About this restaurant

Established in 1987, Meson Don Felipe was the first Tapas Bar in London and we are still an independent, family-run business. You can expect great tapas and some amazing, well-priced Spanish wines, served in an authentic, relaxed atmosphere.
We have an outside terrace with heaters and umbrellas but of course, we can't promise the weather! If you book outside we can't guarantee a table inside if the weather changes.
For those unable to eat-in, we offer our famous Paellas for takeaway at lunchtime Monday-Friday.
Thank you for all your support and we look forward to welcoming you soon to this little bit of Spain in Waterloo.

    Food lovely as before (though getting more expensive...) May I suggest an improved bar service? I asked for a typical Spanish summer drink, Tinto de Verano, and the waiter was confused and said 'we don't have it'. But it's not something you have to buy in and stock - it's simply a mix of red wine and lemonade. Very odd that you couldn't make it!!

    We pre-booked and were given the choice where to sit and sat out on the pavement as was very warm. There was air conditioning inside though. Food was very authentic and good. Had cheeses, chicken, beans and a tortilla- more than enough for a meal for the two of us. Had a half bottle of Tio Pepe and sparkling water with it. Have been there before and will go again.

    I was very impressed with this restaurant choice. Very authentic, great service and the food was delicious! Shame the venue is in Waterloo, but that’s nothing to do with my review of the restaurant.

    The food was nice but terrible service. Took. 30 mind to take out drinks order and twice got attention whist waiting but was just told 5 mins not times. Staff never bother to make eye contact, or check all was ok. Tried to order more drinks but gave up and went over then road.

    Exactly what I was feeling for and they did a great job… Spanish tapas. The only critique I have is that the prawns didn’t have the shell. I personally like the taste of prawns when they have to be peeled.

    Don Felipe specialises in tapas/small plates; those we chose were excellent - broad beans with ham, stuffed aubergines, fresh fried sardines and of course, the Serrano ham. On our visit there was also a chef’s special of gazpacho which was lovely. Service was efficient and attentive. However the seating area is rather cramped so our experience was dented by some loud fellow diners. Nonetheless we would go again maybe at a less popular time and get to enjoy all the good things in quieter surroundings.
