Mezcaleria Alma was a magical and educational experience for me and my wife. We opted for the Chef’s Counter. Think á la carte (tapas-sized) shareable Mexican-International mashup omakase, and you start to get the idea. Several of the dishes showcase their cold salt dry-aged fish in crudo, ceviche, sashimi and cooked presentations. The sauces for each was mind-blowing - simply made (in front of you) with perfectly balanced flavors. Heat from serrano, habanero, mixed chilis or wasabi was present, but never dominating. The salsa verde in the ceviche verde had 4 ingredients (the chefs are happy to explain anything you want) and includes the peppers, tomatillos and dill. Wow! The dill tamped down the heat so well I think I would add this to my morning eggs to kick the day off with pure magic. The burrata huitlacoche elevated the homemade burrata far from the Italian cliche. Corn, huitlacoche and candied pepitas was an unexpectedly great topping. Their take on risotto included crispy mushrooms and a lightly cooked duck egg yolk, which once mixed for a bite was an umami epiphany that combined styles and tastes for a “what did I just eat?” experience for the taste buds. The chefs are your waiters and you can tell they love cooking for you while being as close as your home kitchen. And they take you on a culinary journey with friendliness and expertise. The location is a short distance from the downtown hotels, but don’t let this hinder you. Go and enjoy a memorable experience.

Almost all the food was excellent. I only say this because three of the four dishes we had were incredible ( ceviche, tuna, burrata) and the last one left a little more to be desired, burrita. Thats what happens when you set the bar high with everything else! All in all, everything was great, and I will certainly be back again!

The food was outstanding! Drinks were very good, not overly sweet like most places. Overall wonderful experience. The music was extremely loud though which took away from the atmosphere

So delish - I dream about the tostada and the daiquiri, both my ultimate favorite food and drink!! And sitting at the bar is the most fun - we’ve enjoyed watching and chatting with the chefs. We highly recommend that you don’t miss this place!!

I’ve never written a review before, but I have to go out of my way for this one. As a bartender myself, I hold a pretty high standard when it comes to the kind of experience you should deliver to guests and Mezcaleria Alma absolutely exceeded it. The service, the vibe, and most of all, Jeremy, went above and beyond. Truly impressive. I’ll 100% be coming back and bringing my people with me. Hats off to the whole team.
