expected better, as my English breakfast cost a whopping £18.
A stark contrast to the likes of Berners Tavern
Having eaten at the main restaurant previously and throughly enjoyed the food I booked for dinner for some work colleagues the night before taking the eurostar. The food was average at best, I had fish and chips - the waiter had no idea what fish it was, neither did I it was chewy and cold...The service is slow and you get the impression that you are an "add on" to the rest of the hotel/bar/restaurant stuck outside!
Good food and fast service as always. We go here as it is reliable, friendly, quick and we never miss our train! Recommended.
On the platform above the station, overlooking the trains. Comfy seats under very hot outdoor heaters, service a little slow to start no-one around, moved inside and preferred the soft comfy chairs, V attentive service and great place to catch up with friends we haven't seen for 30 years! Food was tasty too!
The St Pancras redevelopment is beautiful. The restaurant is just outside the Renaissance Hotel and is part of it. We were a medium sized group and it was a quiet afternoon. The burgers and fish and chips were very good but the service was quite slow though polite.
The food was excellent but a bill of nearly £170 for four people having just one main course, wine and aperitif is completely over the top. Shame because the venue on the Eurostar platform is terrific.
I hate being exploited in the UK by such prices.
The restaurant is on the concourse of St Pancras Station which gives an interesting ambience, actually quite exciting! The restaurant had no record of our booking (Top Table?) but there was one empty seat. However, if dining in winter be aware it can be cold despite the heated seats and patio heaters in the umbrellas. The service was slow..... very slow....! Food was just okay, nothing as good as the restaurant in the hotel. My sandwich was quite tough. One of our party had fish and chips with the smallest ever piece of fish and probably three fish fingers would have had more fish content. All in all, a great idea but just not delivered.

Previously good experiences at Renaissance, so booked for a birthday meal. Arrived 10 minutes before our booked time, to be told there was no reservation for us, no apology or polite chit chat, after providing the booking email I was advised there was a spare table which we could have . No welcome greeting or service. We sat reviewing the menu for 15 minutes, and after no-one attended to take or drinks order, we left & dined elsewhere. The table was out on the platform & maybe the staffing levels are minimalists outside, even so a very disappointing experience.
Rating of poor is not a true reflection as on this occasion we didn't get to eat. The review would not let me exit without marking.
Service was great as we had one gluten free diner and the staff were very helpful. Great location and great food. Will be going back.
Great atmosphere with a small band playing. Real buzz. We ordered 3 fish and chips. The meals arrived but they had brought us 3 Catch of the Day not 3 fish and chips. They tried to serve it to us instead. I refused to accept it - the Catch of the Day (and we didn't even know what it was as we hadn't ordered it) was a separate item on the menu. There had been a mistake when taking our order. I got cross. The manager took them away, apologised, offered us complimentary nibbles while we were waiting and our order came correctly after a wait and was delicious. They knocked the service charge off the bill. Therefore I came away with a posistive feeling about my dining experience and I will definitely go back!
Good spot if you need to be in King's Cross/St. Pancras. Food is average though, and the service could be much better.
I love the location so wanted to try this restaurant as never been before but been to others in St Pancras. Booked via top table and got confirmation but they didn't have my booking, but in fairness did fit us in and staff were nice and polite. Fish and chips - fish was dry and looked like cooked in old oil. Medium rare steak came medium well and was dry. Shame as it's a nice place.. Left me feeling it was for people passing through the once rather than regulars.
We were sat at our table and waited over TWENTY minutes to be asked if we wanted a drink / had our order taken - anything. No-one came over at all, so we left. We'd probably still be waiting there now if not.
No one in St Pancras knows where The Platform restaurant is. It's called the Grand Terrace, so look out. Staff were aggressive and browbeating about naming debacle - not good. They deny 'The Platform' name, even when shown Tobtable email. ???
Waitress was better. If you have a St Pancras departure or arrival - it's an OK choice. Food was bland and uninspired, although looked good on the plate. I had hake with saffron risotto, could have been cornflakes, it was so tasteless. My visitors had the fish and chips. Triple fried chips were yummy, battered cod was alright. Setting was good: comfortable with nice high ceilings. Bathrooms are excellent.
I'd probably try one of the other restaurants in St Pancras if I had to meet someone there again.

I met my friend on her way between Brussels and Birmingham, so we were glad of the refined reception and excellent cuisine offered at The Platform.
It was a bit chilly on the knees - being open to the air and literally on the platform - but there were overhead heaters. The station ambience - with its view of the inconic lovers' meeting statue and the trains coming in from Europe - was fun!
The price was not cheap but the food and presentation were excellent and the service was attentive but unobtrusive.
"The platform" is branded differently so you may have trouble finding it. Even though we asked the doorman of the restaurant adjacent he had never heard of it but suggested it might be the far end of the platform. After a long walk we returned to ask inside said adjacent restaurant and they said it was the same place. The fact that a member of their own staff didn't know it was the same place pretty much sums up how poor the staff are.
Having been told they couldn't find a table (we did book) we ended up sitting in the middle of what can only be described as a noisy bar.
We asked for menus and after 20 minutes got them - drinks menus! We then had to find staff to get a food menu. When it arrived it was ONE menu between us!

The hotel architecture is awsome and well worth a wander through. However staff in the box office a little bit on the snooty side. We had the temerity to occupy a table for three when there was only two of us. The lead waiter then tried to move us on. As for the food £18:00 for fish and chips phew
Beautiful retro surroundings with subdued lighting creating a relaxing atmosphere. Efficient but unobtrusive service. Food excellent and great choice of soft drinks, including saspirilla. Definitely recommended.

We were looking forward to our meal but on arrival, a rather unfriendly waitress could not locate our booking. Her manner clearly indicated we were persona non grata so we left!
The restaurant is named on the website as the Platform - there are no signs at the restaurant carrying this name and the staff did not recognise it. Also the top table booking was not on the system at the restaurant. Did I go to the correct place?
When we arrived at the restaurant they said the top table deal wasn't available any more. However they were really accommodating and honoured it from their current menu. Lovely food and waitresses but probably worth checking what deals are on.
Tis terrace is actually on the platform at St Pancras but very firmly conforms to the high standards of the Rennaisance. The £15 set two courses are exceptional value-I rarely risk risotto at restaurants but this was outstandingly good. Our waiter was genuinely friendly and looked after us well. Will definitely go again
Visit marred by restaurant being unable to trace Toptable booking & having to wait for a table.
This was my first visit to the Platform. I arrived to find that they did not have my reservation. However, they did seat us. The clam chowder soup was a delight. The sherry trifle was beautifully presented and very satisfying. The main of sauage and mash was disappointing. Mash was fairly tasteless and i felt the sausages were not of the quality i would expect from this establishment. The major problem was the incredibly loud group having drinks standing around the tables where people were eating. Several tables of people near them asked to move, especially when they put their empty glasses on their table while they were eating. I do feel the management should have spoken to this group rather than let them ruin the evening of many diners.
